CryptReaperDorian
Okay, onto business. Vehicle Recycling. As we've seen in the GTA III era R* always liked to recycle vehicles for other games. Anyways, I believe R* will also do this in the GTA IV canon. This means that we will most likely not see a GTA in Europe in this generation of consoles YET. I don't R* is going to throw away all the vehicle coding in GTA IV for almost completely different vehicles where you drive on the right side of the vehicle. Another thing to look at is the police vehicles. Now I don't know everything about the Miami Police Department, but from what I saw from GTA IV and TBOGT it looks like they are preparing for another trip to VC. The police vehicles will obviously be re-skinned. Lots of this is from what I've seen from media. In CSI: Miami Horatio and the CSI unit uses Hummers. We already have a police version of a Hummer in GTA IV (Patriot, N.O.O.S.E. Patriot). From Reno 911: Miami, the Reno squad uses police Mustangs. While the closest thing to the Mustang is the Bullet GT from TBOGT, the FIB Buffalo/Police Cruiser (Buffalo version from TBOGT) is also a muscle car. In TBOGT multiplayer there is the Police Bike which there was a VCPD Wintergreen in GTA VCS. If R* decides to bring back the VCPD Cheetah they may just reskin the Police Stinger from TBOGT with a bit different coding such as a rear-mounted engine (or just leave it as it is and keep the name Police Stinger). Better Vehicle Explosions. While in GTA IV the vehicle explosions are more deeply textured than the previous games, I feel they are too weak. First off, vehicle explosions usually aren't small yellow puffs. Sometimes they're more of an orange/red mushroom shape (like the molotov cocktail burst in GTA VCS). Another thing that should be applied is a wind effect on vehicle explosions. There should be a blaze added to the vehicle explosions which can set anything nearby on fire when a wind directs it. It should be kept though at probably a max of ten feet out of the explosion. Alternate Ammo. In TBOGT we experienced R* adding alternate ammo for a shotgun (explosive rounds). Also, R* had explosive rounds available via cheat or in multiplayer. I really think this should stay in the next GTA. This should be especially for shotguns since I don't always want to be limited to buckshot which isn't that powerful on targets further away. Hopefully R* adds slugs for shotguns as they would not lose power in their travel ranges. I say this type of ammo shouldn't be available though until further in the game due to the power of a slug (which will be weaker than the full buckshot though for certain reasons). Going by GTA4.NET's weapon stats, my studies show that the Pump Shotgun's full power should probably be 280 or 300 while the Combat Shotgun should probably be 170. Those are quite strong, so for the shotgun slugs I came up with powers they should have. A Combat Shotgun slug should be powered at 100 (would drain somebody's health) and a Pump Shotgun slug should be powered at 170 (enough or almost enough to take down an armored N.O.O.S.E. guy). The slugs should still keep the same range though. Like I said, if they include slugs they shouldn't be unlockable until late in the game as they would be devestatingly powerful against enemies in range. Just to note, a sniper round is powered at 75. My studies used a Police Stockade and the health cheat to repair it when it caught fire. It took 45 sniper shots to the front to start it on fire, 20 Combat Shotgun shots to start it on fire, and 12 Pump Shotgun shots to start it on fire. Discuss sh*t. K^2
Despite "recycling", all or nearly all models have been redone anyways. If next GTA takes place in a different era, as it has in the past, R* will have to re-do the models anyways. At that point, it makes little difference if they use all the same cars or change some of them. Besides, many of the cars in GTA are already built to resemble European cars. If next GTA is set in Europe, I'm sure we'll hear some new vehicle names, but we'll still see a lot of familiar vehicles as well. Oh, and as far as game engine goes, it doesn't care whether the driver is on the left or on the right. The animations need to be changed, but since they simply need to be mirrored, I don't expect it to be any trouble. On the vehicle itself, it is just the marker for the driver location that is changed. And since these are likely to be re-modeled anyways, that's not going to make a difference. So while yes, I completely expect the trend of vehicle "recycling" to continue, it is no indication that GTA will stay in US. Only thing they recycle is the names. That having been said, quite a few cars in IV are based on European cars. The blatantly obvious M3 mock-up being a prime example. General Goose
Meh, I don't see how swapping the driver's side will be that hard. They did it for the GTA1 expansions. I mean, going back in time will likely require new vehicles and coding as well, but will that stop R*? However, I do expect to see at least some vehicle recycling. I too hope for better explosions as well as other better effects. I hope they push this generation to the limit, then do the same with the next. Alternative ammo=I love. Interrobangin
What about propelled grenade rounds for the AA-12? Although I guess that might be too much fun. Little William
Not just alternate ammo, but weapon modification too, despite what all the critics has said, it should work in GTA too. It is only in England(maybe in the rest of Great Britain also) where you drive on the right side of the vehicle and road. In the rest of Europe you drive on the left side Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/434198-vehicle-recycling-better-explosions-alt-ammo/#findComment-1059688257 Share on other sites
oc student
Better effects will be hard since the RAGE engine doesn't have soft particles and any attempt for better effects won't really look much better.
