Yeah sure, I don't have Vice City installed currently so I just threw this together from an old low res San Andreas sign texture.

That's still not HD but better quality try 512 x 512 or 1024 x 1024

512x512 or 1024x1024? WHAT? For a small sign? and you've got the proportions wrong! He's on the right path, upping 128x32 to 256x64 is a good start, at most it shouldn't be more than 512x128.

 

Also, opnoright, bit of detail advice, look at the fonts closely, you'll notice in the original it's a bit thicker, easily noticeable on the S and 5, as well as how SUPER is arranged, but that's just me being a high measure on Quality Standard, overall though you've done a good job, certainly handled the colours well!

But the models they are remaking ARE for that scale, so, taking a 128x32 image, remaking it as 512x512, and applying it to the model, the game would scale it down to 512x128 anyway, ergo, it's a waste of time to make it in that resolution.

 

SOME ads in GTA IV are 512x512, ...because they'll be for square adverts, in the 3 era, they would be 128x128, so, remaking those adverts, yeah, you'd use 512x512.

 

And stop saying HD, you're making yourself look silly, going from 128x32 to 512x128 IS a massive increase in quality, stretching the ratio out to what it isn't doesn't magically make it "HD" tounge.gif

The HD thing is just a short way of saying it I think. Much easier to type than the resolution.

 

But is this map supposed to be as high quality as IV's LC? Or is it Better or Lower?

 

BTW, I can't wait to see this out along with III Rage. When they come out, I might consider making a Double Pack HD for EFLC that has both mods combined together. (IV SA wouldn't fit in because it would be harder to do 3, and its not remodeled). I don't know what would be a good name for it. What do you guys think?

I see what your saying, I could have done a lot better on the 'Super' I was slightly rushing to throw something together to show but thanks for the advise I appreciate it. icon14.gif

No it is not, VC Rage is a conversion, this is a complete remake with higher poly models, and higher res textures. As for the SA version, it's broken and ugly trust me not worth the up, or download.

what comes to the texture ratios in rage engine, the signs are 2*1, not 4*1. Believe me, i.ve edited enough ad signs in gta 4.

The texture ratio depends on what the objects ratio is, has nothing to do with the engine.

 

This sign would have a 4:1 tex ratio, despite which game\engine it is:

Personally I haven't done a lot lately due to real life stuff, however we are in discussions with a Russian team with the same goal as us, and it looks like we may merge the two mods! Stay tuned wink.gif
