You know I find some people on this board incredible, for the better part of a year I had been telling you lot that the DLC was coming to the PC and PS3. Naturally I was slagged off accused of being a Rockstar cock sucker and I was a delusional PC fanboy. A lot of the people posting in here all giddy with joy were people slagging Rockstar off because they made the DLC for the xbox "exclusive".

However now you have what you want everything is "ok" again I mean seriously how f*cking hypocritical can you get ? In case any one missed it I don't post on this board any more, I no longer consider myself a fan of GTA 4 or the GTA franchise so it is no longer appropriate for me to post on a GTA fan forum. The only reason why I posted yesterday was down to the fact I got wind that some people were under the impression I would be "over joyed" by this news and I wanted to set the record straight that I really couldn't give a sh*t.

Now I am glad you are all whoopee doo about getting sloppy seconds and I hope it all works out all hunky dory for you guys. However I can bet my life that come 1st April there will be 200 damn complaint threads about poor optimisation, bugged game play and horrendous game glitches.

Don't you think you're begin a little over-dramatic? And just to set the record straight, I thought it was awesome that you were sticking up for the idea of PS3/PC dlc in a bunch of threads a while back. You had a lot of good points and were a big reason that the threads stayed alive for so long.

Then it finally gets confirmed and you've suddenly turned into something worse than those hypocrites that you mention: a whiner. R* is not your friend...they are a company. A business. What kind of retarded business would turn down $50,000,000.00!? R* isn't there to hold your hand and give you everything you want, they're in it for the money! Now yea, I do believe that they care about their fans to some extent which is why so many fan requests were included in BOGT. But they can't please everyone all at once. The Xbox 360 was the biggest market and the most profitable at the time (the 50 mil plus sales of the DLC) so naturally they accepted the money and made the episodes exclusive. Now I would be just as pissed as you if they made it exclusive out of laziness to develop for multiple systems or something but that's not the case at all.

You're getting all offended that R* isn't holding your hand and patting you on the back and, even worse, you're taking it personal! It's not like they sat snickering around a big board room table laughing about how they were screwing over all the PS3 and PC owners. NO! They were making business decisions. The only bad decision I see with the DLC is that it was released to late.

So, once again, I say: I will be giving this "evil" (translation: normal) company my money ASAP because they deserve it for making an amazing series of games that have brought enjoyment to millions of people for over a decade.

Yes I was one of the reasons why the DLC threads were kept open and I took a lot of sh*t for it and now because I am some "turn coat" I am still taking a lot of sh*t for it. As I have already said I have no interest in participating on the GTA forum any more but people like YOU foohy keep trying to drag me in. I only posted in here to correct the misconception that I would be "happy" at what Rockstar have done.

Yeah Rockstar they are a great business sarcasm.gif they have the most successful games franchise of all time but they still have to beg and borrow loans from Microsoft to keep afloat. They took a $50 million loan and in exchange stuck the finger up at 5 million PS3 fans and nearly 2 million PC fans. Yeah my god Sam and Dan should be teaching other companies how to do business.

You know it's funny whenever a PS3 owner expressed dissatisfaction with the fact the DLC was Xbox exclusive only Rockstar would reply with "hey don't worry we will take care of you". Yet whenever a PC owner asked for a simple explanation as to why we got the TLaD achievements it was "shut the f*ck up" and "stop mentioning it or we will ban you". The last FAQ they did contained NOTHING about the PC, they were quite keen to drop a heavy hint for their PS3 fans but they didn't say a f*cking thing about the PC.

My issue with Rockstar is NOT that they have delayed the DLC till now, my issue is that they treated their PC fans with utter contempt for the past 2-3 months. All they needed to do was do a quick "hey guys we hear you and we will take care of you keep your eye out" you know JUST like they did with PS3 fans.

I don't expect Rockstar to hold my hand but I expect them to behave with a bit of f*cking decency, threatening to ban users and telling them to "shut up" is not acting decently towards your fan base. It was pretty clear that their PC customers/fans were becoming frustrated with not only the issues that the latest patch brought but also the unclear indications as to whether the PC was getting the DLC. Yet Rockstar responded with silence and when PC users made too much noise it was "shut up or else".

So, once again, I say: I will be giving this "evil" (translation: normal) company my money ASAP because they deserve it for making an amazing series of games that have brought enjoyment to millions of people for over a decade.

So once again I shall repeat myself "I never called them evil" you are the one that keeps labelling them as that. I am a PC gamer and when a company treats me with utter contempt as Rockstar has been doing then forgive me if I don't feel inclined to give that company my money.

It is pretty hurtful to desert us, then come back pissed at Rockstar for doing something you begged them for in their blog comments.

That is my point I have NOT come back, but people keep dragging me into this. Look if you are happy about the DLC coming then great get on with talking about it, but LEAVE me out of it. I care about the GTA franchise on the PC as much as Rockstar does now (ie not very f*cking much). Now this is my last post on things if you are happy with the way Rockstar has handled things then good for you, I am not which is why I don't bother with GTAF any more. I accept this is a place for GTA fans to discuss the GTA franchise and as such I shouldn't be posting here. Now leave me out of the discussion and I will stop posting it is that simple.

Your choice, holmes. At least we're thinking of you - your name came up in excitement, not haste. It was not until you came back to GTAF with disgust in your tone that people called a spade a spade.

Says a lot about the real danger of this credit crunch when one of the top wealthy game developers needs a Microsoft Money Bump to getterdone, yea? And besides that, who ever said they NEEDED that money? The deal looked more like Microsoft knowing they were dead unless they got GTA to release a different time than halo3 and to have something about GTA exclusive to themselves, since GTA coming out equal on PS3 in the same week as halo would have destroyed the Xbox 360. Many ways to look at it, the above quoted really isn't one of them unless you ignore that the whole world is broke, let alone game companies who spend 100+ million dollars on your entertainment.

Weren't you the one who used to talk about how the main market is in the consoles and at least Rockstar still gives us a PC version? Oh, that was me, but you agreed. And I agree now: PC gamers catch the short stick in the public and from Rockstar, but it's not like we're really keeping the lights on... Live and PSN players are doing that.

That's where it gets a bit over-reacty. They didn't need to do that, we're the ones who are on their site when they post news, we're the ones who are on their fanmade sites talking about the games, we're the ones who are doing it all for them, and they didn't truly hint GTA specifically to PS3 players, and they couldn't. Mentioning the PS3 was ambiguous enough that they might just mean agent, they might just mean some PS3 content for GTA, but if they would have said PC too, it would have been obvious and probably would have conflicted with the year long agreement with Microsoft.

It was pretty ridiculous to be posting off topic on their blog posts. We all did it, it was internets-haha for the first couple of days, but then it was charlie about pc again and again and it caught on, people followed your footsteps, and you presented a problem. I'd tell you to shut up if you went to my blog and started telling me what to do in a place you're supposed to be commenting on what I wrote as well.

If someone came into a GTA IV topic about weapons and started asking for modding help or else, you would have told them to shut up, 3 day banned them, or otherwise removed the off-topic element from the discussion in respect of the topic starter - your actions @ rockstar's newswire were like that of an off topic nature and you gotta admit, if it was GTAF, you were the guy posting youtube videos in the funny picture topic.

So once again I shall repeat myself "I never called them evil" you are the one that keeps labelling them as that.  I am a PC gamer and when a company treats me with utter contempt as Rockstar has been doing then forgive me if I don't feel inclined to give that company my money.

Disgruntled consumers have rights, too. At the very least, you are creating more passion for the game and perhaps strengthening its future for our eventual enjoyment and yours. Words change minds. Obviously no one is on a bandwagon of someone who is hating on Rockstar at a site based on being fans of them (as you would have told any of the haters when the game first came out... hypocritical tbh)

It is pretty hurtful to desert us, then come back pissed at Rockstar for doing something you begged them for in their blog comments.

Leave yourself out of it, as you promise there with your last post on things. A lot of people had a hard time for breaking rules under your watch. You've managed to bust down the forum commandments, on a blog, then turn against the company that you used to cheer under. You're entitled to your opinion like everyone else on this planet, I respect it whether others do or not, but keep it real ChubbaChaz, you "see what it feels like" now.

The reason that they didn't "wink wink nudge nudge" at PC users is that they don't have any OTHER games coming in the near future exclusive to PC. They were able to double-entendre PS3 users because of Agent. "Hey don't worry we will take care of you" could have been taken as "Yeah, EfLC is coming but we can't tell you that," or as "Don't worry, you are getting an exclusive too, and its a full game!"

How am I "dragging you back in"? If you don't want to reply, don't. Simple.

And yea, R* has been rather lacking with PC support but can you blame them? PC gaming is far from dead but it's also not in it's prime. From the sound of it you weren't told to shut up and threatened with a ban due to your PC support, you were threatened with a ban because you were spamming the comments with off topic stuff.

Oh, and DON'T reply to this! You're obviously upset and should give up GTAforums. Getting upset on the internet about video games is about the lowest of the low and, frankly, you deserve better. Not sarcasm.

Damn missed a lot around here. CC took off and is all pissy lol. More so then he was before. To bad the guy got burnt out. Was cool having him around taking charge. Doesn't seem the same around here without him...

Anyway, I'm not about to get all excited just yet. Sure I can't wait to be f*cking around in TLAD and TBoGT (parachutes and sh*t cmon!), but I don't want to have to wait PATIENTLY! just to get a complete game (before patches no tickers, clock, etc) as I had to with IV. Sure they weren't game breaking (still could complete the story) but really...Then just about every patch would break something else lol, but I did just recently reinstall IV and it's a blast as always though. The sh*t never gets old lol.

I just hope they can get w/e straight for these "DLC's". I hope I don't have to wait on patch 1.0.0.10 to get those complete as well...so I'll just wait PATIENTLY! after the release to see if they have or not. If not I'm really not sure I can support them any longer. But they do make some really great games! DAMN! tounge.gif

They gotta be kidding...

One year and a half later the game is still bug ridden (PC).

Everyone already watched the episode missions play on YT, there was no hope..

The episodes will split the few online players left (cheater heaven btw) betwean 3 builds, one that offers little new content and another that makes gta iv.. gay.

Thanks but no thanks, theres plenty of new games coming out.

CharmingCharlie, if you are upset because Rockstar was a little bit unclear about a DLC for PC, and if you're not happy that they want to ban and lock because specific stuff is discussed, what are you going to do about that?

Seriously, it doesn't make them change their mind. If you think R* is the only one doing this, go and take a look at the official Codemasters forum, mainly Grid and Fuel. Fuel had many topics locked because we managed to edit camera's ingame, and Grid had a DLC of 6 cars (for over 5 euro's) that was announced in April 2008, and still hasn't been announced/released for PC.

Not to mention TDU. X360 peeps got carpack after carpack, and PC didn't get anything. Anything, untill about 1,5 years after release, when we were given a 15 euro's Megapack with 45 out of over 50 vehicles ever released for the game (so we had to miss one carpack). They also never told us anything, and the official atariforum was flooded maybe once every two months, with over 300 new topics per day containing WHERE THE *INSERT_HERE* IS CARPACK WE WANT OMG YOU *INSERT_HERE_AGAIN*.

And guess what, we can spam what we want, and shout what we want, it ain't going to change anything. You should be happy with R* not taking years to release one patch and no content, I have never seen as good support as R*'s support. I'm not saying they're the best, but if you think this was bad, go and look around. At least they help out on the forums, they do not work against mods for the game, and they brought out several patches.

That CharmingCharlie guy ALWAYS had serious issues, so his insane ranting here is nothing new. At all. But beneath his extreme immaturity, he his correct in how R* has treated the PC version of GTA IV like utter garbage, it's incredible to me that this game still has massive issues after FOUR patches. I still have multiple issues with it on my PC, and this is the absolute only game released in years that I have had trouble with. Any other game works great on my PC (crysis, bioshock, cod: mw2, fallout 3, oblivion, sims, spore, street fighter iv, burnout paradise, mass effect...it goes on and on) but yet this stupid game STILL crashes, still has texture issues, still gives me a black screen during cut scenes, and it goes on and on. It's an embarrassment.

Some people take video games WAAAAY too seriously...

It is usually the smallest changes in character that divide us the most.

You deserve better

Well, that's sorta Charlie's stance if we think about it - and he does deserve better, and he feels you deserve better. He feels the PC deserves better. When people get passionate, sometimes it's really showing just how much they do care. Charlie might have had it "up to here" with Rockstar and might be better off without the hassle on his mind, but I have to admit he was vigilant for the PC release before during and after the big bang on release day, before it was announced, and the same for the episodes. He was caring about fairness and also didn't abuse his position as a moderator in the face of a lot of crap and usually kept it to the words and only locked things that were nuts.

None of us can take away that he knew right along with us. wink.gif

(before patches no tickers, clock, etc)

That's a great idea, it would be cool if GTANet made one. Anyone got flash skills for an EFLC countdown?

And Charlie is not an insane person or out of hand and I've been called that many-a-times by people who took things out of context or formulated their own opinion without being able to hear the inflection in my tone, only read, and interpret on their own how they wish to see it, the words I said. The cool things about forums is that it's okay to an extent. It's not a chit chat. It's a Discussion. And things can sometimes get heated before the end of a discussion.

And there were a lot of frikken noobs when Charlie was around and I remember making some of the faces you see in the episodes from liberty city fans reactions topic when reading some of the weird sh*t he gave his time to. Next, people will say "shouldn't have spent the time" - but that could undermine how much perhaps someone cares for a community, and anger them with feelings of being betrayed.

Charlie is our peer. He was a mod once, but now just because he isn't, I mean, look, you don't wait to punch who you consider a bully until the moment their hands are tied. Likewise, when people take the time to say something at all, usually, you can be sure they must care about who they are talking to. So you know guys, let's not chase the guy away forever, eh? Remember, as the example shows, it could be you.

Going over all the CC related thing (which I couldn't care less), do you think Rockstar Toronto will do the port of EFLC to PC, just like they did with GTA IV?

I know that Rockstar North is working on Agent and (presumably) working on the next GTA too. But maybe they will port this pack of Episodes to the PC, like they did with previous games?

I don't really like the idea of having Rockstar Toronto porting the games. I mean, it is obvious they messed up GTA IV on the PC. On the other hand, they surely have more knowledge now about RAGE and all that, so maybe they will do a proper job.

What do you think? turn.gif

Actually, I'm pretty sure that he meant how the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: IV hadn't a working clock on the Clock Tower and how the tickers at Star Junction didn't work either, along with other bugs, until a certain patch was released (which was the cause for other bugs). And now, that I mentioned all this, it makes me think about Hydro_PT last post and wonder who's going to do the port for Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City for PC this time ?

I mean, would they let Rockstar Toronto do the port, again, after what they did with the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: IV ? On the other hand though, I shouldn't complain too much since I don't seem to experience most of the problems other users seem to have, and not to mention that Rockstar Toronto has got some more experience after porting the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: IV, but still.

I don't know, but, the idea that Rockstar North (for example) would do the port this time sounds much safer to me than the idea that Rockstar Toronto would do it.

Obviously, they're going to re-use R* Toronto's Windows version, merging in the changes and converting the content to zlib/adpcm/little-endian. Do you really think they're going to re-port everything? It would have been better if they did, but still, they won't.

Sadly, PC players will get Toronto's engine, while PS3 players get the bugless initial North one, with all the X360 fixes. Luckily, the only issue I have with GTA IV PC is the not-too-high framerate. The shadow bugs, odd patterns and LOD glitches don't bother me at all - and didn't EFLC/360 also have LODalicious glitches?

On serious note, those shadow bugs - they aren't bugs. It is how Rockstar made them. There isn't, unfortunately, really much what you can do about them. And about those LOD glitches (and hopefully by glitches you mean glitches like how the LOD model of a 3D object appears in front of you instead of the actual model of it and not miles away from you how it is supposed to do)- well, as far as I'm aware about this, they are caused by poor hardware and/or improperly use of the graphic settings and/or command lines in the commandline.txt file located in your Grand theft Auto: IV root folder.

However, I must admit that those LOD glitches also occur in my game sometimes after playing for several hours, mostly in multiplayer. Nothing serious though.
