ping limit..whats that?

I have been hearing all about the ping limitation in GTA IV over LAN. Can anyone describe to me what it does and how it would affect GTA4 on LAN?

Ping is also known as lag, or basically means how fast or slow a persons internet is, this will basically inform other players who is creating the lag in a certain game, the lower the ping the better, the higher the ping the more lag, glitches, invisablity or watever the player is adding to the game..high ping = baddd

thanks crad-man k got what ping means .... but how does that relate to GTA IV ping limit I heard about? What would cause a high ping in GTA IV which would, as i heard, disconnect the players?
