Some nice German fellows over at GamersGlobal got Ubisoft to admit that there'll be a PC version of the recently-announced Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, though they couldn't guarantee that it'd be day and date with the secure-against-piracy console versions.

So it looks like they've ditched the cartoony artwork style of the last game already. It looked nice but it just didn't feel like a POP game without the time stopping/slow down/rewinding features.

I'm glad they are going back to the games original roots of the Sands of Time story. Hopefully it's much better than the last one.

Indeed. I enjoyed the last one and I loved what they have done with him, with the music background, using new art style and the same for the charactes very well done made. Was a realy good game, easy game, I played very relax rather the other series where they where different.

But still I want the old Prince with his story, plus that old intense-action-Dahaka-style and battle. I'm glad too about the new version. I remember that after the POP 2008 has been release, they said that the new version will be no longer like the one from POP 2008, so they haved keep their promises. icon14.gif

I hated the last one with a passion. Controls were too fiddly for my liking, wasn’t really bothered by the new cartoony art style just couldn’t really get on with it. There was no need to detract from the 3 before that anyway so it’s good to see them go back to this, looks more like it anyway.

The last PoP is fine to me, not bad for a remake. I don't care much about the graphics but certainly not my favourite graphics style for games. It looks confusing just like the one in Borderland. The gameplay is a serious flaw, there aren't much enemies to fight with, the game only focus on jumping and jumping, light orbs, jumping, sliding, jumping, falling and back to jumping tounge.gif .

The most disappointing aspect is the ending, well you guys know how the ending is. Nevertheless, the fighting camera is superb, with that lighting effect, how the camera behave, it looks like real time action movie, how many moves you can do. Like I said, it is SUPERB in PoP 2008.

I hope this PoP will make it like AC 2? Maybe add some new features like stealth and currency. Add more fighting styles, and of course please stop with the crappy ending already, unless they want to continue the game to other series, then I can live with that.

I really hope they try to get the gameplay as close the Sands of Time trilogy as possible. Prince of Persia (2008) plain sucked, it completely ditched what made the series so successful in the first place, changed the art style and added a sidekick no one wanted. I had tried it out on PC once and quickly found I hated it, but at Christmas I got it I didn't want it so badly I asked my dad for the receipt (call me a dick but I REALLY didn't want it).

I'd be happy as f*ck if they simply ported the SoT trilogy over to XBLA/PSN and gave it a facelift (new graphics, new features in older games etc)

tl;dr Hopefully it's a return to form.

I wouldn't. If PoP has taught us one thing, that was to leave the past in the pa...

Oh.

Ubisoft revealed some new details about their upcoming game – Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – set between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. The Prince goes to visit his brother’s kingdom after the events of The Sands of Time only to find it is being overrun by evil. The prince will have to use the sands in order to save his brother’s kingdom.

Ubisoft reveals new details about Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, a game set between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within, granting the Prince power over the forces of nature, which he will conveniently forget by the second game.

The problem with interjecting a video game between two previously released titles is we can pretty much assume the new title ends with a total memory wipe. Unless Ubisoft decides to release a new version of Warrior Within with references to Forgotten Sands, that'll probably be the case. We can't have the Prince simply deciding not to use the natural powers he'll be using in Forgotten Sands, can we?

After the events in The Sands of Time, the Prince goes to visit his brother's kingdom, only to find it besieged by the forces of evil. Using the powers of the Sands to save the kingdom from annihilation kicks off an adventure in which the Prince will learn what Spider-Man already knows; with great power comes great responsibility.

Expect epic moments, tons of acrobatics, and refined combat, all rendered lovingly in the Anvil game engine.

The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, Nintendo Wii, and DS, with the last three featuring a different gaming experience than the more powerful platforms. Expect more details on what that means as we inch closer to the game's May 2010 release.

Prince Of Persia: Forgotten Sands Is A Prequel And A Sequel

If it was a sequel then it would be taking place after The Two Thrones no?

So it's set between SoT and WW, so we could be seeing the return of the Dahaka? I bloody hated the Dahaka parts in WW, i actually felt dead tensed when running from it.

I actually felt dead tensed when running from it.

Same here too dontgetit.gif

Still was a hell of a character. Somehow of what you have said, I realy enjoyed those moments and somehow starting to laugh at a moment. Became an icon in my mind on those old days.

Thinking about it, at the start of The Two Thrones, story wise it worked out that the events of Sands of Time and Warrior Within didn't happen.

So the Prince now having powers over the forces of nature doesn't really really effect anything story wise.

Time travelling is very confusing.

That quote is exactly what I was talking about. Adding more crap to a perfect storyline that'll introduce, maybe not a plot hole, but a huge plot doubt. A lot of what ifs and buts will have to arise.

That was exactly what the Dahaka was supposed to. You knew some serious stuff was going down when the screen went black.

Actually, if you remember Prince's words, "time does not flow steady like a river", or something like that. The events were going to happen. However, this new title can add more motivation for the Prince to travel into the Island of Time. If it doesn't, it'll feel like a clunky add on, getting me back to the ramble on my first paragraph.

Edit - Or you could treat all games as past events, as they're narrated. In TT, the Empress tells us the tale of the brave prince. SoT, he tells us what happened.

Boy, did that shot spring me into PoP mood.

I've noticed nobody has posted in this topic since it came out, lol.

Anyway, just bought this game new for €20. Enjoying it so far. I've never played a Prince Of Persia game in about 14 years (the original) and that was on my mates PC. I seen my friend play the 360 era games and thought they looked cool.

I'm not up on the story of them all but the story so far in this game is good. I'm enjoying the adventure and it's not hard yet. Only hard thing about it was to put it down. icon14.gif

It doesn't get hard, it stays piss easy all the way through, considering how challenging the other three were on PS2 this is a walk in the park.

Way to short as well which seems to be a recurring theme coming from these new games.

Still wasn't a bad game and it was nice to get back into the 'Sands of Time' storyline. Although if the game takes place between TSOT and WW and he had these water, fire, wind and rock powers then we do they suddenly disappear in the Warrior Within game. Major plot hole.

Oh.

Haha, this happened. Schweet.

In other news, I still have to buy this. And the first next-gen Prince. Even though it's crap.
