What do your parents think about you playing GTA and other violent games?

mines think that GTA, Manhunt, etc... are wrong, disgusting, the cause of all problems of mankind, blah, blah, blah, but they can't do much about it, I'll always play it biggrin.gif

what about yours?

And I think his parents are the problem by blaming a freakin video game meant to be played by slightly mature persons at least, and for been hypocrites by leting you play a game they disaprove in the first place.

Meh, f*ck anybody who blames video games for violence. The original Scarface movie (with the Chicago mafia theme with Tommy guns) was made in 1932 and I'm pretty damn sure that was very sickening at the time. F*ck the older generation people that blame video games since they have been hypocrites for their entire lives.

I'm going to blow my Morse code all over your face.

I used to have to play gta3 and vc in secret with the volume turned way down. They were against me playing violent games for a while but by the time I was like 14 they just gave up.

When I was younger and still living with my parents, it didn't matter to them, in-fact, my pop f*ckin' loved GTA...especially the second one. My ma, she would just come in and say,

"Are you playing a game?"

To which I would respond,"Yes".

She would then say,"Is it a BAD ONE?"

I would respond with,"Sorta".

Then she would leave.

Mine don't really mind it. My dad even plays it at times. They don't really mind what games I play

My dad doesn't really give a sh*t but then my mum is strongly against it. That's going to be the problem of me getting GTA: EFLC this Christmas. Trying to persuade my father to secretly get it.

Well I'm an adult so they don't really give a sh*t what I play.

But I'm sure my mom wouldn't like GTA. She's catholic, and they don't like any kind of media that has violence, sex, or strong language. My dad would play GTA himself but he doesn't have a console to play it on, and he's got this thing where he thinks he doesn't know how to play video games, and he asks me every once in a while to teach him how to play "those WWII games". He says he wants to be a sniper. I always tell him, just play, you'll learn. The only games he's really played this decade are Wii sports and Tiger Woods. Wii sports is incredibly easy and Tiger woods is somewhat complicated. That's probably why he thinks every other game is hard to learn.

Anyway, what were we talking about...

Since I'm turning 24 in a couple of weeks my parents don't care what I play.

They never really did care even when I was younger either. Infact they're the ones that bought me GTA III when I was 15.

Not anymore. kind've past that "corruption" dealio. My dad was really the one who had a problem with it. I remember one time when I was like eleven I was playing Vice City and he came in my room and started watching, and I was worried sh*t would get too real, but the mission was Supply and Demand so I was just boating around and shootin things. He left after a few minutes.

bullet dodged.

i do recall I started wearing headphones for when I played Xbox because San Andreas had way too many "nigga"s in it.

They think its a 'driving simulator' game (the one time they were also in the living room watching me play was the time I didn't have any guns, or didn't hit any peds - just drove carefully for some reason).

They don't care.

Saying that gta will make you bad it is just like saying it will make you drive better sigh.gif

They used to just say "Gee that's violent" and "as long as you can tell the difference between that and real life"

However the neighbors across the street, their kids aren't even allowed to watch The Simpsons.

Vanilla Shake

When GTA III came out in '01, my father was like "holy sh*t that's awesome". I was 10.

Obviously they never really cared. I even taught them how to play Vice City when it came out.

That is a lot more advanced and in depth than Pac Man!

Obviously, for adults!

They seem like an antihero James Bond series.

No problems with me playing it. Sometimes they just see how I commit suicide in GTA IV in different ways and they laugh.

My parents were like, "Oh, that's too violent." but it is true they like hypocrites. They did buy me the game and once they saw me play, well there you go. But they soon gave up, I did had to convince them that I know it's a game and not real life, it felt quite stupid explaining them that.

But I tend not to play when my sister is there and play Viva Pinata instead, she's an older sister and a part of Gen Y and knows how violent stuff is. But she considers when in GTA:IV and I was running over peds was violent I was tempted to show her a Lancer Chainsaw kill from Gears or War and say, "Is this also too violent?"

I was tempted to show her a Lancer Chainsaw kill from Gears or War and say, "Is this also too violent?"

I remember playing Gears of War 2 and was like "Hey Mum, look at this!" and proceeded to chainsaw some guy and crumble to a bloody mess. Her face was something like this mercie_blink.gif

My parents have never been bothered about what I play, they've bought every GTA for me infact.
