meta: Yeah, I was quite surprised too but I think the songs have a deep meaning and I thought they'd really be good to post in here. I really liked that ''Stories from the bar'' song. Just got me to sit back and calm down sleepy.gif

Vanilla Shake: That's some quality stuff. I especially liked ''Wearing the inside out''.

This has probably been posted before but anyway...

Song 2 - DJ Krush

Session 7 Begins~

@Vanilla: It's funny how very little you hear saxaphones in music these days due to them being way whored out in the 80's. I'd like to see them make a return in some contemporary pop hits and such (outside of ska). Pink Floyd's one of the few mega super successful rock groups to employ soul and gospel style backup singers, gotta love that.

I think I'll take you up on that cold drink and bowl right about now. sly.gif

@Guru: Great track. A lot of people don't know this about DJ Krush but he used to be in a Yakuza gang. We've played him in here before but not that particular track, we don't really sweat repeats anyways. A good song is a good song. How many Biggie, 2 Pac and Gangstarr songs do you think have been repeated in that 500 plus page Hip Hop thread by now? It's all good.

Funktastique.

I'll be trying to get out the setlist for Session 6 sometime later tonight or tomorrow so keep an eye out.

@Claude: Loving that first track, sort of looked like Where the Wild Things Are on acid at certain points in the video.

@Sauron: Really enjoyed you're first track as well and I've been a big Royksopp fan since their first album, so it's good to hear something new by them. They always put their own distinct spin on things, no one quite sounds like them.

@Otter: Nice to see you spinning in here without any arm twisting. sly.gif

Cand really likes Sleigh Bells and has played a few tracks by them in here in earlier sessions. I like Lemon Jelly as well played them a bit here and there. Come back soonish.

@Sound: That track is 36 years old but never sounds old to me. It was released on Light of Worlds by Kool & the Gang.

Amazing, timeless instrumental. It's been sampled and used on everything. Love it.

The monkey people scare me.

Vocals grabbed me immediately.

All about this retro style video.

Haven't been hearing much Q-13-style tracks lately, however, past weekend I re-introduced myself to jazz.

I also learned that Miles Davis is still the number one!

Long no time no see my fellow Studio Lounge brethren. After Cheat was telling me about Digging in the Forum Hype topic I've been trying to broaden my knowledge. Not just for sampling, but I listen to nothing but Hip-hop nowadays. So of course, I'm going to try and come in here more often to help expand my knowledge. Here is some stuff I came across today:

@Ats: I had actually picked out that specific track to play here for an earlier session but went with another Lemon Jelly song for some reason. Very cool.

@Minus: We don't get a lot of straight up World Music in here so it's a nice change of pace.

@Cheat: My son is actually named after Mr.Davis. Good call.

@Kryten: I have to tell you I begrudgingly dragged my feet on listening to the Foo Fighters when they first came out. Listening to Nirvana Lite did not seem very appealing to me but Dave Grohl has really proven himself time and time again as a competant lead and held it down on just about any album they've done since.

@Otter: I fully agree with your assessment. Very cool, nevertheless.

@games: Big Max Romeo fan and it's nice to get some education on where Jay Z's Death of the Autotune instrumental came from.

Electro ZOMBAYZ!

Classic track.

Fantastic production every time from these guys.

@Meta: Yeah Summer Madness by K&TG sounds like it really influenced some of AIR's work.

@gamesguru: I had the pleasure of catching Max Romeo 3 years ago at a festival. Amazing gig. After the gig (he played last at that stage) we went to the camp site. One person 30 yards over to my left would say: "Onwards forwards, don't step backwards!.... and then someone would refrain 20 yard over to my right: "Step out of Babylon!" hilarious because we could never see who was doing it and even the guys sing and refraining didn't know who each other were cause of the darkness etc.

Hey guys, I really never had a track to post here, seeing as I mostly listen to Folk rather than this 'Chill' music. But, I liked those tracks Vanilla had at the beginning page so much I decided to put a little on here. This would be classified as a sort of demented Chill, but none the less I thought it would be a nice track to listen to. Hope you enjoy,

@Narcis: Not a big fan of the actual series, but I must admit, it's got some good music.

@meta/PinkFloyd: I've been really getting into Max Romeo since I've started listening to him. He's pretty well known too, I noticed that one of his tracks was on Grand Theft Auto, and of course the track that spawned the 'Lucifer' instrumental.

Anyway, another act I've been listening to a lot is Black Roots. Have you guys got any suggestions for any similar artists with a similar style? Man, love these guys:

Joe Budden is an inspiration. Really look up to this guy. It's amazing how well and intricately he can express his pain and negativity through his music. He gets a lot of stick for being 'depressive', but if anything his music is up-lifting because it's relatable and gives you hope. I'd love to be able to express myself on track so well one day.

Session 6 Setlist is out. If I missed you shoot me a PM and I'll get one to you.

@Sound: That just happens to be one of my favorite Air tracks ever, good call.

@Unoriginal: Welcome, great movie and a choice track from it. Stop in anytime. icon14.gif

@Narcis: Great game and score all the way around. I feel bad I haven't played any of the DLC yet with a new one well on it's way.

@games: That Joe Budden track was pretty bad ass, love the acoustic leads.

@Zak: That mash-up was going on. happy.gif

Love that rolling loop, works well through the whole track.

Promoe looks like a Hip Hop Jesus.

Like the harmonica on this just ticking in and out.

These guys are highly recommended.

Really f*cking dope as well actually.

Been a while since I posted here.

Narcis: I've never played the actual game but that theme sounds great. Is the rest of the soundtrack similar?

gamesguru: Thumbs up for Joe Budden icon14.gif

I couldn't find the one with the hook, so I'm sorry if it sounds a bit boring confused.gif

Very Nice there guru. I especially liked in the first one, but the other two weren't lacking in anything.

Starting off, I just wanted to put the other track from the movie 'A Scanner Darkly'

There is a ton of music videos like this, where it's just one picture of space. I like it, but nothing beats the real thing.

And I'll end this with something I am sure you've all heard at one time or another. Made for the artiste of the sixties.

@guru: Loving that Bliss track. I don't actually play a lot of purely chill out tracks these days in here so it's good to get a real chill out track in here from time to time. I love everything by Emancipator as well, I was really checking them out a few Sessions back.

@Narcis: Rest in Peace, Tupac.

@Unoriginal: lol. You know what? That is probably one of the few actual lounge tracks that's ever been played in this thread. Like a real, honest to goodness classic lounge track. Shagadellic baby! inlove.gif

My wife knows what I like, played this for me yesterday.

I've always wanted to try absynthe this only made it worse.

Unoriginal: I've heard Easy Living in a cafe back in India. it instantly got me in a nice mood.

meta: I heard a track by The Heavy today, and it too, was great like ''Our Special Place''. This is the track I'm talking about:

I'm going to look up more of their songs today since they really are worth listening to.

@Guru: Yea The Heavy have some nice things going on with a classic Motown sound almost. lol at that Afroman track, I don't even know how to address that.

Waits is completely thrown.

I have to agree. I'm ready for this suck ass hot as f*ck summer to be done with.

Good title for this song. Words start immediately forming in my head over this beat.

This is from the 'Techno Dub' album from Lee 'Scratch' Perry and The Mad Professor tha makes two mad professors, lol. Basically it's sort of Techno-Dub music with this track having Jungle music flavours as you can hear from the drums and bass.
