Traffic Felony MOD by HippieCommunist (works with 1.0.4)

since no1 seem to make this...

have a more realistic felony system that gives the player

a new wanted level star if one abuses the following laws:

 

-running a red light

-driving against traffic

-driving fast on pavement

-colliding with another vehicle

-destroying preperty

 

*ini option to display messages

*system updated - now only if the police SEE you comite the felony, you will be chased.

Haven't tested a whole lot yet, but it seems pretty awesome. All the felony warnings showed up when they should, and gave me 1 star after too much lawlessness. Does the mod check whether you're visible to police, or if police are within a certain distance to the player?

 

Only found one mistake so far: the message about "wreckless driving" should be "reckless driving". Reckless = careless, wreckless = without wrecks.

 

I would prefer the felony warnings to be smaller and maybe on a different part of the screen, so it would be great if we could configure these things in an ini file.

Indeed it was fun, and to get chased only when the cops see you is that thing that I'd have suggested One suggestion here: if they got you, delete the wanted level once they stopped you, and subtract a nice fine.

 

If no Cop sees you, nothing happens. But, what about making a random warning, just lets say two out of ten times:

A civilian has informed the cops. You are sought for the next hour.

Ingame time of course, with police being shown on the radar if possible.

I'm using aru's scripthook v0.2.6 and xliveless v0.97, with GTA4 patched to 1.0.3.

 

I like the idea of peds sometimes reporting your crimes, especially for vehicle/property damage and endangering pedestrians. I also like the idea of a 'half-star' wanted level where you just get a fine. When you combine this mod and the prison mod, you can go to prison just for running a red light.

 

Edit: Just encountered some kind of bug, maybe. Or maybe a feature. Pulled up to a red light and stopped, but apparently not fast enough because it said I ran the light and I got a star. I assume this is GTA4's fault, not having the intersection boundaries in the proper place. So I just sat there a moment, and after 4 or 5 seconds my wanted star went away. I guess you coded this to fix GTA4's bug?

nope... coz you need to have a minimal speed for it to be considered a felony.

 

i assume that by now everybody uses a modded (powered) Handling.cfg, and so its alot more easy to shake the cops by driving away fast... this balances the things abit

 

@AngryA - its not a bug... it means no cop have witnessed your feloney... my mod's 1 wanted star is in fact a half star unless there is a cop around.

its not that easy to make niko just pay a fine but ill try to find a way

I don't know if this speed check is working properly, because I was sitting at a red light, 0 mph. I got rear-ended and the cops started chasing me—for being hit by some asshat AI driver.

 

Easy solution though, just lose the cops. The rest of the mod is great.

*PoliceTolerance=600 - how annoying are the cops about traffic felonies; set to 800+ for easier driving.

 

*VehicleDamageFelony=1 - should vehicular damage be taken in consideration.

 

*LookOutTime=160 - how much time should a traffic look-out last.

 

*more clear police dispatch messaging.

The mod is awesomemness!

Here's my idea: When having weapon in your hands, you'll get warning to hide it, and if you won't, the result will be same as for breaking any of driving laws, not like getting one star rapidly but nearest cop cars will search for you. And 2nd: After death you'll lose all illegall weapons. (So it means all weapons except for knife, bat, pistol, shotgun)

This mod is very well done. I give you props, I love this mod. I have noticed a lot of detail too. For example the dispatch radio announces the speed limit you are going when disobeying the "speed limit law". I think if a cop could pull you over and ticket you for traffic violations then this mod would be one of the most realistic out there. Good Job!

well its all fixed now... and with boats.... and with police vehicles.
