Invisible players online + disconnections plz help

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

Okay so I have problem with when I play gta iv online for ps3.

So basically, online there are invisible players and I get disconnected virtually every match (whether I’m the host or not.) It’s really annoying because I bought the ps3 mainly for Gta because my brother always hogs the 360 and never lets me play. It works fine on the 360.But now that my favourite ever game Gta iv online is screwed – I’m devastated, could anyone please help.

I have a perfect wireless connection although wired connection made no difference. I have one other game fifa 10 and when I play that online, I also have problems. Grr...but not as bad as Gta. Do you think this is a problem with my ps3? All Rockstar told me to do was to open the ports but it didn’t work!!! Neither did putting the ps3 into Dmz!

Ea(fifa 10) never replied to my e-mail. My router and Isp(same company – o2) said that it’s not their problem as the Xbox works fine. Playstation said try it using a different internet connection, but none of my friends/family live close, and there are no unsecure network connections nearby. But I assume it is the game servers.

So someone please help me, why is this happening. Please don’t tell me it’s an unfixable problem, because I was looking forward to getting a ps3 and gta online for months and months, but ever since I got it I have had problems – mind you offline is fine. All my friends say it works perfectly for them. The invisible players and disconnection(if I’m not the host) is driving me crazy. Been spending weeks trying to fix it. Please help.

Anyway on a lighter note, would anyone want to play a 1vs1 deathmatch without autoaim. I’m level 4 but used to be a level 8 on the xbox 360? I need to be the host or otherwise I’ll get disconnected. Plus sometimes, my friends can never join my game, and I can never join their game.

So please someone please help me fix my online problem and/or leave your psn to play with me(no autoaim, assault rifles).

Thanks, please reply to my topic.

I had this issue, as I said in the other topic. Fortunately I've fixed it already by upgrading my router firmware version. It works well now. What ports have you opened btw?

These are the ports (afaik):

80 - TCP

443 - TCP

5223 - TCP

3659 - UDP

3478 - UDP

3479 - UDP

If this doesn't work, buy a new router. Some routers got limited settings, specially if your router is the one that the company gave you for free.

I already have the latest firmware updates. Plus I did open those ports and more. And lastly, I am paying for my router, it is suppose to be 8MGPS, but I usually get max of 5-6 on good days. smile.gif

This problem seems to be permenant sad.gif

Have you tried bypassing your router-- running a wired connection to your modem??

This worked for me....so much that I bought an ehternet switcht to go between my router and modem and plug the PS3 into this-- this allows me to pull a seperate IP address from my ISP and I get a lightning fast NAT 1 connection.

Before doing this I had all the problems you described running through my netgear router.

When you do your internet connection test-- what NAT is it displaying?

Are you sure you did the port forwarding and DMZ correctly-- do you run a static IP address for the PS3?

I did do the port forwarding and Dmz correctly, I rang my Isp/router and they guided me through it.

I tried wired but that didn't make a difference. I have a static Ip address for the ps3.

I also have nat type 2.

Plus, can you make a static Ip even when you're wired, cuz when I'm wired I just do auto configuration.

I still have the same 5 port Netgear FS605 ethernet switch that spuds is using for sale. I'll flog it half price, its not been used, it didn't solve my issue due to my modem only being able to grab one IP address. Half price, £10 plus P+P, UK only. PM me if anyone is interested. Make sure your ISP supports more than one IP address though.
