No WC and changes to the current weapon system.

I am making this topic in direct protest to the GTA NeXt Weapons System. This Little William and his supporters are advocating to turn GTA into a MW wannabe, in direct contradiction to the GTA tradition, which GTA is about crime, where guns play only one aspect to the game. And in real life, criminals do not customised their weapons hence it is also reflected in GTA. So what's this bullsh*t about having WC in GTA? The system should remain the same and any new weapons must fit the GTA criteria. I found the new weapons in TBOGT is beyond ridiculous and should not return in GTA NeXt.

Weapon customization is okay to a certain point. I wouldn't mind the ability to add silencers and extended mags, but things like red dot sight, grips, and others are unnecessary.

Pre-attached silenced weapons would serve a better purpose, and I don't see the point of extended mags. Criminals do not customize their weapons in real life, so where do they get extended mags?

They use legitimate friends and associates to buy them from gun shows. Its called a straw purchase. Its how a lot of the guns end up on the street of the US and all over the world(Mexico in particular). Also who says crims don’t customize their weapons? You ever heard of the north Hollywood shootout? Both gunmen had full auto AK47 with 100 round drum magazines, firing steal core armour piercing rounds. Silencer also have been used in a lot of gangland murders. Besides Saying that there shouldn’t be weapon customize because it doesn’t happen in real life is a pretty weak argument. Criminals don’t fly helicopters or moonlight as police officers, or shouldn't we be able to those either?

While the weapons in TBOGT were badass, I didn't like what they did to the game. I would much rather see several choices in each weapon slot with strengths/weaknesses. Say the micro SMG has a large capacity and high rate of fire while the SMG is much more accurate or the AK does much more damage but the M4 is faster and more accurate. As for silencers or extended mags, there could be a silenced weapon available and capacity for a weapon shouldn't be changed because it just f*cks up the balance of the weapon.

^^ this.

I'd rather have a larger selection of weapons rather than customizing them. When you add armor piercing rounds, extended magazines, silencers, and scopes, it completely distorts the purpose of that weapon. Plus, if there was customization then everyone would put every attachment on every gun, and soon all the guns would look tacky and tasteless. That's what WC people want, they just want to use a pimped out gun that is distinct from the rest and has an advantage. That's great and all but GTA just isn't the game to do it in...

honestly, in my case, i dont give a sh*t about the weapons or the crime. I like the story, and the game is about the media.

I do like the selection of weapons, and I liked that it changes from game to game in the past and that they spiced it up in BoGT.

The only change I would make is instead of POV L or POV R for switching the weapons, it would be cool if holding left on the POV pad gives a radial menu (no pausing the game) for a fast selection with the right sticl.

I don't care though, make them anything the fans want, in my sector of the fanbase, an auto is an auto and a semi is a semi and I don't care much. I like the story and the things they do outside of gunplay is my forte.

One thing R* could have done was to not make every weapon automatic in GTA IV. What do I mean? I mean that you would be able to hold down the fire button and the gun will keep shooting even it was meant to be semi-automatic or single shot. Most other games have you press the fire button again to fire off another round from a semi-automatic weapon.

EDIT: What you're talking about mortalhuman is a one-touch weapon selection which is what most games use today. R* has always used the same old weapon cycling in GTA games which has almost become pre-historic. However, since I play so much GTA I can usually select a weapon faster by scrolling through them than using the one-touch system. The problem is that the controllers probably lack the buttons to do this while keeping the weapon scrolling there. Maybe holding down on the D-pad would trigger this (tapping would be the HUD/mini-map zoom out)?

The North Hollywood shoot-out is only a one-off case. For an average criminal on the streets, they do not customize their weapons. They are happy that they can even get guns, and would not put too much thought on customization. So your argument does not apply to every criminal.

that’s true but when have we ever played as just an average criminal in GTA? Never. We may start off that way but by the end off the game we always end up on top, at least in sense that were still alive and not in jail. I see no problem from a realism point of view in adding WC and I’m sure if it is put in the next GTA, it will be optional, so you won’t be forced to use it if you don’t want. So what’s the problem?

For me, WC is unnecessary and too complicated. So why have such a feature as an option. GTA can do fine without WC. Why all the changes when the system works perfectly?

If you want WC so badly, go and post on Little William's thread and GTFO of my thread.

I don’t see how it would be to complicated. Most people know what silencers, extended magazines, armour piercing rounds and grenade launchers do. You wouldn’t need anything more than that. Look at car customization in SA, it’s pretty much the same sort of thing and nobody complains about that. What about MW2? Its one of the most popular multiplayer games of all time and WC plays an important part in the online mode. If the WC is to hard for people to understand why has it been such a success.

The game needs WC, not because I want to pimp my guns out because they look bad ass, in fact I agree with akavari112 about guns loaded up with attachments looking tacky. The reason why I would like it, is because there was a real lack of things to spend our money on in GTAIV. Once you got to Algonquin and had done a few missions, you had enough money to buy all the clothes and max out your ammo. I found this so unrewarding and it seemed so pointless to continue doing the missions to get money that was useless. that’s why WC along with car/character customisation and empire building is a must to keep the game alive long after we complete the story.

WC might suit the FPS games like MW2, but it would look out of place in GTA. Every weapon in GTA serves a purpose, its own niche. WC would defeat the purpose of some weapons. For example, if you have your M4 customize with a 100 round drum mag, GL attachment, ACOG scope, you would less likely to use the sniper rifle, machine gun, grenades or even a RPG. This is because this one weapon you had customize to do all the things that those four weapons would do. You are making other weapons obsolete, destroying their niche. That's why I don't want WC in GTA, even as an option.

As for options to spend your money, empire building should return for that purpose. But I want full scale car modification to the likes of Midnight Club or Gran Turismo. I know some friends of mine spend up to tens of thousands of dollars on car modding in real life. That is an excellent option to spend your money in GTA. Imagine you can have a pimped-up ride to take to a street race in GTA NeXt. They can use that to parody those "The Fast and The Furious" movies where the cars you raced against are all pimped-up muthaf*ckas. You don't race cars like that in IV. At least this feature make more sense in GTA than WC!

I can use the same blunt argument that you used for not having WC and apply it to car customization. suicidal.gif

Car customization (CC) might suit racing games like NFS (Need for Speed), but it would look out of place in GTA. Every vehicle in GTA serves a purpose, its own niche. CC would defeat the purpose of some vehicles. For example, if you have your Blista Compact cutomized with full-power nitrous, super-high-quality tires for maximum handling, and a ton of body modifications, then you would be less likely to use the Turismo for speed, the Comet for handling, or the Sultan RS for looks, not to mention all of the other "slow and not fun" cars in the game. This is because this one car you had customized to do all the things that those three cars are special for. You are making other vehicles obsolete - destroying their niche. That's why I don't want CC in GTA, even as an option. suicidal.gifsuicidal.gif

Weapon silencers are the ONLY legitimate thing to add the great weapon system of GTA. Pistols and rifles are loud as hell so silencers are a strategic choice but thats it no other customization options.

Lol that was good... made me laugh

If GTA ever put in WC I'd just ridicule the game for conforming to modern shooter games. It would just feel like they were trying too hard to appeal to us gamers. I mean I can see WC in the far future when it will be pretty much expected of all games, but not now. When GTA is ready for WC, I'll be ready.

Man, you do know the game called "Grand Theft Auto", right. It is about cars. So full car modification make more sense than WC. And criminals do modify cars to shake off the cops' attention. How is it out of place in GTA? What, criminals don't do illegal street races in real life? Get in touch with reality!

Also I would not pimp up the "weak" cars, I can also fine-tune the fast cars. For example, I found the Turismo tend to over-steer a bit, so I can change that. Plus some cars in IV has very loose suspension, which the cars tend to bounce a lot. So, with full CC, I can stiffen their suspension to reduce the bounce. There are numerous options.

As for conforming, and gaining the interests of teh mainstream: as long as they continue with realism and quality alongside that - I say BRING IT ON, i WANT my silenced dual welded Uzis and pimped out Import rice burners with green neon and spinners cool.gif

Just don't include "camo" paint jobs for M4s and gold plated anything - it's just tacky.

I just want to keep GTA simple... adding all these attatchments would seemingly f*** up the game in my opinion... online, I usually don't feel like customising my gun, so I would probably get my ass kicked... which is the reason I don't play COD. It would suck... how about more weapons with different purposes... its just simpler...

instead of putting the option for silencers on every god damn weapon put in a silenced pistol and a silenced smg

Then, instead of putting in all these exploding rounds and sh*t, put in some powerful weapons like the minigun and that one machine gun from TBOGT

And possibly some shotguns with explosive rounds... but not the same shotgun with two types of rounds, it pisses the hell out of me when I'm out and about run into the shotgun... get it with normal rounds... then I run into another shotgun to get some more ammo... and I can't because its god damn explosive so unless I drop the other rounds I've collected I can't have it! mad.gif

Come on people, keep GTA a bit simpler and don't make it so f***ing gay... I don't want a MW2 in the middle of a f*cking city! Its just not GTA... cryani.gif

nah man, the mainstream finds GTA IV dreadfully boring, and now prefers Saint's Row 2.

Me? I like satisfying kills, quality graphics, and good physics. And a general aroma of effort was put into this, over cartoony & cheap crap.

lol, no! That game sucks ass and only teenagers and "homies" play it! (I can prove it, but at great cost to the examples I would use to do so, plus I know you already know this tounge2.gif)

The GTA audience is not swayed by such bad gamedev as found in Sr2. The LCS PSP noobs are, but they are really low on the pole.

however, SR2 aside, you may very well be right if we replace the sr2 with "Console FPS" terms... scary confused.gif
