@Cacti: Have fun at the Phish concert, post pics. Matisyahu was actually a roadie for them at one point when he was younger.

Wow, never knew that! I didn't take any photos, but found this one and think it's legit cause Mike is wearing that black tanktop. Both nights were pretty standard shows, luckily we scored both tickets for the price of one though.

More stuff from Scotland, really liking Marrik atm.

And I found an Outast tune I don't hate!

@Straz I managed to ignore the dialect and enjoy that Scottish track you posted, very good stuff indeed. Always positive to hear something like that in the radio. Also feeling the always-so-relaxed and laid-back style of OutKast's.

Can't believe this hasn't been posted here yet.

Ended up listening to Prisma again today as the album popped up from somewhere in the most shady corners of my computer, but I'm glad it did, reminded me how amazing his self-titled album is. I can warmly suggest it to everyone!

Mister Pink

Found this video today. It's sweet. Lovely intro...

This is classic. Listen to the words. Perry is truly a mad genius.

Ah, cheers mate, been meaning to pick some Lee Perry up after hearing his work with Bob Marley.

Anyway, my dad was a massive fan of this song, and was definitely one of my favourite tunes as a child when I fancied just chilling out:

For some reason I can't embed videos anymore. confused.gif

You can't put color or font tags after a youtube vid. You'd have to close the tags and if you want to write after put the opening tags. smile.gif

Ah, cool! Yeah, Lee Perry is amazing. He's still gigging aswell and he's nearly 80! Check this video out with Jools Holland. He's a total nut job.

Nice to see a pretty broad range of people posting in here since my last post, enriches the general diversity of what's being played.

@Wizard: Again, this is pretty much open format listening so don't get to hung up on what would "fit" here, whatever floats your boat at the moment is fine. I have listened to quite a bit of Felix Da Housecat, seems like he's coming out with some new concept album every couple years.

@Cacti: Good deal. If you felt so inclined, you could probably find some pics online if you type in the show date and location and from there feel free to write a brief description for us, I'll include it in the next setlist. (Holy crap I'm draggin on the last one.)

@Straz: I like quite a few songs by Outkast. Them, Goodie Mobb and the whole Dungeon Family click represent some of the best lyrically The South has to actually offer to actual Hip Hop (which isn't much sadly).

@Cheat: As always, really enjoy the Prisma and the classic funk is well enjoyed.

@Sound: Really dug that live set by Jamiroquai. I think he really did his thing on that performance.

@Butters: At The River is a contemporary classic. You couldn't find a decent Chill Out Compilation in the early 2 K's that didn't include it.

@Narcis: As always you have an ear and eye for the epic. sly.gif

I can't make up my mind whether this is kinda sexy or just straight up creepy.

In June 2011, pioneering dubstep/drum and bass producers, Nero, teamed up with the world-famous BBC Philharmonic. The result is this unique blend between two music genres. Orchestrated and conducted by Joe Duddell (http://joeduddell.co.uk/). Performed live at MediaCity in Salford.

Nero's symphony has been rebalanced to more closely fulfill the vision that the band had for the piece and to ensure that this pioneering mix of orchestra and dubstep is available in its full glory.

but not least.

@ThePinkFloydSound: Loved that live set by Jamiroquai!

@meta187: I actually found that track by the Studio Killers very catchy. The video is very odd, but I love music videos like that. I never heard of Guts le Bienheureux, but that was also very catchy, and again another odd video. =P

----

I have a huge love for Deep House, jazzy, lounge music to chill out to. I actually have a large compiled playlist of my preferred lounge tracks on Grooveshark. If you guys want a link, let me know.

AKMusique - Sunrise Moment:

A fantastic, smooth, chill sound that can literally take you away.

Blue Six - Pure (Jay's Nitelife Dub):

I loved the original, but this dub completed the sound of this track for me.

Glenn Underground - Flu Bug:

The track starts at 11 seconds for some reason, but I own this track and I think the flute and the beat is amazing! The change in tone is also fantastic at 08:22. Glenn Underground is one of my favorite artists when it comes to deep house lounge music, by far.

@Warlord: Good beat or not, those lyrics are terrible. =/

Niquid - Italian Summer:

@Unoriginal: Probably not a big surprise but I'm a huge Sorpranos fan. sly.gif

@Zxirius: Hard to pick a favorite but I'm Italian and it's summer so that track by Niquid was right on time. You're right about that breakdown transition at 8:22 was definitely feelin' it.

@Warlord: A bit crude, yes but as you said a good smokey beat.

Before "epic" was a throwaway term there was this.

A lazy summertime beat.

Finish strong.

Yeah I've always enjoyed a bit of Jamiroquoi and never thought to see what their live sh*t was like. Might try see them if they're over again.

@Meta: That Gramatik track is brilliant. Really nice heavy beats.

Rare video from MTV and I'll quote the first comment..

MT f*ckING V?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

If it only takes a decade for a music-loving music video channel to descend to an idiot peep show I dread to think what the future will bring..

Lol.. You'll never see Aphex Twin on there again. Anyway, turn up your bass a little, and the treble too. Switch off and enjoy these 808/909 beats and lovely ambient mountain soothingness!

You're right. I don't think you'll ever see Aphex on MTV again unless someone wises up there, which isn't likely. They had a show a while back that came on late nights called Amp that focused on electronic music but that was almost a decade back now.

A classic New Order cover.

Genuinely, the most creepy thing I've watched all week.

Aloe is actually an emcee but like Ceelo Green he can sing nicely as well.

@Warlord: Good beat on that track, kind of stuff I've been looking for lately. Like others have said through, not the best lyrically.

I've been listening to a fair mix of stuff lately, but still quite a lot of rap.

As per, I can't help but post tracks from Glasgow. Double points if you pick up on even 10% of what they're saying. biggrin.gif

Big L's probably still my favourite all-time rapper. Been listening to this tune at least once a week for like, four years.

And seeing as I'm heavily bonged, some desert rock seemed appropriate. Yawning Man have some great, chill-out songs. They're one of the few desert rock bands that actually manage to get me visualising the desert while listening to them. Kyuss did a great cover of this song.

I'll try writing this post without giving much away about the film. Though I think the premise is widely known.

The Lovely Bones is fast becoming one of my favourite films, having watched it a few nights a go, thanks largely to a wonderful soundtrack which really, without, the film would never have the same impact. The soundtrack really helps to emphasis the fathers love for his daughter after death, especially in the moment when everyone around him is giving up on finding the one responsible. It's a beautiful, dreamy film, Two elements I think you can pick up on just listening to the score. I wish now that i'd seen it when it was in cinemas...My opinion may change if I ever read the Novel though.

The power of the tracks is taken away somewhat without the context of the film, but they still sound good on the ear...

Brian Eno - The Great Pretender (Played as Jack (The father) runs into the cornfield with the baseball bat, being watched closely from the 'in between') One of my favourite sequences from the film which is why I can remember where it plays.

The Hollies - Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)

Brian Eno & Harold Budd - First Light

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren. Played in the final 'in between' sequence.

Just a few. I could post the whole soundtrack.

Any of you are fans of Kruder & Dorfmeister or Depeche Mode you'll love K&D's remix of Useless by DM.

Not bad, Kipper. I didn't like that last track at first, but it'd grown on me by the end of the song. I can imagine it being a powerful tune in the context of the film. Same kinda goes for the first track. Extremely quirky, which I like! But I'm sure the film is what really brings it to life.

My fav has to be the third track you posted. Very soft and beautiful, yet equally haunting. Right down my alley and I'm sure headphones would really accentuate those breezy echoes.

Long Cool Woman is a classic, not much else to say about that smile.gif

Recently came across these dudes from my hometown (Athens, GA). They're dope. This is actually the only song I've heard from them so far. So I don't have much else to say on them, but I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Been digging some Southern Rap this week.

I don't see how anyone could dislike Goodie Mob. My new favourite act for chilling out before bed.

That's funny, so did I, I think it had Adele or Arctic Monkeys on the cover, they did a two page spread on him. I turned the page and he just leaped out in front of me. Striking costume.

Session 11 Complete~

Session 12 Begins~

Quite a bit to catch up on it would seem. I still owe you guys a Session 10 Setlist, I've truly been slackin'.

Are those even missed? I'd like some feedback.

@Narcis: Despite some catchy tunes, I've always thought Juvenile was seriously wack, sorry.

@Warlord: Classic hippy tune right there.

@Straz: All about that Big L joint, Rest In peace to the kid.

@kippers: I've heard nothing but good things about The Lovely Bones but haven't got around to it yet. Those tracks added some incentive.

@Sound: I'm a big K & D fan from way back. Only person who might be a bigger fan of Depeche Mode is King Kapone.

@Cacti: Diggin' the local flavor from Reptar, good solid sound there. You have to love a band named after a Rugrats character.

@Stef: That High For This song is the main theme for the final Season of Entourage, they've been running it a lot on the promos. f*ckin' bad ass track.

@Craig: I've been listening to a lot of SBTRCT and Sampha this last week as well, some great tracks are floating around at the moment. Posted that Wildfire on FB last week. That Sampha track is efffing amazing, wish it were longer.

I'm very picky about Nirvana covers, this one made it through the gate.

Ear to the street, word to the beat.

Yep, that's where I got it from (my avatar should provide a bit of a clue to that tounge.gif). I then went ahead and bought the entire album (House of Balloons), and was astonished as to how good Abel Tesfaye's voice is.

I like the play-lists; it's a nice summary of all the tracks posted in the topic, and allows me to briefly look at songs which I may have missed in the topic itself.

The Swedish House Mafia track you posted reminded me to post this favourite of mine; the section from approximately 2:34 and onwards acts as my mobile ring-tone and alarm in the morning. smile.gif
