james227uk
Not bad, seeing that I pay for 20 Megabyte broadband EDIT: MarcoGT got Virgin Media as his ISP? I'm with Virgin Media but it always lists me as Telewest Broadband (What they were before Virgin took over) Edited January 16, 2010 by james227uk

Pico
Referring to the 70mbps DL speed, yeah that's a damn high speed. But let me guess... a download limit?? If not, oooh man. I'd need another terabyte or two within a week. Most of you with these high DL rates most likely have download limits... except you Tornado Rex. They just don't allow you to download anything useful with all that bandwidth! (eg, torrents) Edited January 16, 2010 by Pico
Bernard Jazz
From the north-west like the topic starter. Tiscali isn't great though, paying for "up to" 8Mb
MarcoGT
EDIT: MarcoGT got Virgin Media as his ISP? I'm with Virgin Media but it always lists me as Telewest Broadband (What they were before Virgin took over)[/color][/b] I only recently got virgin media so maybe that's why, our internet used to be terrible before like it took 3 hours to download 1 gig but now can do it in about 15 to 30 minutes but it's always different but still I'm very happy with it because it always seems quick enough anyway. Andrew
Oi guys, this isn't the post how fast your internet is. This is for -chris to get help on his internet connection. Next person to post a speedtest that isn't related to -chris will get a weeks holiday. -chris, how far do you live from your telephone exchange, and how decent is your telephone wiring and wheres the router plugged into. It all helps, might be worth while checking with Sky to see if you have any problems on the line, and they could do a line reset for you. Also you might of gone over some download limit for a fair usage policy, it's aloada crap but alot of ISPs are doing that. Usually its something like download x in x days, and they'll throttle you during peak times. 6am to 6PM for some of them.

james227uk
Oi guys, this isn't the post how fast your internet is. This is for -chris to get help on his internet connection. Next person to post a speedtest that isn't related to -chris will get a weeks holiday. So if its not too much bother for the people living in the UK (North west would be ideal) could you possibly test your internet speed and post results here with a short opinion of your ISP as we plan to switch our internet to a different company. He said people in the UK. I live in the UK so I posted mine Of course I'm not arguing, I'm just simply saying I did what the OP said EDIT: Maybe we could have a topic devoted to posting speed tests @OP Did your IP say upto 20mb? Generally there is a box that feeds your internet connection. Your distance from this will affect your speed. It also could be crap wiring in your area (Virgin Media uses wires (fibre-optic) for my internet and they have a weird layout, so my speed isn't all it should be) Maybe discuss it with your IP like you were going to, because ATM your getting ripped off -- I'm sorry if this going offtopic, I'm just explaining that how your IP feeds your internet can affect your speed -- Edited January 17, 2010 by james227uk
Slamman
^ There WAS a topic posting speed tests, that what I originally posted about (that I mentioned it was in this section, to clarify, but had fallen some pages back)
