Has anyone managed to escape? I did last night (), and not only that, but I was on a motorcycle. I didn't repair my vehicle, go in the tunnel, or go into a safehouse. I only switched to another motorcycle one time. This only took a couple of minutes!

I did, via subway (like in Three Leaf Clover), the safehouse, and maybe the Pay 'n Spray, but those were probably the only times I've managed to escape six stars in Vanilla IV (mostly because I get killed in a shootout). Also, I've escaped six stars from BOGT quite a few times now, though probably it's so easy with the parachute

Yeah, the cops on GTA IV are way more crazy then SA and VC. I got away though.

I personally find VC's or SA's cops (no fanboyism intended) more challenging (because you cannot fool them) if there isn't a pay&spray nearby.

The cops not seeing you well after you change cars makes escaping easier. I did escape several times.

Of course the AI in GTA 4 is much more advanced , but when the stars are grey, you can even move in circles with foot cops Yesterday I had two cops on foot searching around the vicinity in two stars, they did not notice me first ,then I ran after them and beat them with a baseball bat

Very easy to escape teh cops in the game.

 

I find escaping on boat the easiest one. Since dodging the polica boats is easy and when you pass under a bridge the helis will get raped... Unless they're smart enough to know that there's a bridge on front of them.

It is pretty hard if you dont use the subway, safehouses or pay & sprays.

A half decend vehicle (tyres optional) and some decent driving and you can escape the cops without too much trouble. No need for safehouses, subways or Pay 'n' Sprays.

The first time I drove onto a locked island and I then managed to get 6 stars, I managed to change vehicles and literally drive, though still trying to aviod them, past police cars out of the wanted area. Unfortunately, the cop stars went but after a few seconds of freedom they came back, renewed and in full force whereupon... I died.

I've done that a few times changing vehicles but not too often because usually I begin to and make mistakes.

I dont know why, but every time im in a chopper with four or more stars the cop radius keep following me, eventough there are no cops around!

I have managed to do it once.

 

The wanted system in this game is miles better than the older GTA games, I love the fact that you can see on the map the area they've got under view and where cop cars are comming from, it's awesome

 

I'm not sure how many know this but if you steal a new vehicle without a cop seeing you do so, while having cops after you then if you drive slowly and in a normal way you can drive past cops that are looking for you, but they obviously don't know that you're in a completely different vehicle since they never saw you steal it

i've escaped 6 stars probably a dozen times, usually via the subway (easiest way)

Bascially, you just keep turning turns (even when you think you're not going to be able to turn at a certain spot), and eventually, you will escape.

Just had a pretty fun 6 star escape. Planted myself in a spot near a beach (close to the abandoned casino), and fought the cops to 6 stars. Then I ran for it along the beach towards the casino, blowing up Annihilator's with my RPG till I ran out. Ran into the casino to buy time, went onto the roof, then back down & ran for the pier to get a boat. Took about 3 minutes at full throttle to throw off the choppers, and police boats & I lost them near the helitours area.

its 3 or more. and thats why you must dive out at high speeds.

Running on foot is the easiest way to lose them for some stupid reason, the helicopters get raped by the skyscrapers and the cruisers won't fit in the alleys

I was sitting in a Stallion on TLaD with 6 grey stars and I was just parked in Alderny in some parking lot and cops were just walking next to my car like they didn't see me. I back up only a tad bit and They start unloading shot gun shells on me! It was pretty neat. I can't say I didn't try it again though. It didn't go so well any other time. I thought it was something new i didn't learn about. I think it was actually a glitch, which ruins a lot!

Ha 6 stars is easy You just need to drive well and know what you're doing. If you go in a high-roller SUV, you can do it real good. I've done it many times, the trick is to keep changing cars, when they don't see you so your car is relatively intact. If you don't, your car gets blown up. To get out of sight, it takes lots of turning, handbreak turns, weaving in and out of traffic and alleys and between buildings.

Yeah its pretty easy give me a good Vincent and i'll outrun them like nothing else

 

(Vincent being my favourite pursuit car cause it's tough and handles well with a good top end too)

Actually I was complaining in the Gay Tony thread because I had taken on the police more then a few times in a row, tempting fate, of course. Then, as I started GTA 4 over, I noted you get 3 or 4 wanted levels and it's still going gang-busters across the map, I used bridges, overpasses, buildings, alleyways, bikes, trucks, cars... It really can be a tight AI to try and squeeze through! Cars keep appearing when you're nearly free too. I was in that alleyway in Dukes where you and Little Jacob go on drug runs, still the cops sighted me down the alley, where if it was Rockstar's The Warriors, anywhere you hid in shadows you could dodge the cops, they'd wander off after a short time, I try and wait while the heli is over-head, but it comes back so fast, if you're on foot, as I was, then jump an embankmant to escape the cop cars, the choppers have you, there's no where to turn! I shot a few and then I died. It's not a pretty end, but I keep trying to gain an upper hand, against all odds sometimes. You guys post some of the best chases on YouTube? I was thinking I should do that. At least record some more

I just got one of those cop stories.

 

So I was testing my Annihilator skills against the Cop choppers and nothing lasts forever so I eventually got on fire and rushed to the Annihilator spawn in Chinatown. I got there but had to bail out, luckily I landed on the roof by the chopper and guess what? The chopper I had bailed out from took off the tail from the landed one

 

 

Now here is the annoying cop part.

 

I was trapped on the roof, shooting off the Annihilators and the pigs on the ground. I got bored of it and tried to enter the tailless chopper and it worked

 

So now I was spinning around the air trying to go to north colony island for the boat spawn.

I was hovering by the sea, quite close to the boat and lost control of my heli and went down.

5 seconds later I got 4 police boats on top of me... Didn't even had a chance

I noticed in TBOGT that the police wouldnt do suicide jumps anymore. Because when i was on the broker bridge i would hide on the walkways on the sides and the police would throw themselves into the River. That doesnt happen as much now. Only the noose do it and i suspect thats because the van has the backed into the edge so they have to jump.

I escaped once too using the subway, it's the easiest way since you don't have annoying helicopters shooting at you.

Yes, thats the problem with GTA IV, the cops are unrealistic. You lose the cops, and you see them on radar, then suddenly they spawn up and then you're like "awesome" lol Someone made a topic about the police for the GTA NeXt here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=433664

 

I got really annoyed at that as well, though its possible. Cop chases are completely unrealistic though and could be soooo much better. I hope they really do innovate it so its actually fun to get chased, like on NFS or other many games which have police chases.

Nothing is more crazy then those Vice City cops. They start popping all your tires, block the roads and start shooting you crazily after about 3 seconds your car is on fire and usually that's when your dead...
