GTA IV won't launch, crashes on startup

I just bought GTA IV from Dick Smith here in New Zealand and I have installed the game but I can't play it. Everytime I try and load GTA IV I get this stupid message

 

 

 

 

My system specs:

 

Athlon XP 2800 (2.07GHz)

1.00GB of RAM

128 MB DDR Video Card (Asus A9550)

Service Pack 3 and all the crap that goes with it

 

Any help on this would be appreciated.

planetstacy, You need to seriously update your system. IF you wish to play GTAIV you need a dual core processor@ 2.4 Ghz 2 Gigs of ram, 256 meg Video card.

lol ima playing on windows 7 and i get a cmd window too?

Same problem. Windows 7 64-bit running a GTX285 and 6gb triple channel ram. Fresh format within the last 2 hours. (full drivers updated) and have checked the last 5 video card revision/patches.

If this window pops up, it usually means you haven't updated the game.
