The-King
Welcome to Gaming Chat, GTAForum's section dedicated to gaming in general. This forum is designed for the purpose of discussing individual games, game systems, gameplay strategy and the like. As such, posts within this forum should follow a certain set of guidelines, derived from past comings and goings within this forum as well as common sense and the oficially stated "GTAForums Rules & Policy." The rules are not to be broken regardless of the cicumstances as they are the backbone of GTAforums and are designed to not only keep the server up and running but to keep the forums a clean, and freindly place to post and discuss your favorite games. Now onto this forum's guidelines, the forum specific rules which warrant enforcement, that are there in regards to keeping this forum proper and within the stated rules. The Rules • Try to keep the fanboyism to a minimum, no making 360 vs. PS3 vs. Wii vs. PC topics. They lead to nothing but flaming, arguing and spam and I'm sure we can all agree the forum is a much better place without that. • Don't post scans from gaming magazines as there are some fineline copyright infringement issues there, this falls under the category of ripping. Linking to articles which contain scans is ok, but posting the actual scans is a big no no. • Trolling is frowned upon, don't go into a topic for a specific game and post about how much you hate it, it's not only irritating, but it's off-topic and it's spam. It's even worse when you post the same thing over and over again, just don't. • Don't go off-topic, it derails the topic and it's irritating (I'm looking at you Slammy). It isn't a good idea to use the Call of Duty topic to discuss Assassin's Creed as it were. • Keep spoilers to a minimum, and if they must be posted be sure to use spoiler tags. Spoiler goes here • Flaming is against the rules and will result in a warning if it occurs; that's of course judging on the ferocity of said flame. • Keep discussion of a specific game to that game's topic, don't create a new topic asking how to earn an achievement in Modern Warfare 2 when there is already a massive topic dedicated to the game. • Don't discuss pirating games, we don't care how you got it, and most importantly don't post any torrent or rapidshare links to pirated games. • No advertising, don't post a link to your sh*tty invisionfree forum, we don't care. In any cases of advertising the post will be edited to remove any links, the topic will be locked, and the poster will be warned. There are a few exceptions to this rule however. -If you made a game/mod and feel it's topic worthy then feel free to post, but be warned, the quality of the post is directly proportional to the likelyness of the topic remaining open.-If you made a gaming utility that you feel deserves a topic it also falls under this same category of acceptable advertising. • Don't post anything of a pornographic nature, it goes against the Forum Rules and Policy and is considered highly inappropriate. Final Thoughts Remember, you are a guest on a free service. Our moderators and admins reserve the right to remove you from GTAForums at any time for any reason. You have no rights and may make no demands. Breaking these simple rules might naturally result in locked or deleted topics and/or a message from a moderator asking you to cool it. Repeated violation of the rules and ignoring requests to stop may end with temporary suspensions of posting rights, or banning if need be. The whole point of the rules and the moderators isn't to provide strictness for its own sake, as the forum staff is just as interested as having fun here as anyone else. But with thousands of members - hundreds of which may be online at any given time - some degree of civility is needed to keep it enjoyable for all. For the most part, just use some common sense while posting, and all is fine. Like any other forum on the intraweb, there are of course unspoken 'rules' of etiquette regarding spamming (off topic, short, or otherwise pointless posts), flaming, and whatnot. While such things are not generally enforced on a regular basis, administrative/moderatory action may be taken if such posts become problematic or habitual, thereby causing complaints from other members. It might also be worth mentioning here that doing anything which might be illegal in the real world is also frowned upon here. This could include anything from selling your services as a contract killer or selling black-market babies, to posting other people's private information against their will. Things of this nature are really too numerous to list, and again, fall into the realm of common sense. If you're not familiar with how forum communities in general work, or are just unsure of the specifics of this one, please, by all means, lurk for a while and observe how things go. But basically, if you follow ye olde 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' concept, things should be just fine. Or, another way you could look at that one is that if something you're about to post would annoy you, don't post it. Remember the rules and keep the quoted advice in mind when posting and I'm sure you'll be fine. Thank you, and goodnight. The-King
Not to be a smartass, but I didn't know you were a moderator. I've already cleared this with saintdave, he's going to pin it as soon as he gets online. I figured gaming chat needed a rules topic as that was something it was severely lacking, talked about it with Dave and this was the subsequent result. saintdave
Nice work mate. This will hopefully help keep the area tidy now that some of the newer members know what is what specific to this section. Loving the NES control/banner, very retro. Rebel
Excuse me for my lack of keeping up with this place, but we now have a led by for gaming chat? The rules are okay, although the place has managed quite well without any for a long time so I doubt a lot of people will bother to take much notice of them. Nice banner though. TommyMufc-Champs
There has been a few topics that have been created for no reason.
foohy
Do topics about the video game industry in general go here? For example, If I were to post a topic about how a game studio went belly-up or rating board changing their ratings (fingers crossed, Australia!) or something similar, would it go here or General Chat (Off Topic)? The-King
That's a touchy subject for sure. They would definitely be suitable for both forums, (especially the ratings board one) but you might get better results by posting them in here since it won't drop as fast as it would in General Chat. A studio going belly up would definitely be posted here though, unless you were planning on discussing the hard business side of it and ignore all aspects in regards to video games. |PropagandaIncorporated:|: Steam:|: DeviantArt:|: Last.FM|

Little William
Note to the mods: I would suggest these guidelines should be pinned on every forum here on GTAF. I have seen a lot of people here does not abide the rules when posting a topic, especially the GTA V forum. Just a precaution for new members.
