tuareg Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 The sentry gun was pure f*ck. It either got stolen or wouldn't kill for sh*t. All depends on the map you choose and the location on where you place your sentry gun. On certain maps such as Airport, you just place it either on the corridoor on one side, or along the back wall past the security points. Other maps, just place them in the areas where everyone tries to take control of, such as the big Estate on, uhm, Estate. I personally used to hate the Sentry Gun myself for the exact reasons you pointed out. I'd find myself placing a sentry gun, getting no kills for like 4 minutes, then for one of them to always smash it. Can't go wrong with them on Domination mode either...stick one of those in a corner near the "flag" and watch those dumb kids get killed over and over again. Yeah i used to set it up at chokepoints and places like the roof on favela, but it either got knifed or, well, stolen. Harriers were great for newbies to the game though, as it was a low killstreak reward that could net you quite a few kills, not only from the bombing, but when it hovers overhead. Only downside is it doesn't require much to blow up. At the moment, I've got my killstreak rewards as Care Package>Predator Missile>Emergency Airdrop. The care package will usually result in a UAV/Counter/Ammo, but every so often, you get a decent reward. Then my predator missile usually nets multiple kills, giving me my emergency aidrop, where atleast 1-2 rewards are quality ones. I'm not that great at the game, so only rarely raise my killstreak rewards to the higher ones. Oh, and only just really noticed how annoying nukes are on the game. Never really noticed it before, but now they annoy the f*ck out of me. Domination - Ground War, and the highest points are 70 (out of 200), and a f*cker ends the game with the nuke. Doesn't take much to figure the exploit of the nuke either, such as on Wasteland, nearly everyone is guaranteed a nuke, or near enough, if played right. Get a chopper gunner on this map and that's it, nuke. Glad to see them gone from MW3. @tuareg, what do you mean by 'stolen'? You mean the package itself before you acquire it? I can go with the enemy team stealing it, i mean if they're dicks they'll just rush the area as many times as they can until one of them eventually comes through with it, but i had team mates eagerly waiting for the package to drop. I got a hold of it most of the times, but i got unlucky too many times and decided to let it go. I mean it's not that hard to get a killstreak going i usually have it set to pred>pave low>ac, but i do just as well probably even better if i'm not working to getting any rewards. I'm somewhat of a hypocrite in saying this, but it annoys me to f*ck when you just get a package dropped to you, only to be shot by the enemy. Hypocritical, because I like to watch for the enemies package chopper to come, then rush to the place it dropped. For the reason you mentioned though, I also tend to switch the low killerstreak reward around, usually to a UAV, which is perfect enough to gain kills if done right. So far, I've always been lucky with the emergency care drop though, with me getting all 4 packages before the enemy kill me. This probably down to the fact that I play GW alot, and when those kids hear "Emergency Airdop Inbound", they immediately surround you like it's charity day, but advantage is that they are actually helping to protect it. One f*cker (team-mate) even tried blocking me in a corner just so he could steal my packages...idiot forgot that he would eventually have to move to grab the package. The Sentry is only good in core, most people use Ghost/Cold Blooded in hardcore. i've never seen a whole team with Ghost pro in Hardcore on Black Ops. most of the time they either have Ghost or something else... At one point one of my buddies got 10 kills from his Sentry gun on Grid. He placed it on the truck in between the Radar Building and the Electric Building. He guarded the backside of it... i think he ended with 42 of our team's 75 kills... that was the most lopsided game i've ever seen on Hardcore... the other team had 10 total kills. If you're having issues with the other team stealing Packages then you need to run with a more solid group that can comprehend protecting packages... I find myself playing barebones a lot. Like if you're a good player it's fine to be rewarded because that's basically what it's all about, but when i'm forced to hide every minute it gets frustrating. Anyway, as far as weapons go, here's hoping the m16 and mg4 make a return, don't see how they wouldn't at least the m16. I gave up on the mp5k, but the mp5 will return so it's good.
