Retrieving the Skylift!

Ugh, now, every time I manage to land on that overpass where you're to snipe him from, he starts flying abckwards, meaning he's never over viable ground to snipe him onto.

Anyone have any ideas on this, and how to prevent it? It worked twice (although once I died because my Annihilator broke when I landed), and now it does this EVERY TIME.

Whenever I do it, after he stops in midair, he starts going backwards, then after about 15 seconds he stops and goes forward again. This is when I'm flying next to him in the Annihilator (I don't land on the overpass right away). Maybe that will help, I don't know. Just wait for him to start flying forward, then land.

This was indeed the problem. Figured it out on my own, but thanks anyways!

How is my write-up on how to obtain it, anyways? Assuming of course that I edit the strategy to account for the "moving backwards" thing, of course.

Great. NOW every time I try to do it, the Skylift explodes on impact. Every. Time. It doesn't seem to matter WHERE I shoot it down, either.

Do I need to bring it down in shallow water and NOT the beach? Or should I do it when it's actually over that raised highway chunk it flies over? (except where could I shoot it from...)

EDIT: Tried putting it down over the raised highway and it worked perfectly. The new version of my guide should be posted tomorrow at places it's posted (such as GameFAQs), so if anyone spots problems with my strategy then, let me know!

Here's my experience.

- Add that the user should turn off autosaving or make an autosave before the mission, to avoid having one annoying failed attempt at racing yusuf where the autosave confirm comes up.

- I fly next to yusuf until he starts moving towards the highway, then i fly over there an land on the curve, slightly to the right of yusuf's flight path, if looking towards him.

- Wait until he has nearly approached the highway edge, then fire any round of ammo on him, NOT killing him, but "scaring him". It does not have to be the advanced mg, i have successfully used m4a1, and exploding shotgun aswell. I think any will do...

- He will go on a slow descent forward/downward and land softly, then run away in fear

- If you scared him at the right time, he will have landed on the highway and you can get in!

--- As for the subway car version, I just point the rotor sharply backwards without using the shoulder buttons to turn, and eventually the helicopter will turn around by itself - which is easier because you can focus on the rotor tilt and camera only

--- When using the cheat, you need to be quick. I added the cheat to the phone shortcut, then i practised the button press sequence to spawn it, including Y to enter and B tapping to speed up running to it. Better to practise that a few times before coming to the critical step smile.gif

--- It is worth noticing that all you need to do in the actual mission on the subway car roof is to run to the first subway car and lay down, you will easily complete the mission without doing anything...

Most of those I noted, but somehow the autosave issue eluded me. I'll be sure to add that to my next update, thanks!

I guess it's because I never, ever touch autosave, so I forget it exists.

Lay down? you can lay down on the train when riding it?

You click down on the Left Analogue Stick. It was put in there mainly for one part of the mission where an Annihilator hovers over the train, and if you don't shoot it down quick enough, you must duck underneath it. You can see me ducking in the video I did which I linked to, further up the page *cough* moto_whistle.gif .

I count it more as two to the power of two-hundred-and-sixty-seven-thousand, seven-hundred-and-nine to one against.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy [Radio version] by Douglas Adams, this number is used when stating the odds against Ford and Arthur being rescued by a passing spaceship just after being thrown out an airlock. In the book, the odds are two to the power of two hundred and sixty thousand, one hundred ninety nine to one.

Now do you know mine colgate.gif

If the Skylift is destroyed while still being in the parking spot, and you've saved after parking it, will it disappear if you reload the same file like the Hexer? Or will it still be there?

You can park it there, just like the hexer, just very hard to land it, because the Skylift is big.

Has anyone tried to pick up something with it by pressing every single button? Maybe there's combos to get something. I bet there's a way to pick stuff up.

I spent roughly 2 hours trying everything in the game that is big enough to be hooked on, and i tried everything, and i mean everything, i even tried getting out and walking up to the oblect to see if it comes up with a little info thin to say how to attatch it, no luck.

Sorry guys but the magnet dosn't seem to have any sort of interactive coding in it, and also you can go under the helicopter and jump up and hang on the magnet, other than that, it is just part of the model and does nothing. Oh well, the main thing is that we found out how to retrieve it, that's the good thing. icon14.gif

Ehhh this seems like too much work for something that does nothing but fly. If it could pick stuff then I would make the effort but it doesnt so its a waste of time.

Well, each to his own, some people do it for the challenge. I had alot of fun doing it, and did not consider it "work"...

Exactly, probably the only working part in the whole retrival method would have to be the mission. But at least you are getting a better score for that mission, when i first realised it could be retrieved, i spent quite a few tres on it, and in the end i kept on getting 100% for it. So all in all it pays off, and the Skylift can be saved, so you don't have to keep doing the same mission when you want it. Just go to the parking space, not work at all.

okay, found something quite interesting,

I have the chopper, but I was trying to find other ways to obtain it, when I took a sniper and ran right on the baseball field. I aimed the gun at the chopper, and for about a second I saw the guy's head. i din't have a chance to snipe him, but this could be a much faster way to get the skylift.

Could somebody test this, as I am a terrible sniper

No, it's that you might be able to Snipe him right away.

Although you can't snipe through the back window, well not in my experience.

Bah, repeated tries and the Skylift disappears when I take off the ground. Kept my camera on it, and all.

I suppose the problem is that the Annihilator cheat on my phone is about the 4th one down on the selection menu. I wish I could move cheats up or down on the phone menu, or delete some of them so that the Annihilator can get in the top spot. Oh well, either I a) learn a quick-fire button press sequence to get it, or b) start a new game and don't use cheats until that mission.

But I won't let this stop me. I shall continue trying, as it is a lovely large helicopter.

use the buzzard, it makes it so much easier, as you don't have to snipe the yusuf out of the helicopter
