Grenade Button

I dunno I think that it would be pretty damn convenient if we just to press a button and we could throw a grenade immediately. I hate cycling through my weapons to find my grenades/molotovs because it wastes my precious time. I mean sometimes I need to get a grenade off IMMEDIATELY, not wait 10 seconds for Niko/whoever to unearth them from the infinity of space in their jacket. I'm surprised they haven't implemented it yet, it'd be so useful. If that would be so terrible then they could at least put a shortcut on the D-pad to pull them out quicker.

I dont see this necessery in any way... dozingoff.gif

why? It would be more convenient to be able to throw a grenade with a separate button rather than switching weapons is all I'm saying.

also @ TheBruceter, I guess driving would be the same thing as it is now, it's not like you can shoot and throw sh*t with one arm while driving lol

I hate grenades in GTA IV. It’s like throwing them is done in slow motion! Being able to throw one at the press of a button is a good idea. Think of it this way, if you were a hardened ex-soldier cornered by a NOOSE team, would you coolly reach into your jacket slowly, withdraw a grenade, hold it in your hands for a few seconds, admire the scenery, aim where you want to throw it, then release it, OR know where your grenades are so you can get one at them as fast as possible? Not instantly but definitely quicker than GTA IV characters do it now!

The only thing I like are sticky bombs, and they're only in TBoGT. You still throw them in slow motion, but the precision over when they will explode gives me some flexibility.

I've wanted this in every game that makes you cycle-switch to grenades. They're an excellent tool for drowning people from cover, then shooting them while they run. But in GTA they tend to just find more cover by the time you switch back to a gun. icon13.giforly.gif

you'd lose aim, etc. Think of what throwing a grenade actually entails after you select it as a weapon, then try to bind that all to a key. Also, there is no button for it. Down is hud, left and right for the radio and weapon select, up for the phone, not to mention, you can't just take your thumb off of the stick to stand still and throw a grenade while aiming it with the other stick, you just kill the usefulness of being able to throw a grenade, it's no longer on-the-move, right?

I am thinking about this, how it could be done and be an improvement (not just an alternative to the same outcome, minus a weapons cycling)

That said, forget the consoles and f*ck-a-dpad - mouse scroll wheel keeps my grenades very, very handy, on the move, feeling all dynamic and such xD

On the PC, at least, I really like watching the gun go away and the grenade come out, it kind of adds to the 'come on, come on" moment.

Also, GTA AI is more fun to bomb from a distance when it doesn't yet know you're there.

I think it's fast enough. Quick-throws would be fun, I guess.

But it really doesn't take that long to hit 0, aim and fire, does it?

This is the correct answer.

I don't see any problem why it would be so slow and complicated. It is rather quick and simple.

I have no experience of GTA on consoles except Ps2 so I don't know how Ps3 and Xbox controls work but I play EA Skate 2 (on Xbox) and the way to get back to your marker, you press LB + Up, I think. That would also be a considerable possiblilty, I guess....

The whole idea falls flat on its face because:

A. Niko Bellic is not a war veteran. If his year of birth is indeed 1978, then he served in the Bosnian War at the age of fifteen. That, in my opinion, does not make him a "hardened soldier". Most likely, he learned how to use most firearms during his criminal exploits on the Adriatic Sea.

B. The Grand Theft Auto series are third-person action-adventure games, not first-person shooters. IV gave us the ability to take cover behind obstacles, which leaves you time to switch between weapons.

C. There simply isn't room with the current control scheme for a grenade button.
