64BITGeek
Hello fellow sufferers of GTA IV I got the game when it was released in the UK & played it without too much trouble on XP SP3, but then Windows 7 ruined any chance of playing it for a while I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 64BIT RC & discovered that I can play GTA IV again (not been able to play since June). Anyway I have it installed & updated fully using the XBOX360 controller emulator to use my Logitech Rumblepad 2 with the game to much success But the problem is no matter which way I setup the graphics everything maxed except for the draw distance & detail, (around 30 to keep my GPU happy) I keep running into the same problem, if I hit an object or person the game crashes instantly I thought it was to do with the particle effects or somthing but I noticed that I can break into cars just fine, (glass particles scatter with no bother). Has anybody got a clue whats going on? FYI: I have try'd all compatabilty settings (XP SP3, Vista SP1 & SP2) but they just stop the game from starting at all Specs: AMD Phenom II 940 BLack @ 3.8GHz & idle: 28C, Max Load: 34C (stable) Asus M4A78-E, AM3, DDR2 1200+, AMD790GX, Crossfire 2X2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 1066MHz @ 800MHz (don't ask ) ungaged/single channel Sapphire HD4870 1GB GDDR5 Hitachi 320GB SATAII 16MB HDD (temp main) Samsung 160GB SATAII 8MB HDD (backup) CoolerMaster Extreme Power Duo 650W (tests fine) Windows 7 RC 64Bit Build 7100 Missed anything? gta_pk
Are you using PC version or xbox36 version of the Game ? it may be your "XBOX360 controller emulator" not compatible with win7 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/434424-strange-windows-7-64bit-crash/#findComment-1059667488 Share on other sites
mkey82
You should test this on a clean game install, without any possible mods or the even the x360 emu. busymind
Is GTA IV now compatible with Windows 7? I would like to upgrade my VITSA OS to Windows 7 but thinking if GTA IV would work. Since they say that Windows 7 is better than Windows Vista. Please help before I upgrade my system. GTA IV was the first game I installed and I haven't had an issue with it. Hope this helps Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/434424-strange-windows-7-64bit-crash/#findComment-1059667697 Share on other sites
