Voodoo
Archer is a new animated series on FX from Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, the creators of Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021.Set at an international spy agency known as ISIS, Archer is the story of a group of highly trained combatants. Rather than take the global crises they are called up for seriously, the team often use them as opportunities to confuse, betray, and just royally screw each other. Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) is the top secret agent at the International Secret Intelligence Service - ISIS. He's just like James Bond... if Bond was completely devoid of empathy and had serious mother issues. These issues complicate the fact that his mother is Malory Archer, the head of ISIS. This leads to the two butting heads on a regular basis. It also doesn't help that both his Ex- long time girlfriend, Lana Kane, and her new lover Cyril Figgis both work for ISIS as well. His code name is "Duchess" and while Malory claims it was a randomly generated name through the ISIS computer, it also happens to be the name of her beloved deceased dog. Archer loves to live the extravagant lifestyle while on missions at the company's expense and leaves a trail of broken hearts behind him, but what he lacks in self control and tact, he makes up for in his skills as an Agent. Frisky Dingo was absolutely brilliant. When Adult Swim passed on the the third season and its spin off, The Xtacles, I thought they were insane. Thankfully, FX picked them up last year and I've been waiting patiently ever since for this new project. After watching the first two eps, I can definitely say that this was worth the wait. If you get FX, check this show out. It's hilarious. I think hulu is also showing it.Archer on FX Edited February 5, 2014 by Voodoo Ivan1997GTA
Spaghetti Cat
Yeah I wanted to post something here the other night when it premiered, but ya beat me to it!! It's a damn funny show, if you liked sealab 2021, like I did, then you're gonna want to see this. Also the computers on the show are pretty funny. The second show, with Archer trying to break into the mainframe, was classic No Image Available

GamerShotgun
Sorry for the bump, but I didn't want to open a new topic for this show.Just wanted to tell you guys that especially after the direction change they've done this season, Archer is more and more resembling GTA in style. I mean... just take a look at how this looks. It's just awesome.I think it's really underrated though.

GamerShotgun
Wow! At first I was like "wtf".Sorry for spoiling it for you, but that was a promotional picture shared on facebook. Also, I somehow knew Lana is going to be a mother at some point in the show... but apart from that, I'm highly recommending it to anyone who has a bit of free time on his/her hand. Johan
Wow, why's this topic so quiet? Archer's been awesome since it went vice. That last episode was great! Agreed, saw the last episode with my girlfriend yesterday and it was nothing but laughter at times. I agree with Voodoo as well, Pam had a great part in that episode. FullMetal
Amber Nash is the sh*t. Krieger finally gets the screentime he deserves and god they are getting better and better at it. There were some episodes (I almost halfway thru the season) I found 'less' than the usual Archer quality but overall this season has been fantastic. Seriously, best animated show around at the moment. For having a quite bland, 'unoriginal' ('James Bond parody') setting it's actually f*cking original. Back in the day when it was first announced/teased I thought it looked cool (drawing/animating style is f*cking superb/unique) but never started watching it. Until yeah, last two years finally got into it again. I'll never regret not jumping on this from day 1. And oh, this sh*t is so underrated. I even dare say The Simpsons, South Park and Archer are pretty much the only animated series worth watching. Abel. and Voodoo
RoadRunner71
Great show, I'm waiting for the Vice season to get translated to Spanish to watch it (I began to watch it in that language so now feels a bit odd to watch it in English) and I'm looking really forward to it. The only thing that kinda breaks the "immersion" in this show for me is the continuous anachronisms. I know it's not meant to be serious but mobile phones and public internet in the 70's, what the hell? It's hilarious anyway.
Voodoo
Actually, the time frame of the series is intentionally ambiguous. There are many 60s and 70s style themes but they are mixed with contemporary ones. The closest they get to actually telling us the year is in season 2. From the wiki - During the "Pipeline Fever" episode, Archer mentions an alligator attack that happened two years ago which was a real attack. The attack took place in 1989 which places the story roughly around 1991. I love all of the 70's cars and trappings, though. Such a great show. Tchuck
See when Archer started. Real life ISIS was nothing more than a tiny blip on the world's radar. Also they've addressed that in the first episode of the newest season. Also, mulatto butt's is my ringtone. My wife does not approve. Ivan1997GTA
Awesome. But I hope this "Danger Island" season will have some more scenes taking place outside of Sterling's coma. Maybe we could learn how Woodhouse died and who Sterling's real father is. Heck, maybe Katya Kasanova could make an appearance, telling Cyril, Lana, Malory and others that she was trying to foil Veronica Deane's plan in season 7 and failed, and would soon try to help them. Perhaps Lana and Sterling's daughter, AJ, would get to say her first words. And I hope that Sterling will finally awaken from his coma in the season finale, which would be the setup for the tenth and final season. (I've read on the internet that Archer ends after 10 seasons. At least it had a great run, not like some other animated shows on TV that went on for 10 seasons or more.) Regardless, I can't wait for this season. Ivan1997GTA
You want a space-themed season? Because that's how you tease a space-themed season! Anyway, it's been almost a month since Archer: Danger Island's finale aired, and I enjoyed the season as a whole, Crackers was pretty hilarious. But I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in the finale. I was expecting Sterling to finally wake up from his coma after all the sh*t that his dream persona and others have been through, but (imitating Lana Kane) NOOOOOPE. Instead, we got a teaser for a space-themed season taking place inside Sterling's coma fantasy. I'm obviously excited for the idea, but please, for the love of Woodhouse, let Sterling Archer wake up from his goddamn coma! Considering that season 10 may possibly be the final season, is Archer gonna be in a coma forever, with that plotline being unresolved, like how Donald Love disappeared in GTA III and none of the games elaborated on what happened to him afterwards? It's like Adam Reed is starting to run low on ideas, and doesn't want Archer to wake up. Maybe he intended the show to end with Archer staying in a coma forever, potentially dying, who knows. Despite this little rant, I did enjoy season 9 as I've mentioned earlier. Maybe the 10th season will finally bring Dan Mintz in as a guest star. H. Jon Benjamin voiced both Archer and Bob Belcher in Bob's Burgers, and John Roberts, Kristen Schaal and Eugene Mirman all guest starred on Archer at one point, so why not bring in one more voice actor from Bob's Burgers for full closure? I think it would be pretty cool if Dan Mintz gets to voice a few characters in season 10 of Archer. Edited July 11, 2018 by Ivan1997GTA
Ivan1997GTA
While Archer: 1999 (the space-themed 10th season) still has two more episodes before it ends, I've got some information about an 11th season. Yes, turns out there's gonna be one more season of Archer, according to this interview. "This season will return to its spy agency roots after Sterling Archer wakes up from his three-year coma. Archer will be back at the New York agency, but the personalities and situation of the office will be different. Due to being bed-ridden for three years, Archer is physically and mentally not what he used to be, which in turn affects the rest of the group and makes everyone worse at their jobs. His muscles have atrophied to the point where he has trouble walking and will need the assistance of a cane. The rest of the group starts to see him as an afterthought, and he has trouble understanding how everything moved on without him. The season will focus on Archer's struggle to cope with these lost feelings and how his return forces change on everyone around him, including himself." Well, it's about time. Sure, we're gonna have to wait at least another year before that season's gonna start airing and Archer wakes up from his coma, but I hope it will be worth the wait. Fingers crossed for the final season of Archer having a good finale... And I have a few questions regarding the 11th season. Did Woodhouse die of natural causes or was he assassinated? Will we finally hear Lana and Archer's baby A.J. talk? And, the biggest question of all: will we find out who is Sterling Archer's father after all this time? Only time will tell. Ivan1997GTA
I know I'm telling some late news that came from about a month ago, but Ron Leibman, the voice of Ron Cadillac and the husband of Jessica Walter (Malory's voice), passed away last month on December 6. I wonder what they're gonna do with his character, Ron Cadillac? Will they recast him with a different voice actor, or are they gonna kill him off like how it happened with Woodhouse after his first voice actor, George Coe, passed away? I think the second option is probably more likely to happen.
