this mod throws me back even further than Mafia... im talking about the first Driver here sigh.gif

Hehehehe, didn't played first driver, only 3 and 4, but this realy makes driving more relaxing than in driver 3, 4 and Mafia biggrin.gif Great job. Always in the game I was crashing at hi-speeds...and it was annoying, and when I tryed to drive like normal citizen, it cost me my patience...now it's really awesome, and you can still drive fast and it's even more fun than before, becoz you get cops on your azz!

Hallo HippieCommunist! Happy New Year to everyone biggrin.gif ! Glad to see another very nice mod from you! I ll try it and report back if there is any problem. The idea of the ini file is very good (and the option to turn off the messages!).

I had another idea as I was playing; Would it be possible to make a mod where randomly (the density could be setted with an ini file) police chaces will take place in the city? While you are driving or walking some police cars could be passing by, chasing (or even firing at) a suspet in a car (who could sometimes fire back). This would add some more realism in the city.

Here's my idea: When having weapon in your hands, you'll get warning to hide it, and if you won't, the result will be same as for breaking any of driving laws, not like getting one star rapidly but nearest cop cars will search for you. And 2nd: After death you'll lose all illegall weapons. (So it means all weapons except for knife, bat, pistol, shotgun)

i like that idea. if your weapon is drawn and a cop is very close to u than u can get "slightly wanted", but it should be only when the policeman is close to you (unless u r firing) . maybe about 20 meters?

 

if any of u played "the saboteur" there is a very nice stealth system in there. evading the nazis on the hardest difficulty is pretty cool. i wonder if a stealth system can be implemented into GTAIV like immidiate silent kills, sneaking up on AIs, using silent pistols (right now the silenced modded weapons only look and sound silenced while the AI reacts to them the same as every other weapon) or blending into crowds or something by walking slowly near other peds at a distance.

if to expand my ideas a lil bit:

 

1) blending in - if the player is moving in the same speed as peds around him, and there are 3 peds (maybe 3 is too much? less maes less sense though) near him (5 meters? less?) than he is invisible to enemies (cops?AIs that spawned with mods?) that are farther than 30 meters away for about 10 seconds. maybe longer. needs testing. if the peds around the player are running than the player should run too. probably too complicated to see if peds around the player are moving or not. probably easiest to tell the game that blending is possible only if the player is walking or something.

 

2) one hit kill - it could use the animation of the hit when holding a weapon. for some reason until 1.0.0.4 it wasnt possible (i thknk that in earlier patches the ESC key ddid that animation but u cant use it that way. stupid R*). i dont even think it should NOT be only from behind. i think that if its done from the front too than it's ok. could use the F key, since the F key does nothing unless u r near a car and u would try to gun-butt someone near a car. dunno if its possible to make it do a "one-hit-kill" when u r not near a car but if u ARE near a car than it will be "enter car".

 

3) player is recognision by cops - recognizing the player as the wanted man (which terns stars from grey to white) if he is seen from the front faster than if he is seen from behind and make him recognizable slower if he isnt holding a weapon. if player is holding a pistol than he is considered hostlie only from up close (20 meters maybe?). if he is holding a rifle than he can be recognized as a hostile from farther away (from 50 meters or something).

 

these are my basic ideas. u can take them or through them in my face and call me a douche. smile.gif just putting them out there.

I'd like to report a possible bug(?). I use the 1.0.3.0 version and occasionaly when I used this mod (v.1.2) I had a crash of the game especially when I was doing one from the contact missions mod. If anyone else had the same problem please report. Thanks.

but thats for later on... no time now (finally got my own place!).

nope... coz you need to have a minimal speed for it to be considered a felony.

 

i assume that by now everybody uses a modded (powered) Handling.cfg, and so its alot more easy to shake the cops by driving away fast... this balances the things abit

@AngryA - its not a bug... it means no cop have witnessed your feloney... my mod's 1 wanted star is in fact a half star unless there is a cop around.

could you consider as I had originally asked:

 

The file copbootsearch.sco ( in common/data/cdimages/script.img).

Goes to a cut sceen where the cop is digging in your trunk then approaches the car door stating one of the following:

 

"you were: speeding/going the wrong way/wreckless driving".

 

I was wondering if there was a way to use this and give a ticket when you are speeding or going the wrong way instead of going to jail?

 

But I am glad to see that you did decide to make this mod for us all to enjoy.

hey man, i suggest to have a ticket system for most of the felonies...i mean it's kind of too much to get chased by cops and then shot/arrested for driving by a red light or on the wrong side of the road wink.gif maybe we can automatically get charged of a money amount for the respective infraction...

Hello,

 

I'm really enjoying this mod works really well, great for use with bus mod and taxi missions for realism.

 

One question though, could this mod be updated with an "Enable" / "Disable" option for key bindings?

 

When I'm in the mood to cause mayhem or play the story its sometimes nice to disable it. So far I simply use trainer to set "Never wanted" but that's a workaround and messages still show etc.

works great thanks, and i agree a key to turn it on/off would be great but make it so people can choose what key to use for it.

 

What would make this mod even better if it could be made so you dont get always arrested but also get like speed tickets you have to pay or get a ticket for running a red light and such, i dont know if this can be done ?

Interesting mod. At first I thought it might be fun, but found it a little too harsh for my personal tastes. I'd be all over it if there was a mode that would only give you 1 star if Police were in visual range. Right now I'm getting a star with only civilians around.

 

Would be nice to be able to select the individual on/off options for the following features.

 

-running a red light

-driving against traffic

-driving fast on pavement

-colliding with another vehicle

-destroying property

 

 

On another note, any plans to update your bank robbery mod?

LOL, no exceptions dude! If you are bad, the police will chase you notify.gif (or the civilian rats will call 911 and tell the police)

The best thing is that you get the so called "half star" that is removed if police don't see you actually commiting the felony.
