When is the location likely to be revealed?

Recommended Posts

Is it realistic that it'll be a location that they've already done befor? Like if they'd redo SA for instance...

It is a possibility, but I'm honestly hoping for a fresh setting, a nice varied one like San Andreas with a lot of vastly different areas.

Okay, I'm hoping for SA but honestly anything is great as long as it isn't Europe!! smile.gif

The official GTA IV website launched on March 1, 2007, and consisted of a logo and a countdown to the first official trailer. The countdown began at 28 days, so if the logo doesn’t say anything about the locations, then I would guess. March 29 2010.

So I predict we get to play GTA next, March 29 2011.

Ok thanks smile.gif

But that would mean about 2 years in development. Wasn't GTAIV in dev. for 4 years?? Any reasons why this won't take as long?

Chances are theyve been working on the game at the same time as IV, like they usually do, its likely a bigger game and rather than starting work on it after IV, they would work on it alongside IV, meaning there will be more time to work on it with less time for us to have to wait.

Tow years from now, but the last GTA came out in 2008, and there were rumors, that Rockstar already worked on the new title before the release of GTA IV.

Yes, they just made two grate pieces of DLC, but the amount of work they put into it, is limited. The city was already done, so was most of the cars, pedestrians and even some of the main character and the story line, Graphic engine and physics was finished as well.

To put it more clearly, with GTA IV they basically have to start from scratch. Thats because they worked with a new engine and source code. With the core engine done, theres not that much to fiddle around with now. The core engine takes awhile to finish, if you include everything from controls to online play that would take about 1.5 years. Then what they would do is remove the test sprites and then Add al the graphics/storyline.

So with GTA NEXT the core engine coding time would reduce to about one or two months, then they can work on everything else

Nearly what you said, except it's coming out October 2010 or APRIL 2011.

All major GTA games have come out in October except for IV which came in April. But it's 6 months between those months. May sound weird but it makes some kind of sense in my head at least! tounge.gif

Because in those 4 years, they were also working on the game engine, physics, and graphics too. They built the game from scratch. But since we're already going to have the engines, Rockstar only needs to add a new map, dialogue, missions, cars, and other stuff. Most of the programming is already retained. For example, Vice City and San Andreas were just enhanced pre-existing engines from the one used in GTA3.
