dragmetolibertycity
I just thought it would be funny to have three topics saying not f-in this city. But seriously, playing in Chicago would have the same feel as GTAIV, towering skyscrapers and slums. BGModder
Chicago is a lot different than New York. Just because a city has skyscrapers doesn't automatically mean it feels like NY. Guanxi
I feel the same way. Chicago, New York, Boston, London etc all have basically the same gray gritty street atmosphere, climate-weather & vegetation, etc. Granted with London the architecture would be quite different but overall not really distinct enough to differentiate it from Liberty City beside accents and road signs. Only people who know Chicago intimately would understand the nuances and appreciate the subtle details lost on 99% of people. It's hard to get excited about something when your first impression is that of same-yness (hard to explain). Not being an Illinois native I have no idea how Chicago is significantly different enough from NYC to merit it's own rendition, besides having a big river and running through it and all the gangs wearing different colors. With Miami you've got the beaches, you've got some of the worlds very best nightlife, tropical climate, it's instantly recognizable and everybody already feels like they know it from CSI: Miami, etc but if you show me a picture of Chi Town aside from Sears (Wills?) tower it could be anywhere. fastdriver
Chicago would be different than Liberty City, because its not as dark and gritty (it's sunny, but cloudy somtimes), and there's a LOT more besides skyscrapers. There's lots of parks, suburbs if you go north, ghettos if you go south, and the busiest airport in the world for many years to the west. Plus Lake Michigan with all the boats and fishing, Navy Pier with huge shopping and restaurantes. I would love to see the next GTA as Chicago, because anything is possible in that city as it's not as cramped as NY. plus, it's NOT A REPEATED CITY Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/434758-not-f-in-chicago/?do=findComment&comment=1059673519 Share on other sites

CHicago would be different than Liberty City, because its not as dark and gritty (it's sunny, but cloudy somtimes) So is New York... There's lots of parks, suburbs if you go north, ghettos if you go south, and the busiest airport in the world for many years to the west Middle Park, Those parks in Bohan and Broker. Suburbs if you go West. Ghettos if you North, and an extremely busy airport in the east. OOO big difference. Plus Lake Michigan with all the boats and fishing, Navy Pier with huge shopping and restaurantes. Plus the Altanic Ocean and Pier 69 with huge shopping and fast food places you can't enter. Besides all cities are islands now so... plus, it's NOT A REPEATED CITY Maybe not but Saint's Row has pretty much already done the midwestern city vibe to falut. Basically Chicago is the same as New York in terms of gameplay. I think Detroit is a much better choice. Carcer City here we come! Lizard_King
What everyone is trying to say is that Chicago serves the same purpose as Liberty City. Although it does have some subtle differences, It's still the same sh*t. Liberty City is R*'s primary place to create a gritty concrete jungle, so they will probably just rotate back to it after people have gotten used to other types of scenery. It would be pointless to dedicate an entire GTA to a generic city like Chicago, there are dozens of cities in the U.S. that are very similar to it and it wouldn't have a distinct feel to it. To me I would just feel like I was just in a different district of Liberty City... Tipper
Chicago feels quite a lot like NY, the only way in my opnion to make it different is setting it in winter with snowy weather.
