"V" isn't stupid "IV" has had a small era including Episodes from LC and Chinatown wars.

BTW Episodes from LC is a complete game when but together as R* stated.

On that note I reckon instead of follwing characters from IV into V they just did IV with 2 DLC's and Chinatown wars which accounted for what we would usually see, new GTA's. I think they might do the same with V. One main game, 2 or more DLC's.

The Nefarious
So, it wont be called GTA V eh?

There was never much doubt in my mind that it would be called GTA V to be honest.

My idea:

the game setting is washington, probably baltimora and philly(with cheese steak panini) so they didn't find any good name for it, and they called it "V" I'm sure there will be connections with GTAIV era.

Next era, the VI or probably san andreas 2

Wow was just about to post this. If anyone wants context:

In 1899, the U.S. Mint issued the first and only bank note to feature a Native American as the central portrait: Running Antelope, a celebrated chief of the Uncpapa band of Sioux.

Old and rare paper notes like this unique $5 silver certificate are amazing works of art. The intricate detail of Chief Running Antelope’s facial features and headdress are absolutely stunning. This unique bill caused quite a scandal when it was issued due to a mistake of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, who used the headdress of a rival tribe, the Pawnee, on Running Antelope.

This beautiful note was the first and only U.S. paper currency to feature a Native American.

Issued for only a short time, the $5 Indian Head Note is extremely rare and in high demand. Order yours today!

Hmmm, I wonder what that could mean? First and only native American on a dollar? I wonder

I hope they keep the name to GTA V. I can't wait see the trailer as this should reveal where it's set and maybe the protagonist.

I think the V is for the name of the GTA title not the number. For an example Grand Theft Auto: Vegas. But then again why does it say five?.

Cuz like some others said, the whole I, II, III, IV, V thing from rockstar probably means that it's on that generations consoles.

Regarding the bank note. Just seen that. My guess is they saw it as part of their RDR research, and thought "that'd make a cool GTA V logo". Probably no more connection than that, although I could be wrong.

I share your view, I think V is a name or something. I don't think they would put a V (Roman Numeral) and "FIVE" in the same logo. Unless they realised from the last GTA that not the whole world knows about Roman Numerals and thus fore wanted to say "GTA V" but then thought we'll make it "GTA FIVE" so people know what we're doing.

I don't know. :L

This thread is a bit weird. Going by the OP. The V is for 5 because its the 5th game, just like IV was the 4th. They haven't released an inbetween game because that has already been done in the form on DLC. DLC is what everyone is doing now instead of releasing a whole new game they just add on an addition which gets them money from doing very little work. Especially for GTA since DLC will be in the same city so all they really have to do is add cars/missions and whatever else. Could be done in a 3weeks or so after deciding what's going on. DLC is what will be the inbetween games for GTA and well, most other games.

EDIT: Just seen the OP was posted in Jan. Ignore.

The point of the 5 is to refer to money, the green pattern, the font of the V and then add in the five with the font on money. They are going for one of two things, throwing us off the trail, or hinting at something in the game. The whole point of "FIVE" is to help drive home the point of money.

Does this mean the protagonist will be an American with Native heritage? Like Louis Diamond Philips in one of the best action comedy movies ever The Big Hit? His character Cisco is AWESOME biggrin.gif

Yes and the way TBOGT finished has made me now think that the next GTA is in fact going to be called "GTA V" because when the plane leaves the runway at the end look at the actual runnway and yiu will see the "V" sign meaning the next GTA is in fact going to be called "GTA V". Also on the plane tail it has a date and the intitials L J K which could hint to the setting if you ut them together it reads LJK which looks like UK but who knows.

At 13:30 you will see the "V":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGOiJCufj1c
