Parachute Glitch Removed [ WHY? :( ]

Recommended Posts

SammiiDoogles

They need to get their priorities right, GTAIV online is mostly unplayable with new people on PS3 now due to the "50 friends cap".

You can only invite someone from the first 50 people added to your friends list, despite the fact that the friends list cap was raised to 100 like 2 years ago...

For this reason I and many others couldn't get into the PS3 online event with Rockstar, despite having them accept us onto their friends list and inviting us.

They don't fix a pretty major problem like that, but are willing to take out a small glitch that many players found fun?

Sounds stupid to me.

I don't think they can patch the PS3 version until the 6 months are done, guy.

What do you mean? Patch the 2 year old friends list bug or the version of BoGT? I was just relating the two problems on each console, saying that they're taking out fun features for people on the 360 when there are features hindering online on the PS3.

Hey don't worry guys! Maybe they'll release another DLC that enables the parachute glitch! Just like every other fun thing they could nickel and dime us with! HOORAY!1

Honestly, the "unfair advantage" reason is BULLCRAP. Who really used this glitch in Death Matches? NOBODY. Its a senseless thing to do. There are far worse things people do in Death Matches(UnderWater glitch, going inside buildings, etc) yet they remove the one thing that doesn't hurt anyone (including the people below parchuter) and is actually fun.

Well i hate to be the porcupine at this balloon party, but like it is referred to as: it is a glitch. Even tho I'm sure about 99.9% of players enjoy it, it's still a flaw, and Im pretty sure the developers couldnt live with that (Even tho there are plenty of glitches in multiplayer still to be fixed dozingoff.gif ...)

Are you forgetting about the swing glitch? Besides, couldn't the patch have just removed the glitch from multiplayer and left it in single player somehow?

Are you forgetting that I said "Even tho there are plenty of [other] glitches"...if they took out the swingset glitch I wouldnt build a mob and go burn down R*..."They fixed the swingset glitch? Damn...oh well.... *Keeps playing GTA*"

Obviously there are other glitches. What does that have to do with anything? My point still stands:

If R* removed glitches due to some kind of weird pet peeve [as you suggest] then the swing glitch would have been removed long ago.

They usually remove glitches that cause a huge advantage for the glitcher. That's why the swing glitch and spinning vehicle glitch are still in the game. Because they don't really create any kind of advantage and they're fun.

Speaking of that, how is it an unfair advantage? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't use any weapons while using the parachute, right? So while it may be true that you are much harder to kill, you have no chance of killing anyone else. So if anything the glitch is something of a disadvantage.

^^That.

They usually remove glitches that cause a huge advantage for the glitcher.

Hence...

Edit: Ok, i'll explain since, for some reason, no one is using their brain and only keeps spouting "It was fun, WTF?!?!" Here's a scenario: Huge gunfight on the street in Deathmatch is going on. Guy gets helicopter, flies over gunfight. "Hmm, that's pretty intense, how can I get some easy kills? *Jumps out of heli, lands on wrong building* "Damn, need to get to THAT building" Uses glitch to travel to closer building* "This should be be good" *Kills everyone from above* "Now i'll just use the glitch to fly the f*ck up outta here before anyone know what the hell just happened!" *Flys away using glitch once again*...RandomPlayerXYZ wins! 999 Kills. 3 Deaths. Scene.

Obviously there was a problem with the glitch or it wouldn't have been removed. SOMEBODY (enough people to get it removed anyone) musta complained to R* about it creating unfair advantages in deathmatches, cops and crooks, etc. Like I keep saying, there are other glitches and they have yet to be fixed: Swingset glitch. Launches cars. Inside walls glitch. Pretty small area to be in/not many people complaining...Nobody is saying anything about the infinite nitro glitch, when you can fill in the blanks with it with the parachute glitch "The infinite nitro glitch didn't hurt anybody in freemode! It was just fun! Ok, maybe it could have been used to cheat in GTA Race but that's it, not in freemode! Really, who was it hurting? Only a few people! I'm never playing a R* game ever again and I'm boycotting Grand Theft Auto!"

The fact of the matter is, the glitch was removed, the game is still playable (and I bet it is still fun to play). If you wanna play "Parachute Glitch Fun!" get some guys together and develop it for whatever console you want and play to your heart's content.

I think they've purposely done it to draw the die-hard GTA fans away from the game for a while to make us buy Read Dead Redemption. It certainly worked on me.

I don't think all the ones complaining about this are the die hard fans. More like the bitches who cant get their own way. And will stop playing because of one glitch that was taken out. That doesn't sounds very die hard to me.

I personally am not bothered, i would of like to have done this on the PS3 version to see how much fun it was. But if you are gonna blame anyone blame all the live nerds who put this on the Internet and let everybody know about it!

The die hard fans are the ones that stick with the series all the way through, who do bitch and complain sometimes. But don't throw their teddies out of the pram when Rockstar remove a glitch from the game that THEY created. Don't like it? Go program your own f*cking game, but don't come complaining here, swearing screaming and behaving like a two year old kid. Grow up.

Think of it this way, Rockstar wouldn't of removed it, unless a good number of people reported it. So clearly ALOT of people have reported the glitch.

Die hard fans are those who have been around GTA, since GTA1 and have stuck all the way through despite any short comings, bugs and other problems within the series. The new fans the bitchers and the complainers are the ones who have only just joined in the SA and IV eras and seem to think that they can complain and bitch all they want.

why does rockstar takes everything fun out of there games sad.gif At least just cause 2 is out in march suicidal.gif

Yeah "Just Cause 2" looks fun, BUT there is no multiplayer in that game...

So than there is no fun just like Rockstars f*cks it up for us now...

Okay i can understand that Rockstars listens to them, BUT the people who liked the glitch are not going to complain...

So Rockstars does not really know how much people LIKE this glitch...

And the other thing, how can we get in contact with rockstars than? And let them know how we think...

That's the most logical post in this topic. It's R*'s game and they can do whatever they want with it. I'd remove any flaw I could.

Get over your sense of entitlement people. You did nothing to contribute to this game other than buying it. You're not the artists that created it, so you have no say in it.

I think that's not totaly correct friend R* needs gamers to play their games

If rockstar keep doing this kind of crap they will loose a lot of fans

and that means loosing a lot of Money

for Example

The next big game from R* will be Red Dead Redemption i will buy this game for shure

but when i'm gonna play this game at home and it does not match to my expactations

i will return it immidiatly and receive my money back so R* aint fooling me a next time

Because where i buy my games i can return them within 3 days no questions asked

and if i can , a lot of people can

For anybody who still wants to play GTA IV contact me you can pick it up at my house for free

And for the person who came up with this bright idea "lets get that parachute glitch out of a game so that more people will quit playing the game duh"

HOW STUPID CAN A PERSON BE WITH ONLY ONE HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think R* is concerned with losing people who don't really even play their game unless they can glitch through it. They aren't losing any true fans by removing glitches. If it takes a glitch for you to enjoy the game, I'm quite sure you could produce a game with plenty of glitches since you most likely have no experience or knowledge of how to create a video game.

And no, I'm not directing that at you, RogersProfile, when I say "you". I say "you" in the general sense, so before you get upset that I may have insulted you keep that in mind.

Bottom line, once again - It's R*'s game, and if they aren't satisfied with the product and have a chance to fix it, they have every right. To those of you who cry foul at this, good riddance. We're sick of your childishness online anyway. If you crave glitches so much, I'd say stick with Gears of War, as the mentality of that game seems to suit many of you children and it's full of glitches giving you the upperhand - since that's the only way you can achieve anything at all.

I've got some suggested reading for all of you who say that the company who made the game has no say in what to do with their own product- It's called Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

Your post is so incredibly stupid.

We pay to play this game, if we did not buy it, the employees who made the game would not be paid, and they would not make the game. It would not exist without the player purchasing it in the first place.

It's not Rockstars game, it is OUR game. If Rockstar decided to take out the vehicles, simply because it was their game, I would simply NOT buy their products.

As far as your post is concerned, it lends nothing but a narrowminded and idiotic view and adds nothing valuable to the topic. The glitch was fun, it didn't give anyone any advantage whatsoever. You must be 12, because only some childish moron would state that Rockstar can simply do what they want because they developed the game.

If you don't like people wanting the Glitch, then as your childish opinion would no doubt be about people wanting it, to bad, if you don't like it. Then just Frick off.

It's not your game. Period. What did you do to create it? Nothing. You paid for it, but that does not give you rights to it. If you think it does, try taking R* to court and suing them. You won't even find a lawyer willing to take the case. This is not a socialist country.

A man creates, a parasite says "Where's my share?"

As far as idiocy goes, you've shown your own. Especially with your typical "You must be 12" statement. Because I can guarantee you that no 12 year old feels that way about anything. They all feel that world is unfair because they do not get what they want.

No matter what you say to try and insult me, the fact is you have no rights when it comes to this subject. You are wrong. Simple as. Move to China and see how far communism gets you. Write a song and listen to people complain about how your drum fill pulls them out of the mood and demand that you remove it from the song. How would you feel if your art were subject to the whimsy of the masses and constantly changed according to their ideas and not yours for your own art. What if you invented something that could change the world for the better, only to be denied the rights to your invention?

Reason won't work with you, it's obvious you have no sense of what it takes to create anything but the sh*t spewing from your useless brain.

You'd actually find that when you pay your $$ for the game that you don't acually own the game. You pay for a license to use the game nothing else. Rockstar retains all rights over the game even the copies installed on your computer. Rockstar owns the game end of, if they wanted to make the entire game pink and make the main character ride a pink pony they could well do that, and put it in an update.

Rockstars game to destroy, fix or whatever. We have no rights, other then consumer rights about it not being fit for use.

So bottom line as a user you pay a license to play the game, you don't own it and can make no demands.

Okay, but hasn't there been a lawsuit against Amazon for deleting a bought book from the Kindles? It was remotely deleted because Amazon sold it too soon. They undid it by removing the copes from all Kindles. But someone didn't like this and sued Amazon and got his money.

But okay, in this case it's an optional update you can refuse or accept the update. And it's an UPDATE, not removing your game from your house.

I should've refused, my Xbox Live Gold has expired and i'm only playing SP now. Haha biggrin.gif

We have a right to protest and boycott though. I am a die hard GTA fan and have being playing since the original and I hate that they've removed the parachute glitch. I'm not gonna bitch and moan about it but it was a bad call. We all have a right as the consumer to complain because we pay their wages. MW2 had a situation on its release involving PC users not being able to host dedicated servers, most of the PC users threatened not to buy and boycott the game so they changed it. So why cant we do the same?

I support what Rockstar is doing because, if I were them, I would also fix a glitch that isn't meant to be there no matter how "fun" it may seem. I don't get how this glitch is that fun anyway. All you do is to fly everywhere but you can also do that by jumping out of a helicopter anywhere, just a little bit more work. I keep reading from you that "there are other glitches to be fixed." Can you list the ones that don't require an overhaul of the game engine or unnecessary work? From a developer point of view, things that are not an integral part of the game engine or doesn't take an exorbitantly long time to do should be fixed fast. Besides, I don't see an uproar yet so I doubt Rockstar would listen to the minority.

Off topic

Once yesterday I tried the parachute glitch and had very surprising effects. First, I jumped and immediately pulled my chute (to maximize glide time). There was no chute, but I was gliding. I then flipped up my phone and tried the glitch. And it WORKED! I popped some smoke, shouted to my friends, and headed their way to show them. And when I got in proximity to other players, my chute popped open and I could no longer get any elevation. When I tried to show them I was so bummed. But maybe it can be done again, or it could have been "one of those random things". Perhaps there is some hope?

That glitch was the best way to level the playing field versus bastard pilots in FM. I will miss that wonderful exploit.

I think that the was the method that Timmy M56 was talking about:

I just did the glitch

Just do the glitch and open your phone, if the cables snap, your guy will fall in a sitting position and not get hurt,

JUST DON'T CLOSE THE PHONE OR YOU WILL DIE

Also if you do the parachute glitch, but push the stick forwards you can decrease height faster* It will take a 100 or so feet before you regain control of the chute.

Have fun glitch around the city

Reading one page was enough... So, some people claim that developers should listen to people (28 people for what I can see here). Then, I did see some people too against the glitch (oh, yes, it is something that it was not meant to be in the game), so by this logic, who you think the will listen? If they ever listen... Then, can you imagine what would be the game if they should start to listen to the thousands of ideas people give?

The thing is, this is a glitch and they can fix it, so be it. Missile pistols? That's not a glitch, that's someone hacking the game. Can be fixed? It was, several times, patch after patch, ban after ban. Their multiplayer thing is flawed, but you and everybody knows that 1) is not the only game which is abused by people who modify game files, take a look at MW2. 2) they do try to fix it now and then. Thing is, multiplayer platform is crap, but that's not their fault but platform's (GfWL).

Anyway, I know you kids won't understand and will shout/bash at me. But you have to learn to enjoy the whole game, not just play one glitch, you people sound like you connect the game just to parachute up. wink.gif

I'm glad that silly glitch is gone. It made free mode a bit too ghey. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into a free mode game and nearly every person in the game is flying around. GHEY! It had turned Liberty City into Candy Land.

Liberty City is all about killing, maiming, detonating, annihilating, buzzarding, etc. Rockstar's correction of this will, I believe, help extend the life of TBoGT's Multiplayer.

Well...it's Free Mode. You know, the mode where anyone can do what they want? The mode where you aren't obliged to kill anyone?

Liberty City is all about killing, maiming, detonating, annihilating, buzzarding, etc.

In Free Mode, Liberty City is defined by what each player chooses to do. There is no outright "KILL EVERYONE, SHOOT STUFF" disclaimer anywhere before entering a game. If you want to do any of the above, you just go to one of the designated modes, like Deathmatch. There, people actually killing each other to fulfil the objective.

Rockstar's correction of this will, I believe, help extend the life of TBoGT's Multiplayer.

I'm more inclined to believe that TBOGT's multiplayer lifespan was in no danger of being truncated by the glitch.

I'm glad that silly glitch is gone. It made free mode a bit too ghey. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten into a free mode game and nearly every person in the game is flying around. GHEY! It had turned Liberty City into Candy Land.

AH HA!! I'll bet that you were one of those Brits in free mode last night that my wife and I kept slaughtering!

Free mode is free of a time limit, free of a score, and free of any rules, free to be interpreted however by whomever.

Rockstar is free to fix the game to make it run the way they originally intended.

I can testify that 95% of the free mode games I have participated in since May of 2008 have been blood baths from the moment I spawned into LC. But thanks for trying to explain to me what free mode is and how not to use it. wink.gif

He he, I wouldn't be that assumptive.

I never debated their right, you understand, rather the point that people flying around constantly in Free Mode contradicts the ideal of Free Mode, which it doesn't, really; for as you testified earlier on that it's free to be interpreted however each player wants.

Of course, I'm not in R*'s head, so I wouldn't really know their thinking. They could be thinking about how to implement flaming machine gun refrigerators that spew laser-guided death, or how to implement teddy-bears. If I was in their heads, I'd manipulate them into adding "The Ballad of Black Dynamite" as a third DLC Episode.

And my Bridge Brand™ Captain Obvious Tutelage™ course is still available for $39.99 per lesson! Learn things you already knew! Solidify the facts you've learnt since playing the game! Give me money so the repo-man stays the hell away from my stuff!

...I'm serious, take the damn lessons! I BEG OF YOU!
