how to get rid of the pop ins?

Recommended Posts

hi guys.

im runing this rig:

Q6600 at 2.4GHZ

2GB ram

RADEON HD4870 512mb

i am aware that if i set textures on high than the swapping of textures will result in many pop ins of objects and textures but it also happens if i set the textures to medium.

are there any commandlines i can put in the commandline.txt that will help me with the texture pop-ins and objects pop-ins?

my FPS are just fine and i havo no complaints. it's just the pop ins.

thanks.

I had it on medium settings after about 30 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes each playtime UNLESS I turned down shadows to high and turned OFF reflections... 1gb video card completely fixed this, and I max things when I please now without pop in (seemingly at all - it almost feels wrong to not see LOD switching tounge.gif).

The

-availablevidmem 2.0

did the trick for me when i had a xfx 4870 512 mbs

and let me increase to high textures with zero pop in

to the above poster when i changed to a 1 gig card 5770 (when overclocked is nearly as good as 4870) i have exact same performance as when i used too use the 512 mbs 4870 with that command line

but its very unique this game how it performs on everyones pc

so its difficult to give the topic creater a difinitive answer cryani.gif

well, u tried to help and i WILL try the commandline suggestion. if it doesnt help than at least i ruled out one solution.

to be honest - it would be weird if that line will help. i thought the issue was that my GPU memory didnt have enough space for all the textures and i dont see how virtually telling the game i have more memory will fix this but may my GPU memory isn't used to it's fullest.... i dunno.

if more ppl will try to help than maybe one of the advices will solve this issue for me, so please, ppl, if u got ideas - let me hear them.

i repeat - my FPS is fine. i just hate the pop-ins.
