ihopethisdoesntsuck
Opertating System: Windows XP, Service pack 3 S3 Graphics Supersavage IXC 1179 graphics card memory 16mb? im not sure about memory Pentium 4 processor 1gb RAM no mods as of yet I just got this used laptop, a Toshiba Tecra 9100 recently and wanted to put GTA San Andreas on here. It installs just fine but when i click on the icon on the desktop (i also tried using the icon in the actual program file folder) i hear the disk drive start up and everything and the icon changes to a spinning disc like it's going to work but nothing happens. No black screen, no indication whatsoever of why it did or didnt work. Now i think the culprit may be my graphics card but i'm not sure. Could someone tell me whats up? I apologize if this topic has been posted before. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Ryan
Your going to have a hard time upgrading the video card on your laptop. The majority of laptops don't have room to add a new video card. ihopethisdoesntsuck
UPDATE: I right-clicked the San Andreas icon on my desktop and clicked properties and then clicked on the tab entitled "compatibility" then i checked the box under "Display Settings" that was called run in 640x480 screen resolution. I tried it again and the screen first got smaller and there was a big black frame over the desktop screen with a small screen in the center. I waited a few seconds and it turned completely black like it was about to work and then it just abruptly closed. Sorry if i explained it weird. Now could it be some kind of screen resolution conflict or a crappy graphics card or both? idk. Any additional input would be nice. Ryan
It's definitely your video card. The minimum video memory required for San Andreas is 64Mb. You only have 16Mb. As I already stated, your going to need to upgrade the video card in your laptop to play SA. However I don't suspect you'll be able to upgrade the video card in your laptop. Most don't have that capability. You'll have to play the game on another computer that meets the full minimum system requirements. You have twice as much VRAM as he does. I can sort of understand how your getting away with running the game, but to be honest, I don't think there's a chance in hell on running the with 16Mb of VRAM.
