Can't get it off

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a problem on some forums. Sometimes, when I want to post words like 'don't' or 'I'm', I have to use this '.

But when I use it, there appears a find bar like this one.

I don't know what to do to remove it, I just can't write with ' anymore and it pisses me off. Can someone help me to remove it?

Thanks, appreciated!

If you can circle the area you're referring to, might help...are you just showing cant without the apostrophe?

Ok, there is a small Quick Find window I note on the bottom, that's the one?

I suggest if a remap accured, and something was assigned via that method, Best first step is remove power and reboot, try even resetting the CMOS battery, there we go again!

You know what I mean

The Quick Find is said to activated when you press Win key + '

Try going to the config page; in the address bar type about:config

In the Filter bar type accessibility.typeaheadfind and double click this to change it to False. Restart FF for it to take effect.

While you're at it make sure that accessibility.typeaheadfind.linksonly and accessibility.typeaheadfind.startlinksonly are also set to False.

Everything was already set to False.

OK try this.

Exit Firefox

Go to

XP = C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR ACCOUNT\Application Data\Mozilla\

Vista/7 = C:\Users\YOUR ACCOUNT\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\

Rename the Mozilla folder; example Mozilla-backup

Open Firefox and go to the same websites you have the issue and see if it happens again.

If it does then something else is wrong. If not then there is something in a setting some place else in FF or an extension that is causing it.
