Enjoii Posted June 22, 2010 Author Share Posted June 22, 2010 The beta finally unlocked for me so I've been playing for a while. It's good fun, and for a beta it's been fairly flawless for me. My only problem is with the sniper rifles. I've put up to 4 shots into an enemy before actually getting the kill, which is too much in my opinion. To be honest the Bolt action rifles should have one shot one kill (especially with hollow points). I like their approach to sniper rifles though they should've looked at Modern Warfare for the 'sprinting/hold breath' thing. It should be a one key deal. I can only hope they put in enough 'unlocks/attachements' and enough different weapons in order to have enough variety because what you have isn't alot... and you unlock them pretty fast aswell. Ranking up goes way too fast, unlocking things is too damn easy. I hope they'll fix these things... somewhat more recoil wouldn't do anyone harm. I also hope most maps are bigger than the ones we've seen. Overall really curious about the final release. Also the fact you can't choose what sidearm you want to use is rather odd... would be nice to be able to pick your sidearm (Why isn't there any T-33/Makarov? It has everything to beat Call of Duty (the Modern Warfare series atleast) and actually does it right. Hell, maps look better... weapons feel better... everything sounds better. But I just know people won't rush to the stores for this seeing as the masses think this is a 'Call of Duty ripoff'. Knife Posted July 7, 2010 Share Posted July 7, 2010 I just got the PC beta. Gameplay is pretty good, a lot of similarities to Bad Company 2. It feels strange when certain things aren't like BC2 (for example, grenades cannot be thrown as far). But the menus and server browser are just horrible. The menus are way too large for a PC game and certainly need work. The server browser is an absolute turd. No filters and when I clicked sort by ping it only showed them sorted by highest first and not the other way around. Obviously it's a beta but it shouldn't be that sh*t even in the beta. Also bringing up text chat doesn't work and just leaves you with no option but to force-quit the game because a box pops up and cannot be closed. It needs work and hopefully it will get it. On top of that, Knife: they have already stated to fix numerous things (GUI/Menu's for PC, server browser, recoil and weapon tweaking for PC and alot of other 'bugs'). Still waiting for some Special Edition announcement... (that isn't exclusive to a specific platform). But I have this feeling that they won't do such a thing with this game. It is very similar to BFBC2 but that's not a bad thing, to me it seems more patient attacking play rather than going out "all guns blazing". You'll notice that said gamemode is rather odd and/or buggy (as a normal player you want to flank via place X or place Y but you can't acces said area). Or even better: blowing up certain blockades doesn't do anything. Your tank will simply spawn at your 'next spawn' ('Attackers' spawn moves along with each objective that has been taken/destroyed). They should've spent more time on the objective gamemode and crafting it into something unique and cool. Now it's just a mixture of Bad Company's Rush gamemode and 'Search and Destroy/Domination'. Still, the game is awesome and I hope we can expect ALOT more in the full retail release. Which I kind of doubt though (in other words: in a way I'll be letdown). That's by far the only confusing thing...and the fact that it does not tell you what button to press when you get a killstreak too. Giving the M21 and the like the option to use a RDS makes perfect sense, since from what I've seen you get a choice between the RDS and a normal sniper scope as well as the fact that the Dragunuv and M21 are more Scout Snipers than anything it fits perfectly.
