ikt
Hello there. I play with around 30FPS, benchmarking in the mid 40's. But it's still a bit choppy imho. And the game looks bad. (Can't show pics now, i'm using ENB Series + 4xAA + 0.5FPS)
Quemical
Benchmark is useless. In game i get around 25-30 in the middle of the city and 60 at the edges of the map.
Ryan
I play with all the settings set to the maximum, and I get an average of around 60 FPS.
Mudfrog
I average in the upper 40's in gameplay, occasionally dipping down to 30ish. In the benchmark I get over 60.. so yes, definitely worthless.

Chevyboy
43 average with med to high settings. Ditto. Low's of high 30's makes for some very smooth gameplay. Truth be told if you suffer from low FPS dips, limiting your maximum to 30ish and keeping your lows in the 20's keeps it fairly smooth and still very playable. ikt
Okay, seems like 40FPS or at least 30FPS is common and playable. Benchmark is a bitch. It's as inaccurate as real life no scoped/aimed shooting with a fullautomatic AK with 2 broken arms and temporarily blindness caused by a flashbang. supermortalhuman
Benchmark is useless. Nah, no it isn't. It is a benchmark of multiplayer gaming, for multiplayer benchmarking. Replace the benchmark file with your own clip capture, or call one of your captures as the benchmark source to get a single player benchmark. BKwegoharder
Here is a fraps benchmark from me. 2009-11-28 11:16:00 - GTAIV Frames: 21804 - Time: 683399ms - Avg: 31.905 - Min: 27 - Max: 33 This was with me playing for a very long time in a 6 star car chase(Invincible mode FTW) My settings 1920 x 1080 Textures Medium Water quality Medium Reflection Resolution: Medium Shadow Quality: Very High Texture Filtering: Highest View Distance: 1 Detail Distance 100 Vehicle Density 33 Shadow Density: 0 Definition: off Vsync: On I also use this commandline.txt to cap my framerate at about 32/33. -refreshrate 30 -framelimit 1 To keep it capped make sure you have vsync on when the game starts. If you change certain settings the refresh rate changes so you won't be locked at 30fps. The game is real smooth to me since there are no frame rate fluctuations. I also lowered a lot of my settings so I can use Very High shadows since high shadows don't look very good to me. Other wise I'd have Water quality at Very High, Reflection at Very High View distance at 34 etc. I have a Radeon 4850 an i7 and 4GB of DDR3 ram. Murcchachosa
Why everyone is damn complaining about performance issues???? The section PC IV is full of "bugs, issues and glitches" And now everyone gets 30-40 FPS?? Nice nice, very nice. I face sometimes laggs but I accept it. My average FPS is 23-27. When at the beach, max 43.
NiSsAn_BoY
Lets see max-I think I seen 97 once lol Min-30-35 low-20 but im not on the new patch im still on patch 1.0.4.0 using xliveless not real happy with the new patch, it did give me some fps boost but with the bugs I seen, its not worth it

I think the people complaining about their performance have low to middle end gaming systems. In order to get good frame rates you really do need a decently built system. OverTheBelow
I capped mine at a solid 30fps so I don't get the annoying framerate fluctuations as I move about the city. It's great.
ikt
Why does everyone gets stable framerates. Mine goes up to 80 at the sea, while it's 20 in the city.

xxCrowTechxx
I capped mine at a solid 30fps so I don't get the annoying framerate fluctuations as I move about the city. It's great. Wish I could do that... As it stands, I have to run 1.0.3.0 and drive the game as hard as I possibly can to keep her steady. I get around 30-40 doing that but, at night, it still pops up to the stutter zone (60ish) in a few locations. It does too, unfortunately, cause some areas to run under 20fps but only in extreme conditions and it's limited to a few trouble spots as well. I can easily get the game to run 60-80fps with more reasonable settings but it stutters like madddddd and I have yet to figure out a correction for this (video driver is the most likely suspect now). Anyway...the game *does* run pretty well at 1.0.3.0 at ~30fps (min 25, peak 50) at kind of stupid settings for my video card really (but it's the only way...LOL!). BTW, are you capping to 30fps with VSync or by some other means?

mkey82
Are you sure you limited it to 30 and not to the screen refresh rate? "-framelimit" accepts a boolean as the parameter.
Rob.Zombie
I had 4322 FPS once at the loading screen Anyway I get about 70-80 FPS at airport, if I look towards the ocean, and I get usually 30-40 fps in the city. The lowest FPS is 18 in Chinatown at night.
BKwegoharder
Are you sure you limited it to 30 and not to the screen refresh rate? "-framelimit" accepts a boolean as the parameter. Capping it works perfectly for me. First off you have to set vsync on beforehand. Make sure you do this before you do the next steps. Second you make a commandline.txt and put -refreshrate 30 -framelimit 1 Then start the game and use fraps to check your framerate it should be at a max of around 30. Don't worry about this breaking your monitor. Any monitor that was made any time within the last couple of years will NOT break from this. The worst that can happen is that you get a screen that says out of range for a few seconds, but most likely this will work.

Also, what resolution are you running at?
