Its Here! The GTA IV REAL RECORDED GUNSOUNDS pack

Recommended Posts

same here, just grabbed v3 but it extracted as v2

There should be very subtle differences between the two. Does the RAR package say Real_Recorded_Gunsounds_Mod_V3? if not go to the gtagarage site and download it, it should work.

MattyDienhoff

I have all three versions in my downloads here so I'll try to sort this confusion out.

The newest archive is named "Real_Recorded_Gunsounds_Mod_V3.rar", but the folder within the archive is named "Real Recorded Gunsounds Mod V2", this is probably the source of the confusion. The WEAPONS.ivaud file within is definitely different to the one from the V2 archive, though. Different filesize.

What really confuses me is, the video from the first post is said to be of version 3, but the pistol, shotgun and AK sounds heard in the video match those from "Real_Recorded_Gunsounds_Mod_V2.rar". They're different again in V3.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about anything, just providing information. smile.gif

Thanks again for the mod jclewis and friends. It's top work as usual. Sound effects can be very subjective but your mods (I use the one you made for Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 too) always sound right to me. They're a massive improvement over the default sounds. colgate.gif

Ok ill clear that up, it is V2 because I must have not changed that title. I checked, and the sounds in the v3 download are the most updated sounds. The video posted regarding v3 used a previous glock shotgun and sk sound you are right, but I polished them and made it a little better after releasing the vid, and the newest sounds are in the v3 pack.'

BtW I am planning to firing more gunsounds either this month or next month for release of the next mod for tbogt! Any donations for the team are highly appreciated!

It's good but on that video with your shooting team you didn't even show us a real gangstra thing... You're not a gangstra biggrin.gif It's Micro-UZI! Da best weapon ever made. Is there any sound for UZI? I just hate to mod GTA IV but I liked it. Good job anyways.

It seems that with modding GTA Lost and dammed, some of some of the crashing sounds will not be heard with the mod. I've tried some other gunsound mods for TLAD and pretty much its the same issue. So its a trade off, I personally dont mind having the recorded gunsounds in TLAD in replace of some of the crashing sounds. But if it bothers you THAT much, you could always use the sound effects editor and try to replace the gun sounds in the TLAD mod in your your own gta files yourself.

Thanks for finally responding/commenting on the matter.

Still in my opinion you should have let us know there wouldn't be coming any kind of fix at all.

Ugh, the lack of crashing sounds on TLAD annoys me. So is it a space issue or what? Can't be because the modded one is larger anyway. Methinks it's another stupid memory buffer problem like we have with modded cars where the game has a stroke and decides to only spawn taxis for a while because it can't handle the larger memory footprint of the modded cars.

Any progress on this?

Alrighty, you can avoid the missing crashing sounds by only modifying resident.rpf and leaving EP%_SFX.rpf alone. You won't get the modded sounds for DLC-only weapons, but all the regular weapons will have them. It's a compromise I can live with for now.

Thanks for the solution, but i want to mod the most of them and i forgot to back-up the file (dumbass smile.gif) so ill leave it be.

BTW, has anybody donated already?? I tell you honestly i'm not even planning on doing it. Don't take me wrong but the "modmaker" takes ages to respond on comments or tries to ignore them for as long as possible. Releases a "broken" file, promises a file fix wich never comes and then just says there won't be a fix at all. Then there is the question 'when WILL there be new sounds', no release date or planned release date is given. After that he also starts to ask us for money because he has to rent guns?! (and if i understand it well we won't even have ALL the guns then). I just think thats is a bold move... Sorry but i'm not supporting this mod.

Maybe we better contact THIS guy for gun sound recordings!

Can anyone clue me in on how to install this mod? I have sparkIV but I found the install tips vague (I am new to modding GTA4). In line 3 it says "export the weapons.ivaud." Where am i exporting this to? Further, do i open the file from sparkIV? Then in line 11 it says "import weapons.ivaud." Again, import to where? Just kind of confused here.

Hei to everyone,i just registered here to ask about help with this mod.

I never moded GTA4 before so i never used Spark and right now i'm buffling how to install this mod with the program. I Downloaded version 3 of this modification,i also got more realistic ballistics but first i thought to install this one,so i am reading tutorial and i am stuck at this part.

"Export WEAPONS.ivaud and save it in a backup folder" Don't know where to find this so i could export it then import new one.

A question. Should it look like this? When I remove the original 'WEAPONS' the game wont start up, it just stops on the text before the rockstar-logos.

EDIT: Tried it with SparkIV now, the files looked better there smile.gif Although, when the file has been replaced, its the same problem? The game starts up and shows the two first text-screens, but stop there before starting with the rockstar-logos.. what can that be?

If you add or replace audio files with OpenIV make sure to remove ".ivaud" extension form file.

And after all, the file must be not compressed:

Though some of the sounds still sound a bit off (they should be more similar), this is the only gun sound mod worth installing, IMO. Great job!

Bringing that one ghetto guy in the white shirt who throws up gang signs and wears bling is quite questionable and a bit unsafe, but the rest of your team doesn't seem bad at all. You appear to be the only one that can aim in that group...anyway, some questions. Did you rent all these guns? Have any in your own arsenal? Could you provide more details on your mic setup? Also, is your buddy Pat actually Levar Burton?

Cheers for this mod.

Thanks! Yes I own all of the firearms except for the one the officers let me shoot of course. As far as mics, our other buddy had a high quality mic built into his camera, and I edited the effects once transferred into the computer to fit properly into the game. Thanks for your kind words! cant wait to mod gunsoudns for GTA V!!

Maybe this is a pointless necropost, but felt like sharing after figuring it out a fix for the missing car crashing sounds.

To get both crashing and new weapon sounds, it seems the modified RESIDENT_WEAPON.ivaud must not be larger than the original. The recorded gun sounds are fairly long, and by cutting out their long echoes, I managed to get the ivaud from 3 652 KB to 3 207 KB, which is actually smaller than the game's original. This fixes all the missing sounds, but you lose some of that realistic long echo.

You can probably be more efficient by trying to exactly match the original sound sizes.

@EaterOfShoes

So it has nothing to do with the frequency of sounds ?

Normal gun sound in standard GTA IV have a 44khz frequency .

Episodes only guns have a 28khz frequency , which it is not common as none of any audio tool to my knowledge can convert into that frequency ( maybe a custom Rockstar one ? ) .

If i replace M249 gun sound with another one ( 44 khz ) , sound works but not the car crash ones .

If i replace M249 gun sound with custom one ( 28khz with Audacity ) , game crash as soon as i try to shoot .
