REALLY NEED SOME HELP!

Recommended Posts

Okay so I recently recived GTA IV as a christmas gift. I've really been looking forward to play this game for about a year now. But I havent really taken the time to start playing it so now , this christmas I decided to give it ago. I enjoyed the previous games.

Anyhow I started with installing it, and let me just cut it short, cuz I could go on for fifty pages about how much the installation sucked ass, but cba. And now it doesnt work!

I have reinstalled 5(!) times now. I have downloaded patches, hotfixes , drivers.

I have done pretty much anything a man can do. Now I REALLY want for this to work but it isnt working so I need some help.

What happens when I launch the game?

A black cmd box appears , followed by the rockstar games social club (-.-) I do have a account there wich I can log on then I chose to " play ".

Press play and nothing happens. The the DvD reader starts making sounds but nothing happens.

I restart the whole thing: The screen goes black for a few seconds, followed by " GTA has stopped working ".

This is REALLY frustrating.

I have tried different things but I would appreciate any advice you may have. Been trying this for little over 10 hours, and If I havent got it working by tomorrow , I'll return the product and make damn sure to never ever purchase anything from Rockstar games ever again.

They really failed making this game. thats not any news tho.

PLEASE HELP sad.gif

I had this problem, you dont need an account for Rockstar socail, however when you click play then a messege comes up saying that rockstar social is still running, do you close it? If so dont cause that will cause the game to terrminate.

I believe this crash is caused by SecuROM™ (that sneaky little thing that got installed alongside GTA IV to make sure everythings all legal)

Also, do you happen to be using a 64bit version of Windows 7 and what are your system specs?

I'll see if i can't dig up a fix for you =)

Heres what you can try to do.

(i) Update IV to the latest version avaliable here

(ii) From the SecuROM™ website

Q: I get the error message 'SecuLauncher: failed to start application. [2000]'

A: Please note that this is a common issue when the Visual Studio C++ redistributable and/or Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 was not installed properly.

1.To solve the issue, please open your Windows Explorer/My Computer and switch to the following directory on the

'Grand Theft Auto IV' Disc #1: e.g. E:\GTAIV\Redistributable\.

If you own the Steam download version, please open your installation path of 'Grand Theft Auto IV':

e.g. C:/Progra...steamapps/common/grand theft auto iv/installers.

In that folder you will find a file called 'vcredist_x86.exe'. Please execute this application and follow the installation wizard.

2.Please also download and install the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

After you have successfully installed the Visual Studio C++ redistributable and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 please perform the recommended reboot. 'Grand Theft Auto IV' should start fine now.

Get Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 here.

But in the meantime/in case i'm wrong, try here for support. This user also appears to be having a similar problem.

If you post too much text, it will not appear. There is a post size limit.

That GPU is not the best out there to run GTAIV, but it should at least start.

Do you have many processes running in the background? Which GPU driver version are you using? There are some older drivers that work best with GTAIV. Try some 180.xx version. Look in the FAQ for a proper driver update guide if unsure how to do it correctly.
