Turn signal!

Recommended Posts

PsykotikJunkie

So I've heard gta 4 doesnt have turn signals

i beg to differ

a hour or so ago i discovered something pretty weird

i have yet to be able to figure out the exact combination of analog stick movement to be able to do this every attempt, but i am getting better at it..

ill try to explain what ive discovered so far, so work with me

(once i figured it out exactly i plan on recording both controls and gameplay as proof =])

i was just b/sing around in a voodoo

went to go turn left and i guess snapped the movement analog stick down+right then back to left (trying to idk fishtail?) / tapped brakes a couple times and bam

left turn signal came on

since then ive been trying to recreate what exactly i did

ive managed to do it about 4 more times

in the hour ive spent driving in circles and slamming into cars trying to figure out wtf i did

disbelieve all you want, i shall have proof damnit =D

has anyone ever noticed what im talking about?

or care to attempt maybe?

im playing gta 4 offline on an unmodded 360

idk if the game being copied to HDD matters, but ill include that anyways

progression:

8 times now..

damnit it happens when im just randomly moving the sticks not paying attention to what exactly im doing

like L stick tapped right twice

then R stick tapped left once

and it turns on

but then i try that again

and it wont work

like im missing something

x.x

im gonna get this

im on a mission

I've always wanted to use turn signals in GTA IV. Just because sometimes I like to drive around obeying traffic laws. Are you sure that it only happens when jerking the stick around like a rabid monkey though?

im the same way, occasionally i just get the urge to abide the law..and its scary =P

eh not so much 'jerking the stick around like a rabid monkey'

(hard to explain still since i have yet to master it)

ive tried random combinations with the (L) stick [movement] such as

(lightly tapped) left right left right / left left right right / etc

another time i just moved the L stick clockwise a couple times [3 people died in the making of this experiment] and when it got to the UP+RIGHT direction in one of the rotations the left blinker came on as i was getting into a sidewalk/cops face =]

its still a mission in progress though,

ive been trying it with the car not moving, but it seems the car has to be in motion somewhat,

another thing ive been trying to see if it effects the blinkers turning on is the pressure applied to the L stick (pushed all the way in one direction vs lightly pushed in one direction)

and if the R stick [camera] has anything to do with it at all (theory: you point the camera in the desired direction for the desired blinker to light up)

im confused on why rockstar made this such a task

or maybe its a lot easier then i think, im just reading too deep into it

another update:

a buddy of mine did mention that in either Vice City or San Andreas on the PS2 they at random would turn the blinkers on, and if his remembers correctly it was through the same methods ive been attempting to perfect.

imagine-all these years we could have possibly used it but thought we couldnt

if that were the case i dont blame rockstar for not informing us,

instead im sure they'd get a good laugh

i would =]

especially if you coulda did it in the original overhead-view gtas

I would like to see you make a video on Youtube of this. I would like to see the blinker actually working and you showing examples with the controller on how to make it happen. I hope to see this actually happen, curse you R* for not telling us of this. sad.gif

I saw a video on youtube and it made me believe if you steal a car in North Alderney at the Car Wash and it has an alarm turned on, quickly take it to the Car Wash before alarm is off and turn signals should stay...I tried but I get f*cked up by the cops all the time.

I had this happen ONCE to me before with the Virgo LJ gives you. Never happened again since unfortunately but the indicators were coming on when I pushed the stick to turn even if the car was still. Is that happening to you?

I think this only happens when you have GPS speech on or just GPS like in "The Getaway: Black Monday" when the turn signals come on where you turn.

I remember this happening a few times in a Turismo and a Taxi a long ago, but nothing recent. Does anyone know a mod for PC that can do this?

There is no public mod at the moment which are able to do that. Only hazard signals.

When PsykotikJunkie shows this in a video, maybe this is possible as well on the PC version.

Perhaps this is a BETA thing accidentally left behind in the game.

I remember in the old PS2 game, 'The Getaway". You could do it by simply holding the stick in the direction you wanted to turn into for a second or two.

Im definitely glad to see that im not the only one that this has happened to.

Even though i do think its a glitch or something and that there is really no exact way to do it, because really if you think about it..what's the point of having that feature if you have to do a whole combination of things just to get the turn signal to turn on? By the time you get it you're probably going to be on top of 3 police cars and a maverik lol, or you'd have to start turning it on 4 blocks away from where you really want to turn. confused.gif

Either way it is pretty kool i guess when it does happen. cool.gif

LOL at ^^^^

Anyway I don't think it's a glitch, or a random occurance, mashing buttons probably DOES have something to do with it.

It happened to me once as well. I was jacking a car, probably a taxi and he had his blinkers on, they remained on for a good four seconds and then just went off.

I remember this happening a few times in a Turismo and a Taxi a long ago, but nothing recent. Does anyone know a mod for PC that can do this?

I'm on a phone now so I can't give you the direct link, but go to the LCPDFR website for GTA 4 (I'm pretty sure it's just "www.lcpdfr.com" and search "indicator mod". It's an easy script mod. Of course, this is unless you've found one already. smile.gif

I never knew such a thing was possible. Having turn signals would definetly make the game more realistic than it already is.

For anyone one with a pc and GTA IV on it, here is an turn signal mod:

http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/45-indicator-script/

How to install:

Get ScriptHookDotNet Click Me

Then place ScriptHookDotNet.asi in to your GTA IV folder

Create a new folder name "scripts" without quotations in your GTA IV folder and place "indicator.ini" and "indicator.net.dll" which is located in the indicator file you downloaded into the script folder you made, then place "AdvancedHook.dll" into your GTA IV folder.

Get an ASI loader for your patch. Here is an 1.0.7.0 asi loader Click Me

And place the ASI loader into your GTA IV folder.

In Game press arrow key Left and Right for indicators

I had same thing happening on my 360.

I dont remember the car but it was silver color. Turn signal was randomly switching to left or right whenever I was close to a turn or just randomly driven straight. Unfortunaly the car got a bit of mashed up *cough* RPG *cough* and this never happened to me again.

I was curious for a turn signal mod and I stumbled into this thread, but HOW could you not have noticed that you bumped a 3 year old post? Yeah, I hope he did found one already and not waited 3 years for your reply. mercie_blink.gif
