H13N.H3N
how i can convert gmod models (source models) to 3d max (dont worry, i can rigg them) GMod (perhaps Garry's MOD) belongs to other games, also 3D Studio Max can handle external plugins for this, non GTA Modding discution can alternatively go into the General Chat (Offtopic) but honestly don't expect anyone to help you, as you are not only not asking anything from GTA, you are asking for ripping content from another source (i.e. open a file with a custom format from another game for 'whichever reason' via illegal decoding. rip .). autodesknoob
well here is my fisrt try! but i have this bug...anyone who knows how to fix it? EDIT: this problem happens when im trying to fix the bugs after rigging, solutions? Edited December 12, 2009 by autodesknoob
JohnPro
Lets start with the basic things. Are the faces flipped? Is the txd file in correct format, and IMG rebuilt? This can also be a graphics card problem. Try asking a friend to test it and see if the same missing textures appear on his machine. Good Luck! JohnPro
Yes we are all noobs just some worse than others flipped faces means its facing the wrong way and faces or normals as some call it can only be rendered on 1 side so if its flipped it won't render thus becoming invisible. Yes I can test it for you
autodesknoob
see? thats why i asked for fixing after riggin bugs!
JohnPro
Took a look at your model. Its all good news, no need to upgrade your graphics card. You simply didnt edit the envelopes correctly. When you paint weights you must have had the brush too big because parts of the left thigh were on the right thigh and vice versa. This made the legs have invisible triangles. I dont need to add a pic and I didnt fix your model completely since I dont have much free time but by editing the envelopes and making sure you set abs value to 1 and tick rigid as all tutorials say you should be right. Good luck

bull.04
I as well have been doing this. But my model comes out as this in 3DS. Edited envelopes and everything. Took me 2 hours to rig and this is my result. I raged so hard I smacked my keyboard, knocking out the Space Bar. Luckily, it didn't break.
JohnPro
Doesnt really matter that the model is on its side because it gets corrected in the game but perhaps rotating it then doing a reset Xform will solve your problem
bull.04
Well, I could give it a try, but I meant the mesh.
JohnPro
Sorry I didnt see that her hand was in fact messed up. Try the following. Under SKIN Modifier go to advanced Parameters and uncheck "always deform". This will fix your mesh to normal but you have to edit the envelopes again or else it goes back to what it is. bull.04
Do I have to edit the envelopes only where the parts are messed up?
JohnPro
Do I have to edit the envelopes only where the parts are messed up? Yes only the messed up parts and dont paint the weights on. Just click the button. If you paint it chances of mistakes can be high.

bull.04
How do you change the standing position of the ped?
JohnPro
How do you change the standing position of the ped? animgrp.dat lists the available animations for example old woman. Peds.ide tells the game which animation to use for each ped. You can also use ped editor to change its animations. If you would like to change the animation itself then you would need to edit the ifp and tutorials can be found in the tutorials forum.
