GTA specs good enough?

Recommended Posts

I've been here before, but now I have a used, but better rig.

Here's my specs because I'm terrible at comparing.

OS: Windows XP Professional SP 3

Processor: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 3.20 GHZ (2 CPUs)

Memory: 2942 MB RAM

Video Card: RADEON X600 PRO (0x5B62)

So, what'll happen, I don't think the video card is good enough, but I may be mistaken.

Thanks ahead of time.

Doubtful with that card... does it have shader model 3 support?

I have seen some wild things with GTA IV and pentium 4 dual core - I've seen videos ranging from the unplayable to the very much so playable, but can't vouch if they are real... is that dual or or "2 cpus" is just single core but multi-threaded?

The video does not exist where I can loosely look to youtube to make comparisons:

According to the selected video, it is equivalent to a ATi 9600 agp?

no fruit for vids there either...

Here is someone playing hawx on the "equivalent" card,

http://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&...815847475414844

However, the min specs for hawx are not in the same category as GTA IV's:

HAWX Minimum System RequirementsOS: Windows XP SP 3/Vista SP 1Processor: Pentium 4 @ 2 GHz/AMD Athlon 2000+Memory:1 GB on Windows XP/ 2 GB on Windows VistaHard Drive: 7 GB FreeVideo Memory: 128 MB – Shader Model 2.0*Sound Card: DirectX CompatibleDirectX: 9.0c or 10Keyboard & MouseDVD Rom Drive

GTA IV Minimum System RequirementsOS: Windows XP/VistaProcessor: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 1.8 GHz/AMD Athlon 64 X2 @ 2.4 GHzMemory: 1.5 GBHard Drive: 16 GB FreeVideo Memory: 256 MB (nVidia GeForce 7900/ATI Radeon X1900)Sound Card: DirectX CompatibleDirectX: 9.0cKeyboard & MouseDVD Rom Drive

If your card supports shader model 3.0, or has "Full Direct x9 Compatibility", it is worth a shot knowing that if it doesn't work as expected, the processor would be your first target to replace.

Your video card is severely outdated. Even people with the recommended card are having problems (from what I've read). About the processor, I'm not sure (since you have two Pentiums) but I doubt that IV is designed to utilize the Pentium architecture. In either case, you definitely need a new video card !!!
