[Q]Best patch: Modding ability and the least bugs

Recommended Posts

Hello. I completely reinstalled GTA IV yesterday because i hated how it looked with the new patch. Those few FPS extra are a nice thing, but i rather play online on my Xbox, so there is no need for me to play online at the PC. I just want to walk around in Liberty City enjoying the scenery.

So, what patch is the most compatible one with the least amount of bugs? Patch 3/4/5 were all thge same to me. The only thing i liked about the fifth patch was the anility to freely look around in a chopper without having to press RMB.

Oh, specs:

Windows 7 64bit

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5GHz (can't overclock due OEM bios)

4GB DDR2 RAM.

Sapphire HD4830 512MB (equals the performance of a HD4850 with current OC)

1TB HDD, divided into 4 partitions:

2x not related

1x 60GB for Windows

1x 800GB for my stuff (games)

Hard disk partitions always 100% defragmented. I use GameBooster for defragging game folders.

Got 30 FPS with medium settings (auto config with highest shadows)

That's the answer, in your own post. If the last 3 patches are all the same for you, choose whichever you want. Seems like the 5th patch is the best for you because of the free look ability in the chopper. So, go for it. smile.gif

The best patch to me was the 5th, but I'm playing for 100% again with patch 4 because of some mods.

So... which patch has the most mods for it? (I only care about asi/.net mods)

LOL

GTA IV Settings:

Resolution - 2560 x 2048 (75Hz) (ENB 4x AA)

Texture Quality - High

Reflection Resolution - Very High

Water Quality - Very High

Shadow Quality - Very High

Texture Filter Quality - Highest

View Distance - 100

Detail Distance - 100

Vehicle Density - 100

Shadow Density - 16

Resource usage - 1577 / 24 MB

1.0.3.0 definitely. least bugs and great performance. i'd say the same about 1.0.1.0 but it misses the newer additions like the lights at the bridge, working clock tower, street names.. and also some settings i think.

also 1.0.4.0 was ok, but for me performance was a bit less than 1.0.3.0. i'll say 3 & 4 are worth trying, to see which one runs better on ur rig.

1.0.2.0 had missing objects, 1.0.0.4 has a sh*tload of graphical glitches.

damn R*, this ain't the way to go.
