Literally I pawned mine, seems like I'd need $5000 to get it back considering how poor I am and keep getting (tow is costing me $317 bucks I don't have!!) Slamman Posted December 12, 2009 Share Posted December 12, 2009 While I approve the slimming down, I dislike the exterior over the old one, the new slim PSP is a much better looker, in terms of the original. 24 carets is 24 carets, and it's fully plated, but I would be surprised if they make a good income from it. It is silly, But you can't escape that jewelry is big business in this economy, people are melting down their old trinkets, and gold plating Guitar Hero guitars, what have you?!?! Probably why they don't give any information on the electroplating process or how thick the plate is: People would realize they're spending $5,000 on something that is actually only worth about $1,350. $1,000 - For the ounce of gold. $300 - The PS3 $50 - Electroplating I don't understand how anyone could buy one of these even if they did think gold was super cool. I'm no Xbox fanboy, I got one after my PS3 and I play the hell out of it...before it got pawned When I bought mine it was all white, my earlier RRoD units had the chrome door, so I moved the chrome door to the one that came as all white, so gold plating is not such a bad idea. Gold plated terminals are beneficial for electrical signal transference.
