Recording/Editing PS3

Recommended Posts

Where can I find a recorder that can record my gameplay while I'm on the PS3 and edit it into some kind of movie.

If it cost a lot it won't matter I can always work more at my job and try to get a loan ontop of that continued with saving up my money.

But,still if anyone can post any sources where I can get something like that I will really appreciate it.

While at the local pawnshop, I noted two Dazzle digital encoders, the newer models used for capturing from many sources, digital or analog, rely a lot on the PC's attributes, which I mentioned before, mine all work on less then one gig of CPU processing clock speed. As well, memory is not demanding. These older variety still make DVDs and MPEG1 captures. IF you want HD, you'd pay closer to $150 to $200 maybe, no more then that I suspect, unless you're looking for an HD capture card also supporting 3D gaming, The new All in Wonder ATIs.

The two Dazzle ones I saw were priced at $100.

You can find DV socket software that will work with a digital video signal input, so possible conversion of the HDMI output I think, never got mine to work though.

Why the hell can't you just tell him to get a video capture device for his PC and connect this PS3 to it?

Why does he need to read about your lame ass trip to a pawnshop? How does that help him in anyway?

Because, it's a price reference on what you can still find available, it all depends on if you're looking for the latest, greatest, of course, or something that is not as "hardware-picky", the newer capture devices that are external will rely a lot on memory and processing speed. I prefer when the burden is more on the device itself, and aids the computer running at peak in a way.

By DV port software, I mean, I have several versions of Studio by Pinnacle, one that just uses DV port input IEEE 1394 IIRC, AKA Firewire for the PC ports. You can just get Apple style Firewire but the two should be compatible for digital video input to and from.

The PS3 supports HDMI because of the combined audio and video in one simple cable and support for content protection. I'd check on adapting that to DV, I just am not too sure. A capture card would allow various inputs. My method is direct the video to a recorder, then the TV, or record direct to a camcorder, I've done both methods without much complaint.

ADS Tech is what I use most often, though I have Dazzle's Digital Creation STation or something like that, intended for Mpeg 2 DVD.

Same could be said for ADS's DVD Xpress, but it's been revised for newer vid standards, still on the market. Mine came with editing software I don't even use, I have Power Producer from a PCI card vid capture one I bought as well, a generic brand with good software thrown in and a PVR option, not much good with analog TV dead.

CapWiz I mentioned before, saves RIGHT to Mpeg1 and then I upload that so there's no editing of frames needed, it's pretty painless. Mpeg1 for YouTube just allows me to get up to 10 minutes of video around 100MBs size wise, the quicker to upload!
