The Lost and Damned graphics filter

Recommended Posts

TheFoundAndBlessed

Hey y'all,

I've heard of this graphics filter TLaD has, making it seem grittier or something. Does anyone have two pics that clearly show the difference between TLaD with the filter and without?

Many thanks.

It's called a Noise Filter, add's noise over the screen to give it a grunged up look, was used a lot in Metal music videos in the early 90s, sort of gives the image a rougher look.

I turned it off after a while in the settings, it was cool but made the game seem too gritty.

See, this is a bad idea, some HDTV's have a setting called DNR, which stands for Digital Noise Reduction, So, imagine your tv, having this setting turned on, as you also turn on the Noise Filter on TLAD, it conflicts and goes rather mad reducing the image quality, so if you do plan on having this on, make sure that setting is turned off on your TV, which it should be anyway, it's only needed for analogue sources.

What the f*ck is your deal, asshole? Ash is just trying to help by saying that you might have to change your settings to make it look better, and you come back with some dickhead remark not relating to the comment at all. What the f*ck?!

...I'm following you? I'm curious now where else have I replied to your comments? And gee sorry jackass, I was giving out some information a few people might not know about and how to counter the problem, no need to be a dick.

edit: I've actually just looked through your posts and I've NEVER actually responded to anything you've wrote before that one comment, haha, WTF man?

I DID NOT ASK FOR HELP!!! i was simply commenting on my preference and he called it a "bad Idea." Ash simply wanted to seem smarter than he really is by posting some useless google info about some obscure setting that is non-existent on my TV. Ash, go help people that are actually asking for help.

Obscure setting? It's a common feature on most HDTV's, usually set to On as Default, you didn't mention anything about what settings your TV was using so I assumed that it's possible you left the DNR feature on whilst applying Noise in the game, which DOES make the image look even sh*ttier. Plus the way I worded it was in an advise manner for other people not directed at you. There was no need for you to fly off the handle and go all paranoid on us by near enough saying I'm stalking you, when in reality I have never actually responded to any of your comments before that ONE. Someone seems insecure.

Back on topic.... bored.gif

I agree that while the Noise Filter does make the game seem alot grittier and grungier - once the novelty has worn off it just becomes annoying, IV is a good-looking game - why does R* think they have to 'fix' what was never broken?

Atleast you can turn it off - if you couldn't I'm not sure TLAD would be my favourite of the two DLC.

Yeah, I wish TBOGT had a similar filter for something like stronger Bloom to give off a brighter feeling to the game. Again completely optional of course.

I agree. TBoGT should have had some kind of graphic filter or trails.

Rockstar obviously thought judging by the response of the players of TLaD that they didn't need a graphics filter for TBoGT.

^Aren't we allowed a discussion? (Rhetorical Question)

I agree, a bloom filter or perhaps higher contrast option would have been good for TBOGT.

Whoa, I knew that the noise filter was significant, but you can really see the difference there! wow.gif

It makes me glad that there's an option to turn it off, although knowing me I'll probably play through the entire game with it because it just feels right.

The lack of filter is a filter, in comparison to the other two games. Niko struggles toward a hazy future, Johnny's world is decaying, but Luis' world is sharp and clear. Luis is fine with his life the way it is.
