It's no one else playing this awesome game yet?!?

Played through an hour and a half of it...with a f*cking migraine I was having. Enjoying it so far, though I wish there was more Predator scenes at the beginning. I basically spent the first half an hour gliding through the city and running across rooftops. The map is really stunning.

I'm only an hour and a half through it and gosh the villains that already turned up in that period of time! Dr.Strange, Penguin, Two-Face and Joker! When I saw Catwoman, a part of me was crying inside because I never got to play as her sad.gif

Bane's an ally, cool!

EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention, I cancelled my order of Dues Ex Human Revolution for this baby. Not sure whether it's the right decision though.

It was, you'll get a lot more replayability out of this.

I said it elsewhere but I think this will easily fit in as one of the top five games of the year.

You were right about the AR tests being such a bitch. I completed the first four and I thought the rest would be a breeze. f*ck no I was so wrong.

Loving the gang war between Joker's gang and Penguin's gang. Oh and I am the only person who just loves to hang around a helicopter's side and just admire the view of the city from it?

Gotta say, the fight against Ra's al Ghul is the single most inspired and genuinely fun boss fight I've had in years.

sh*t Meta, you must be playing at the same rate as me. I just finished that boss fight too! That arena was breathtaking! I love how the story is more personal to Batman than in the first game. Talia is pretty smokin', hope there's more of her.

To anyone who hasn't get this game, GET IT NOW! Screw other games of 2011, past or future, this is THE GODDAMN GAME OF THE YEAR! The amount of characters you get to see in this game is astonishing! There's one character you never expect to see appearing in the story will really make you go WOW! I won't even put that character's name here in spoiler tags because if you have no idea who it is, then it makes it more perfect.

Reached the point where I saved Vickie's ass and then did the cure side-mission right after that. I love how Batman and Mr.Freeze had a normal conversation of helping each other out right after they both just got into a smackdown. Also, that side-mission I was talking about, is such a bitch that I turned off my console after failing it. The dream sequences are amazing!

I'M SO FREAKING HAPPY EVERYTIME I PLAY THIS! I'VE DONE SO MUCH sh*t THROUGH THE STORY AND YET I'M STILL AT 57% FOR THE MAIN STORY AND JUST 28% ON MY OVERALL PROGRESSION! ARGH WHY AM I TYPING IN CAPS?

Man, all this talk about the game is getting me mighty impatient. Thanks for putting spoiler tags on spoilers and all of that. I'm gonna have to play Arkham Asylum one more time to pass the time before the PC release.

EDIT: Oh, and it would be nice if they included more costumes for the PC release as an apology for delaying the game. Doubt it, but I have hopes and dreams.

Oh forgot about you PC guys getting the game late. Sorry to hear about that but just look forward to having all of the costumes. Pre-order bonuses are such a pain in the ass for me.

The map of Arkham City has definitely more freedom than the Asylum. Every single landmark in the Batman universe is in the game.

while interrogating Riddler's informants. Don't watch it if you're that touchy.

I've already seen that in some videos, I don't mind such minor spoilers. I'll be sure to check it out asap when I finally get the game.

Damn, new page.

Oh, nice.

I found that location already, but I didn't know there was an achievement involved.

Gosh, wow. I'm utterly speechless for the ending...

Ah screw it have to say a lot about the ending. Brilliant ending! It's a sad ending depending on which character point of view. It's the runner-up on my list for Best Endings of all time. Nothing beats Portal 2's tounge.gif

Surprising last boss of the game. Really surprising! I never expected that character to turned up! Argh you know what? I'm not gonna go even further into details for the sake of our PC players. All I can say is that they pulled off an Inception. By that, I mean you'll be mindf*cked by the end.

My favorite moment of the game was the introduction of Ra's Ah Gul and Talia. Most spectacular boss fight ever, screw Gamespot for saying that the boss fights were pretty boring.

Stay during the credits to fully appreciate the game.

EDIT: This game needs a sequel... badly.

EDIT EDIT: sh*t, still have more to say but resisting. Although I've completed the main story, there's still a sh*t ton of stuff to do. I still need to finish up some other villains too. This game is gonna keep me occupied for a few months.

Game Informer just boldly coined this the, "Best Licensed Game Ever Made".

Which is not to say the best game ever made but to say the best game based off an existing intellectual property. I'm racking my brain trying to think of a game based on a movie, television series, book or comic that was even close to this level of quality and I'm pretty hard pressed, to be honest.

Even better than Superman for the Atari 2600? Wow...

Just kidding of course. Most licensed games suck and are just pushed out. I have to say that Arkham City did a great job of not f*cking anything up.

Yes, yes, yes! Not only regarded as the Best Licensed Game, but one of the best games ever!

To those who finished the game, was there a part of you that wanted to cry? They were really killing off a bunch of characters by the end. And every one of them went out the way they were meant to.

Not unlike a turd.

@Meta, the only one that comes to my mind is R*'s own The Warriors.

Still one of my favourite games ever, licensed or not.

Are you guys forgetting Goldeneye or is there some stipulation that makes that not count as a "licensed game?"

You're lucky I remembered something from 2005, let alone 1997.

Not saying Goldeneye wasn't great, just that my memory isn't. tounge.gif

I'd never forget it, great game.

I could probably name a few other exceptions to the rule as well BUT and it's a big BUTT this is head and shoulders above just about anything in this category.

I will whole heartedly agree with Mudroc that The Warriors would be a close 2nd for me. They stayed very true to the source material and still made a very playable, fun game.

Plus they actually expanded on the story, what with the prologue-type levels and also the flashback levels.

F*ckin' masterpiece that was.

Anyway, back to Batman...

Would you say the difficulty is about the same in AC as it was AA?

I loved AA, but there were some spots that I found face-punchingly difficult.

It is piss easy near the beginning of the game but as you progress on, more enemy types and deadlier situations start to pop up and that's when the going gets tough. AR Tests are the hardest part of the game. Second hardest part would have to be the bunch of snipers on each rooftop near the end. Took me half an hour to get through that.

I loved AA, but there were some spots that I found face-punchingly difficult.

I would also add that the combo system is easy to engage but really hard to master.

Even as far back as AA, I thought I was pretty f*cking ace at it till I started doing the separate challenges and realized I couldn't even get close to the +30 combos and timelines they were wanting you to achieve. There's a ton of great ways to mix it up but one little misstep messes up your entire combo. Thankfully, they're not mandatory.

The other bit is gunplay. Enemies are way more accurate and fast on the trigger. Even with max armor, If you don't throw down a smoke pellet and get out of the way quick or do some pretty quick disarms you'll be dead within seconds. Luckily, some gadgets come along later in the game that aid you against this.

Maybe the final bit is sort of learning how to "fly". You can float down and zipline between buildings but as the game progresses you're taught the finer points on how to air dive to gain speed and lift yourself upwards, it's a bit tricky at first but feels cool once you get it down.

That sounds pretty awesom.

Thanks for the info fellas, much appreciated.

I've got some OCD, but luckily not with games, so when there's a really ridiculous (but not mandatory) challenge, I'll try it, but I have no problem saying "Well, I ain't doing that one." biggrin.gif

Just finished the story, wow.

That was dark, even for Batman.

I'm almost certain there will be a third, what with all the hints in the game and the praisal the game has earned.

Just a crapload of riddler trophies etc. to go through now.

One word comes to mind; Masterpiece.

Crapload? Yeah, all 400 of them.

The game is not so subtle with hints of a third game alright. There's a huge tiny hint even at Joker's hideout. And some of the side-missions also indicates that there will still be trouble in Gotham.

The music in the credits gave me the chills.

Can't tell if sarcasm on that riddler trophy part. To be fair it's a crapload to me because I'm not that big on collecting stuff in games, GTA IV had 200 seagulls, that was a crapload to me then, now you've got 400 riddler trophies/riddles scattered throughout the city.

Did you do the side-mission with Azrael yet? If the end of that side mission wasn't a hint then I don't know what is. Plus there's Hush to be dealt with. And as you said yourself, that 'small thing' in Joker's hideout.

My guess is that the next game will involve Joker's kid, set sometime in the future. THAT would make for an interesting Batman game.

EDIT: Also might I add I was a bit dissapointed in Black Mask's appearance. I mean 1 minute of screen time? Hmph.

Also forgot to mention another hint, did the boat? The one with the hatch you can open? There's a little something in there that could be a hint of things to come...

Hah sarcasm? Nope, I was agreeing with you. It's 400, 400 trophies! They are not just the simple find and grab kind of collectible like in other games. Each trophy has it's own puzzle to solve so time consuming much! Oh well, Riddler's informants gonna keep me occupied then.

Nope, haven't finished both of that side-mission because I had no idea where to look. I did see them on Youtube though. Both directly relates to the future. Hush's scene was pretty f*cked up. And about that small thing, doesn't a baby Joker sound so corny to you? There is obviously gonna be a third one after this and I wonder who would fill in the main baddie role. With Joker and Strange dead and the League of Assassins presumably disbanded, who else is there? Arkham City has already managed to use quite a number of characters already.

Black Mask is gonna be a DLC for Robin. I actually have no idea where was his 1 minute of screen time. His bio just unlocked for me out of nowhere. And about that hatch, that goddamn hatch which I still haven't been able to open because of it's confusing password, should have something to be involved with my beloved character from the first game, Scarecrow. With Bane and Killer Croc in this game and it looks like the TITAN ain't with them, Scarecrow may have the TITAN we see at the end of Asylum. That and his mask can be found. His return is a necessity for the third game. Mad Hatter and Ra's Ah Gul kinda took his place.

This is a great game no doubt. A dark intriguing story, great combat-flow and almost an infinite number of stuff to do, this is definitely the game of the year.

I'm gonna go start a NG+ soon, f*ck me no counter icons!

EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to mention, there are hidden messages from some unknown person when using the Crypographic Sequencer. Someone wants revenge.
