I have a good idea for a storyline

Recommended Posts

The game starts out with [protagonist] waking up in the hospital, not remembering anything that occurred in recent events. He looks to his side and notices a woman, very attractive, resting in a chair next to his bed. She looks at [protagonist] and screams happily. [protagonist] is confused. He says "Hey". The girl says "Is that all you can say? Hey." [protagonist] doesn't know this woman at all. The last thing he remembers is going to bed. [protagonist] has a confused look on his face. The woman says "Do you know who you are?". [protagonist] says "Of course! I'm [protagonist]! I wish I could know who you are." The woman starts crying and says "You don't remember me?!" [protagonist] states that he has never met the woman in his life, that he could remember. "I'm your girlfriend, Miranda! Does that name sound familiar?"

Basically what I'm trying to get at is the next game will focus around a protagonist that has been in a coma for almost 2 years. Throughout the entire game we meet up with people that the protagonist knew from before his accident.

He doesn't remember what had happened a year earlier. So... the protagonist was in bed and it was October 2007. He wakes up and it's September 2009. He knows people he met before October 2007 but not after that.

We find out through the story that the protagonist has been trying to protect a girl that has been trying to escape a mob/gang for a few months, which is Miranda, who is the protagonists girlfriend (as you read). The protagonist met the girl while she was involved in the mob/gang but not working as a mob/gang member, but a servant.

I just would like to see R* do a loss of memory protagonist. Something that they haven't even neared yet.

How could he have met people while in a coma? confused.gif

Needs a few kinks ironed out but I like the idea icon14.gif

The antagonist could be someone claiming to be the protagonist's friend yet in the final events turns out to be the reason that the girlfriend is on the run and the protagonist was in a coma!

he means they met before oct 07.

Sound idea, could be like a crime version of The Bourne Identity.

major underscore

I read recently about a real life occurence of memory loss here in Sweden, where a gang member was in a car crash, woke up in a hospital later, couldn't remember who he was and was shocked when he looked at his arms and torso and saw all these gang tattoos. He had to go back to the people who knew him and try to figure out who he was and how he had become that person.

Ur rite the loss of memory thing is appealing tho the coma seems too related to Saints Row 2 and overused

In Saint's Row a boat explodes and the protagonist wakes up in the hospital with memory of everything that occurred. How is this anything like SR2? The protagonist doesn't remember anything while the protagonist in SR2 clearly does. Really now.

He was obviously referring to the fact the protagonist is out of out for a long time, in a coma.

And the amnesia thing is even more overused then the coma thing. R* has avoided such cheap, mediocre plot pieces in the past, it should continue to do so.

Algonquin Bridge

My name is [protagonist name here]. I had an accident and I woke up in 2009. Am I mad? In a coma? or forwards in time?

Not really fond of the idea, personally. Just doesn't seem too...GTA'ish.

The protagonist needs to get revenge on the person who almost killed him... but instead put him in a coma. If I could think of a better story then I would have something but R* has not used the coma thing yet. They haven't avoided it, they just simply haven't used it yet.

sounds good

about the cliché thing, it's worth remembering that Max Payne's plot is VERY used in movies (a cop who avenges the death of his family) and the game become one of the greatests hits of all time

Honestly though. The protagonist can be bad ass. R* just never used amnesia on a GTA protagonist before. If someone can think of a better storyline then please post it... obviously the protagonist must have amnesia though

I'm sorry, but amnesia is a cliche and does not suit the style or theme of GTA, especially in the IV canon.
