Well, for those of you who saw my topic in this forum, my iPod is messed up. I gave up trying to fix it myself, so I called up Apples tech support. And I must say, it was the best tech support I've had. I had someone who actually spoke English and not someone Indian in a call centre thousands of kilometres away who barely speaks English (no offence to anyone). Even though the warranty is up on my iPod, Apple is sending me a postage-paid package in which I'm to send my iPod to them and they'll send me a brand new one. Needless to say, I'm quite impressed right now. biggrin.gif

Anyone else have any great tech support stories they'd like to share?

IF you're lucky, as they can send you a refurbished one.

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/#warranty6

Replacement iPods may be new or refurbished.

Also, according to that FAQ page, if you provided them with a credit card number, they could charge you a "service fee". You might want to check that out. wow.gif

Nope. I didn't provide them with a credit card number. The guy actually told me I'd actually get sent a brand new iPod.

Not a Tech Support Story but Apple related.

Android outselling Iphone

Saw that a few days ago, didn't think to post it here. Definitely good news, but I'm surprised Blackberry is doing so well. Not that they make bad phones, just didn't expect that it was selling so well.

Just had a look at my past test results on Speedtest. Interesting to see my download speed has gone from 2.07mb/s on the 11th February 2007 to 9.67mb/s today.

My original speed was 1.6mbps for a long time. A while back I noticed the speed was significantly faster so I did a new test and it was up to 2.6mbps! A welcome increase in speed that came out of nowhere, and it was much closer to the max of 3.0mbps for the plan we have.

Buuuut, f*ck those slow speeds. The new place I'm moving to I'll have a 25mbps download speed, 6mbps upload smile.gif

I can't f*cking wait... although I hear the ISP is very quick to watch your downloads ph34r.gif

My internet speed dropped for some reason, and now I think Its back to normal notify.gif

Should be getting my new case tomorrow, Ive decided not to go with watercooling at the moment. I have way too much money going other places. So Im going with the silverstone fortress! I'll post some images in the other thread once I have it! Then Its saving time for another CPU cooler smile.gif

Next time you guys see me I'll probably be rocking a 25mbps connection biggrin.gif

Unless I post from my phone in the meantime, but that's not likely in the section of the board.

I would like to inform you guys that the Nexus One now has official Android 2.2 Froyo! Large speed improvements through out, slightly modified home screen (call and browser shortcut added next to app tray button on launcher), might have Flash 10.1 (full flash! not sure if it's included, but probably is), auto update/update all option in market... and a few more things I'm forgetting. N1 users lucked out in one way at least...

Plus, at Google I/O, they announced that the next version of Android which will be named Gingerbread (2.3/2.5/3.0, no one is sure yet), will have Google's WebM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebM

Should help the browser be a much fuller experience, especially as HTML5 becomes more prevalent.

Yeah, if you compare 3 Mbps to 25 Mbps, it does sound slow...

Try using a 1 Mbps connection, and you'll see how slow really feels like. You can't even play a nice Multiplayer match in any game because people are complaining about you all the time. Stupid monopolies... confused.gif

Oh well, has anyone heard anything about the new 3 TB hard drives? wow.gif

Is it just me or does the interface in Office 2010 look older than the one in 2007. I don't think I'll bother upgrading anyway since the school has only just switched to 2007.

I quite like the new office 2010. Seems much more easier to use then previous versions.

I think MS realized that making it so blue and stylish it put off a lot of people, in regards to MS Office 2007. The GUI was just too distracting and busy.

Anyhow, I'd just like to post this:

Finally got on our own network. Sure I'm not getting the full speed (25mbps down), but I'm two rooms away from the wireless router and seriously it's loading everything insanely fast. Youtube videos in HD finally load faster than the progress bar goes through the video! tounge.gif I'm loving this!

Keep in mind all you in other countries, no bandwidth limit here! biggrin.gif

I must say despite it might seem pathetic, it's quite enough for me. Some more speed wouldn't hurt though. tounge.gif

Not here either, but it's slow as hell.

My ISP actually wants to sell me a 5 Mbps package for 77 USD a month... damn expensive and ridiculous if you ask me. confused.gif

@girish, lol. I hope the internet by Tata is more reliable/safe than their cars tounge.gif

But wow, that's REALLY fast, especially the upload speed.

Really though, for the most part my connection loads up pages before I can even tell for the most part. Larger pages with more content hesitate for a second or two but generally it's really fast. I downloaded a 700mb movie in 15 minutes. Holy. sh*t. If I got 100% speed I could do it in about 5 minutes, but I'll take 15 with no complaint, hahahah.

Those under 1Mbps... ouch!

It's okay enough for two xbox and 3 Pcs in my house,

although I'm most likely going to be upgrading (mostly) to get a higher UL in the near future.

I really don't have many problems with lag, maybe once every few months if that while gaming.

Also my ISP is rather nice with payments and policies,

which is nice when compared to other large companies that do throttling and other odd things.

I'm f*cking sick of my sh*t service provider. I'm looking into changing soon, we were with toucan surf for 4 years. Then they were bought out by pipex, then tiscali and now speedtest shows its talktalk. Its nice to know where the f*ck I stand. We were never told after the pipex change.

My download was 5.9 and upload 500 ish, now its...

And this is what you get when you pay for 'no download limit and highest speed internet' in Belgium. Yes, we got the most expensive internet in the world and it's crappy compared to probably 99% of the developed countries that have internet aswell.

Well, it's the best we've ever had anyway. We were with BT for a few years, then Sky for a month. Both were to be honest terrible. Sometimes we'd go months with the internet down. Since we switched to Virgin Media a couple of years ago the internet hasn't been down at all. We're on the XL package, with 10MB internet.

I rang them just, and they said 24.99 a month for 10Mb fibre cable plus phone. Free install aswell.

Its pretty good considering were paying that for our sh*tty 8Mb ADSL service.

Virgin Media are a great broadband provider. I'm been with them for the past 2 years, and recently upgraded to the XXL package. Not a single downtime or problem with them.
