Making a grenade explosion gun

Hi

 

I've recently Installed GTA IV and I have modded GTA San Andreas a lot before so this is not so hard to understand.. except weaponmodding...

 

Anyway I trying to make a gun to shoot grenade explosions only (in this case i modding the desert eagle). Other words I don't want to make any grenade projectile, I want a "instant_hit" explosion, like an exploding bullet so to say.. I got this idea from a youtube video, however that was 360 modding but I think the filesystem is pretty much the same..

 

I will not say too much about that. And yes I HAVE searched on different gta forums,youtube, google etc. So im sorry if I didn't find anything that already exists.

 

I using a weapon editor to make the modding easier but I still can't figure it out how I shoot instant grenade explosion, can anybody help me o give me a tip?

I wanted to do this as well.. I tried changing some of the tags but still couldnt get "exploding bullets".... the only other idea i can think of but havent tried is that you can increase the speed of projectiles.. so maybe modding a grenade launching handgun, with an incredibly high projectile speed? That should be very similar to an exploding bullets type effect...

Yeah maybe it would work but in the video I saw they used a other tactic I think cos they could shoot at a very long range o.o almost like a sniper.

that looks like they used a rocket in a pistol...lol....or like basicly some how made a bullet have the effect of a car explson...

It seems to go to fast for being a rocket, and I think they used the grenade explosion type.

If you look closely you'll notice there's a delay between them shooting the pistol and the explosions happening. They just used fast projectiles.

Lets put our head together guys.

 

 

Lets create this mod. Ideas welcome.

Here is my input/ideas.

 

 

Maybe we can start with a rocket pistol weapon mod.

 

Now, We need the following. Some can be done with tags but I dont know many.

 

####### EXPLODING BULLETS MOD #########

 

START WITH ROCKET PISTOL MOD or ROCKET UZI MOD

 

Challenges.

 

- remote smoke from rocket?

- Increased projectile speed?

- increased projectile range?

 

(notes. I have a few ideas. I will come back after some testing.)

Hi...

i have been try to do same thing as ia015 wants to do from yesterday. i have just started modding stuff from yestarday tounge.gif .

i am doing it for gta 4. i suggest you to use instant hit instaed of projectile and projectile type granade instead of impact. impact is used for motoloves. we can reduce fusetime. i dont know whatever i am saying will work or not!! i'll try certain thing today evening and post tomarrow.

One of the special things I want with this mod is just the type of the explosion in this case, a grenade explosion, with a instant hit effect.

 

I understand how you guys think but if you reduce the fuse time it will count form that you shooting it?

 

So lets say we will make it explode after a fuse that has a time within some milliseconds but the problem might appear when you want to shoot long range? If it counts instantly after you shoot it and it has only a few milliseconds left to blow, you can't shoot that far. It was just a thought that came up my mind. Would be better with a impact explode effect.

Ok. Here is what I have came up with after hours of testing last night.

 

 

I can shoot grenades from the shotgun with any fusetime. I have increased the velocity so much that it will shoot almost perfectly straight at any distance like a bullet. I am using the grenade impact because its a much nicer explosion. What I need now is to get rid of fusetime and make it explode on impact. That way no matter now long or short the distance, whatever is hit, is exploded... any ideas?

ok.

 

Now. I have the rocket shooting grenades that explode on impact in most cases.. I have the velocity turned up so much that it shoots great distance with almost instant impact and explosion. Like a bullet.

 

The problem:

The bullets when shot at anything close deflect off it before the explosion. The explosion is a split second after the grenade bounces off and in most cases too far away from the object to damage it. I need instant explosion. INSTANT. Any ideas?

 

I have tried turning down the velocity already. Any ideas concerning

 

<explodeimpactthreshold="?"> or using a negative number for any settings?

I was able to mod the M4 to have very explosive rounds.

I changed the m4 to shoot projectile grenades.

Turned up the velocity so that the speed and impact match closer to that of a bullet.

THEN, I changed the explosion type to that of a car explosion. So that it is slightly more explosive than a grenade yet has a lot of fire after the explosion.

 

I turned the velocity up so much that if you shoot slightly at the ground, the projectile will travel along the ground until it impacts something, anything, but this happens instantly, no travel time lol. so using it this way is actually kind of fun. The cool part is that if you shoot straight up in the air, or angled up in the air, it will still work as a grenade launcher except with very great distances.

 

I am overall satisfied with my work on this. If anyone wants to try it out, let me know and I will post the file.

It sounds like you have made a huge step forward about this! Great to hear! smile.gif I haven't been at my gaming pc on a few days now so I can't really come up with good ideas without the tools but keep up the good work! tounge.gif I really looking forward to this biggrin.gif

I just watched the video again. The weapon mod I made is almost identical to this.

 

They do use the car explosion.

 

+++ I used the m4 instead of the handgun for much faster rounds and impacts. But from what I saw, i can do all the same things with mine...

EDIT: I tried this now and when I shoot it doesn't shoot at that way I aming at, it shoots on very random places sometimes. I tried to change the amaing settings a bit but still doesn't working... otherwise it seems to be a very nice result you got with the instant hit effect of the projectiles. Pleas look it up.

I had made such rockets mod.

However, when you slap somebody or the cop,

the cops will chase your ass and in nowhere there appears alot of rockets to my way.

The rockets also exploded at the cops.

When Im seraching to that modded, usually the cop gun,

I do a headshot so the cop is immeditaly death.

But the obviousley cop shooted himself so the cop

is gone and the gun is nowhere disapeard, like in the other dimension lol

 

But I never tought the heli can shoot rockets.

So it must be somewhere in the weapon.xml

I'll do a research later when I have time.

The exploding bullets on the video is easy to di I think.

I'll give it a try.

That is the only problem I have had, the shots bounce off of certain objects before exploding but not most... im still working on it lol... its not an aiming problem though. It is that there is such a great velocity that sometimes the ammunition bounces before the explosion...

I failed at making bullets explode immediately.

This time it shoot invisible bullets (..!!??) next time

it shoot invisible rockets.

And too sad enough no one can be hurt or exploded.

Stone/rock pieces flies around like there was a invisible

explosion, cars turn into black pieces like there the cars

paint were on fire.

Emberrassing could not be more badder.

 

I spended 2 hours so its more emberrassing confused.gif

If you really want this then you can download quechus's explosive AA12 shotgun. You can't achieve a bullet that explodes without editing the explosion.dat

 

 

That tobogt AA-12 shoots invisible rounds that explode on impact. Instead of bullet damage you get tiny explosive damage. If u wanted to get this then you'd have to tweak the explosion.dat
