SeraphimSoldier
How come when my phone rings, the signal on my PS3 drops from 85%-90% to 30%? P.S. I'm using a wireless router.

SWEETSAPRIK
My guess would be signal interference. See what frequency the phone uses (it is most likely 2.4 GHz), then look into your router's settings to see if you can change the channel. The channels in the router will be between 2.412 and 2.484 so you won't be able to get that far, but you might get lucky. If not, you might just be better off buying a higher end phone that uses 5.8. Tornado Rex
If it's your home phone that's causing the issues, then what I said is probably right. Read Sweet's post and do what he said and all should be well. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
SeraphimSoldier
Well, I went from channekl 2 to 6 and that seems to solve the problem (the phone just rung and it stayed at 90%). Thanks for the help.
Wolf68k
Cordless phones and microwaves can interfere with Wifi signals. And as you found out changing the channel the Wifi uses can help out.
Chargr
The problem is your cordless phone, not that big of a problem though. According to AT&T, Cordless phones effect your Internet Speed since they require a bit more of energy. Not sure how exactly, but when I would disconnect my cordless phone, the test brought up by AT&T would show some improvement. I can bet that is what's going on. Just last month tech support came to my house and did same test I'm talking about. And they pretty much told me the cause of low speeds are caused by Cordless phones and their low battery. He's not talking about download speeds. He's talking about wireless signal strength. If your internet speeds are slow when a phone or anything else plugged into a phone line is used AND you're on DSL that means you need a filter between the wall and the phone or device. If it's still doing it with a filter in place then maybe the filter is bad and try another filter.
Slamman
@Gangsta Killa, my reply was about my initial response, corelated to how I use devices, that's what I was describing. I wasn't thinking of a Wireless phone, as I don't use one, nor have ever owned one. It was meant again in humor, but sure, it wasn't useful or needed. Why humor must be banned I don't know. Humor is not banned. The problem is there was no humor involved here. You weren't being funny. You didn't even enter the same area code as funny. All you did was make yet another pointless post in another thread about a subject you know nothing about. In the future, please take any questions about warnings and such into PMs as to not further hijack topics. Thanks in advance. Back on topic, to the OP - does your signal fade if you have the phone on and it's not ringing, or when you're using it? This kind of makes me curious as to whether my phone is causing any interference with my wireless signal strength. If it's a 2.4 GHtz it could be causing some. Edit: There could also be interference, like people have said, if there's a Microwave or anything in between your router and the PC it's connecting to. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
