I've been listening to this album a bit within the past couple of days. This album has a lot of great works n it. To me it shows that Phil Collins has a broad arrangement of what he can do with his musical talent that he's not afraid to explore with; and Face Value is his first solo record. Plus he's a left handed instrumentalist, which I think is awesome. (I'm left handed as well)

I think Vice City Stories was my first real awareness of Phil Collins. Afterwards I gladly threw down tens of thousands to replay the concert in the game lol. Good stuff.

@The Guru: You've made me aware that I need to stop in here more for background sounds.

But now this song from Ski Runner:

This song has become something of a phenomenon in Ireland. It got about 2 million hits in less than a week. I think we all needed a bit of humour and we got it. Thought I'd share this with the guys on the forum. It's funny enough and there's not too much local references. It's most likely getting the Christmas number one here. I had the pleasure to meet/see them at some music awards ceremony not too long ago...

This one is similar to the Solar Field track that I posted before.

Apologies for the brief hiatus, the holidays have been typically hellish and my free time has been a bit less in the evenings but hopefully things will wind down at that end by the end of the week.

@Sauron: Nice transition back into more contemporary fare with that Of Oceans tracks and some of the ones that followed. I myself have been a bit busy as previously stated and my employments transitioned from doing data entry at a desk to working actively managing an entire store so I don't have nearly the time I did to root around during the day to find the fresh stuff I'm commited to presenting here.

@Shake: Young's always been a solidly versatile dude, I can see that track lending some influence to Los Lobos.

@Unoriginal: Great movie. Way ahead of it's time.

@nerner: Welcome Back, been a while. That Aural had a traditional chillout sound to it I enjoyed.

@Cheat: Let's chalk it up to the holidays, you'll come around when things slow down again. We need someone to maintain the funk.

@Zak.: Despite Animal Collective's critical acclaim they are often hit or miss with me, that particular track sounded right on though.

@Rown: Nice bunch of Country Music Gangsters you got right there with The Highwayman.

@Guru: That Entheogenic track took me back to my Deep Forest days. Kind of a World Music group from the late 90's.

@Sound: That was pretty frikkin' amusing. Ireland's version of the mega sucessful Bed Intruder song quite possibly.

@Tets: In the 6th grade one of three records I listened to every day after school was Phil Collins - No Jackets Required . I've always thought he had a phenominal voice despite some of the mediocre songs he's done in recent years. his voice is still naturally quite electric.

So I found this song by accident looking for a Die Antwoord video and really liked it despite the video not being correct for the song.

Galactic disco.

This collective have been around for the better part of a decade, very slept on. We've posted them a bit here.

I just love that pic meta. Conveys the hectic nature of modern life in tandem with the excellent contrast between the well-defined hotel and the speeding cars in the foreground. Do you know where that was taken?

And I personally prefer the shorter remixes of the Aural Imbalance songs.

@Zak: I personally love K-Rose on San Andreas, my favourite country ditty would have to be Louisiana Woman, Mississipi Man by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. I just love country twangs in people's voices when they sing.

Been meaning to post here for quite a while meta, since I posted on the Diamond Club Backroom topic, but kept forgetting lol.

Awsome topic mate, and loving having a listen to some of the new suggestions posted while doing this incredibly boring Powerpoint presentation.

Anyway, I think I'll start with my house/'pervy stuff I wanna hear in clubs but too embarrassed to request' playlist:

Those two songs are sure to get any club jumping even nowadays. Have no clue why no-one plays it, yet they always have that fa**otty song from that beach show (forgot it's name it's so sh*t).

LMAO, must have this one at the end for when everyone's way too drunk to realise what they're dancing to. biggrin.gif

Still not ringing any bells?

@860: Good to see you in here it's been a while as well.

@Dice: Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X was pretty much an instant classic and still gets thrown into set rotations today despite being dropped over a decade ago. They went on to do other projects but lost the female lead singer and weren't quite as successful. Their most recent project SP4 got shelved for some reason.

Here's an unreleased track from that.

Still get light chills listening to this one.

Anyone familiar with Röyksopp's debut album should remember the track So Easy which samples the hook from this old Bobby Vinton song.

Minus the Boom

Been meaning to post here more.

Russ Chimes - Afterburner

Thanks to whoever posted She's Got The Heat here a few months ago, been pretty hooked on Russ Chimes since then.

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2

This song gives me goosebumps. wow.gif

Reanimation remix of Linkin Park's High Voltage

I don't really consider myself a LP fan any more but this is still my favourite song by them, remixed. Although the piano gets a bit tedious.

Finally, I got around releasing some tracks. I dare to say they're pretty good and definitely my best work yet.

2010, my first time sampling something. I think I did good. IMO it's my best song yet.

Cocaine

8ight B1t Paradise. I've posted this here once, but thought I should reupload it with the other ones.

Something very experimental. Made it in like 10 minutes, no wonder. It's nothing special, but I like it. It's somewhat relaxing.

Maybe someone can take time and listen to them. I really need some critics.

@Ats liked the last one the most, mainly because the other don't represent a genre I like that much, so I can't really say anything about them. But that experimental track was on point icon14.gif

Not sure of the background of these tracks, not even sure how I found 'em. But they're very chill.

Ats, those were all absolutely brilliant. I remember I use to be trying to create some beats but I don't think that it's for me. Great stuff! icon14.gif

It didn't, but I went on the magical tineye and it said that it was Miami. And I have no real reason to doubt that hypothesis. tounge.gif

Lets kick off 2011 with some alternative stuff. I think that both of these songs sound quite similar. But only one of them is by a well-known artist.

@Minus: I actually liked that Afterburner track quite a bit.

@Ats: The new track is great and has some unexpected 80's throwback appeal with all those horns.

@Cheat: That is the music that plays in the lounge as we have a few drinks before hopping on a plane to Cancun.

@Guru: Love that album, listned to it probabaly a bit ...too much to be honest. blush.gif

@nerner: I thought it being the very spitting image of Ocean Beach in Vice City might have clued you in but you may have not have played it as ridiculously as I did. Great selections.

@Tets: not sure if you noticed but I missed you on my last post went back and edited in a reply to the Phil Collins.

Reminds me of a very spaced out No Doubt.

I've played these guys before, this video cracks me up.

A good end to your day.

Never played Vice City I'm afraid. First GTA game I ever touched was Vice City Stories. I should have still known it though so I'll hang my head in shame.

Oh noes, VCS was a crappy PSP port that paled in comparison to the original. Still Phil Collins and having pretty decent Jetskis made it worth a go. The story was a bit garbage though. Definitely do yourself a favor, go back and play the original for the full user posted image vibe.

The Dumb and Dumber sample in the opening kills me. A very funky track indeed.

Pretty Lights just bless anything they touch.

Cool video.

And if you people could comment and favourite it on YouTube (maybe even subscribe), that would mean a lot to me. smile.gif

These days I've been listening to a lot of songs that are "screwed and chopped", which is basically slowing down the beat, skipping beats, and giving the song a sort of heavy, drowsy sound. The lyrics almost sound like it is telling a story, rather than part of the normal song itself. Here are a couple of tunes.

On a side note, these kind of songs are great for getting high...

Not much of an Ozzy fan, but I like this song.

Nominated this thread for thread of the year btw. Any thread made me find +5 artists I still regularly listen to is the best in my book. tounge.gif

Here's a few tracks from the only dubstep album that I liked (FabricLive 37 mixed by Caspa & Rusko)

"It's a lot quieter on the way down than the journey up.No one wants you around when you've got nothing left.

I wanted out so badly but I couldn't just walk away with nothing"

Edit: Also, here's one track from Fly Lo I just stumbled on:

Just.. wow.

In a way I kind of like to think that might be the side note of this entire thread.

Maybe I should have put that in the topic description and we'd get a lot more views. rolleyes.gif

Anyways, I lived off and on in Houston over the years, I got to see that whole DJ Screw sound unfold right in front of me, very good to get faded to.

@Ats.: I really like it I don't think I've heard the voice talking on that track keyed down before.

@Minus: Salmon Dance classic.

@rad: Starting strong, I see. I really enjoyed that track with Adreya as well. I have a great track of her collabing with Bonobo.

Here it is.

She's actually done quite a few songs with Bonobo.

Remixed very well, love it.

This guy is all over the place with his sound, tries a lot of different approaches like Blockhead.

I've seen Wobblegirl before, hehe. She knows how to work it! Posted this in The Connection forum, it's just lovely. Two of my favourite artists. Well, it's an AIR remix of Beck but they have worked on originall stuff together which I'll also post...I just love acoustic music and I love Electronica and I think they go so well together. I love the electro parts in Becks tracks and AIR and Beck compliment each other so well.
