For some reason it looks a little too...80s metal for the show info. I really dig the artist type though, but I didn't make that. Here's the first experiment with color. All water color, then cleaned up a little in photoshop. Considering doing some Art Nouveau-type line-border stuff in the outside blue border. I like how the tree's leaves are painted, as well as the blue sky behind. The part in the sign where it says 'Collective' looks a bit weird, but overall it's amazing. Great job. geomy Posted August 12, 2011 Share Posted August 12, 2011 The trunk scribbles looked good in b&w, but with the color, it seems a bit much. Also agree with "collective," it really sticks out. The best critiques are when people actually have things to say about the work, and not just "it looks good". I'm reworking the type, including completely redoing the outside type with the show info, and am liking it better already. I can see what you mean about the tree. OH NO Posted August 29, 2011 Share Posted August 29, 2011 OH NO, I've never tried spray paint or airbrush. I feel like my style is too sketchy to really have any good control for a spray can. Youd be surprised man, your talent is obvious. Theres a young kid from my way, great artist, decided to start graffing after seeing of my stuff about (in fact he getting a lot of recognition, was in a graffiti magazine interview and named me as his inspiration, nice of him.) but yeah he took to it straight away, id have to post some of his stuff to show you just how good. Only 17 years old as well. Hes a mainly legal painter which is not proper graffiti to me, but not gonna knock him for it. I reckon youd pick the medium up straight away man, if you have that much talent with a pen etc a spray can would be almost impossible for you to not be brilliant at..great thing about a painting is that due to the paint you can easily correct any error. Not saying you should bother tho man as youve obviously got your own lane, but the thought of say..walking under a motorway bridge and all of a sudden youve got one of your pieces of work just there..out of nowhere (such as that snowy lanscape with the character earlier)...would blow peoples minds. but yeah f*ck it man, just explaining where i was going with that prior comment. It looks great, I dig the shading. The blue at the top is sort of uneven, it's more saturated to the right of center, and a bit more washed out on the left, but you may have already noticed that. I'm actually getting into setting up a screen printing operation, so I won't have to go through anybody else to get shirts, posters, prints of my sh*t made. Here's a thing from a few weeks ago. A little explanation: my friend and I came up with an idea that both solved the dilema of her wanting to drink and enjoy the music festival, and still write reviews for the bands. I accompanied her like a photographer, except doing onsite sketches, then going back and refining them later. If you're interested, read the sh*t out of the review. Kinda feel like your cool border is going to waste if that's the case. Have you thought about making the border white, and switching the rest to black/negative space?
