daramunnis
I have a strange problem with GTA3. For some reason, first encounter with certain textures, ie. buildings or whatever, load really slow and result in fps of about 4 or there abouts, which is useless, but when the same textures are viewed for a second time, ie. from ram, they load perfectly and gameplay is smooth. i dont get it. my hd is 7200RPM so it should be okay. any ideas???? Demarest
Can anyone get me the Gta3.exe version 1.1 because i can't install it trough the patch The only way a patch wouldn't work is if you're using a hacked EXE, which is against forum rules to talk about. @daramunnis: If the things here haven't helped, then you should go ahead and create a new thread about it. That way we don't clutter a generalized thread with something specific.
Beeblebrox
Okay, I want this problem solved!! My specs: AMD Athlon or Duron (don't remember) 1,7 Ghz 384 MB RAM ATI Radeon 9000 with 64MB 40 GB harddisk, rpm no idea... Directx 9.0b (if that's of any help) GTA3 is just laggy. I tried all the highfps mods and stuff, nothing quite works... I hear people with 16MB graphics say GTA3 runs smoothly... I think it's the CPU... It's a 1,7 Ghz CPU, but it only runs at 1250 Mhz (Dxdiag says 1.3, but starting the computer it says 1250) I hear this can be switched to some kinda 1.33 thing from BIOS settings... or is it a jumper on the CPU? Well, we never really did anything about it, cause 1250 was quite enough, everything ran smoothly... If it really is possible to make it the 1.7 it is supposed to be, how do I do it? btw sounds: VIA onboard soundcard, totally sucks... Tried disabling it, but didn't help... also reinstalled motherboard drivers, didn't help either. Downloaded new sound drivers, no effect (except now missing sound in many other games, so I uninstalled and installed the old drivers again...) And if it is my harddisk? How can I discover my HD rpm? I know my machine can do it. what I don't know is how I'm gonna make it do it...
Demarest
Last time: This topic is for common problems and solutions. If these don't work, create a new thread. Next time this is ignored, this topic will remain both pinned and locked. Your CPU is an Athlon. Durons never made it to 1700 MHz. And I'll bet your CPU is a 1700+, not a 1700 MHz. There's a difference. Either way, your CPU is intended to be run at 133MHz FSB. Consult your MB manual for instructions on how to accomplish this. Any number of system diag software will tell you your HD RPMs, including Sandra.
kormath
I still have the problem of the game minimizing and going back to my desktop screen. This happens every time i pull the trigger, aim the sniper rifle, or start the vid clip for my next mission. I read unless i'm mistaken now there is 2 patches for the game for winXP? I've downloaded the game patch from the rockstar site, where's the other patch? and will that fix this annoyance? Frank_Drebin
Hey whats up i m having great trouble running gta3 properly.the only way to get fps more than 8-9 is by changing the view to the one that shows things from above and even then its sh*tty.my specs are pentium III 733mhz Ati rage fury pro128 (32mbs of memory) 384 mbs of RAM WD 60 GB WD 80 GB and Direct X v9 installed none of the programs you suggested ( high fps,3d analyze) didnt work for me.i wonder if anybody else had the same problem,i mean it should run properly on my PC.My AGP speed is 1x because of my stupid motherboard (Jetway 993AN/AS) although my ATI card supports up to 4x. thanks peace out

munchyboff
Hey, recently while playing GTA3, its started crashing. At random, it will freeze, i press a button and it closes with a popup that says: "The instruction at '0x}04f8b99' referenced memory at '0x00000004'. The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate to terminate the program, Click on Cancel to debug etc." This is incredibly annoying as it happens completely randomly it seems, but is usually after a few minutes and it means i have to save as soon as i can after each mission. Im up to GRAND THEFT AUTO for Kenji and I can't finish it because it keeps freezing etc. This didnt use to happen, so i dont think its a hardware problem. I can't reinstall GTA because the cd blew up in my cd drive. help would be appreciated thanks

AceDevlin
Hello all. I've ben getting random lockups in both Portland and Staunton Island. When I drop out to desktop, theres an error box stating : Unhandled Exception : c0000005 At Address : 0052d113 I'm running GTA 3 with the 1.1 patch and RealGTA 3 installed. I've been installing various car mods, and testing them one by one as I go. If the car works, I leave it and move on to another car. When it doesn't (either doesn't show, or game locks up with a different unhandled exception) I remove it and restore all settings back to their previous state. These errors are always reproducable, and always vanish once I restore the original files and settings. But the error above seems to be completely random, and always appears exactly the same, same address, etc. If anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate it. System specs as follows : Intel P4 1.4 GHz NVidia GeForce 4 MX420 50x Acer CDRom and 48/24/48 LG CDR/W 20 GigWD (7200) and 80 Gig Fujitsu? (7200) Onboard VIA Sound w/ AC'97 Drivers 512 Meg SDRam (not sure of speed) Thanks in advance for any advice I receive AceDevlin

tobu24
do you have your disc 2? if not and you just have the iso. file use a tool name daemon tools. (google it) your second disc is your audio disc sfx and raw. daemon will mount your files and play them like a disc. That should fix your problem.
