Well, I for one havent seen many stuff done by my country that manages to go all the way Northn altho this still hasnt gone much north, he's been already contacted from Hollywood and is going to attend a meeting there, His video was made with the budget of only 300$ including the money to pay the extras (aka the randomers seen there)

 

(In case you didnt notice, he's invading Monetvideo, Uruguay's capital)

Your giant, city-destroying robots of the day

Some days, you want the boundless landscapes of the internet to take you to new and magical places, to expand your mind and energise your soul. On other days, you just want to watch a video of giant robots smashing up a city. We don't know about you, but for us, this day falls very much into the latter category.

 

The city that the robots are smashing up in this particular case is the Uruguayan capital Montevideo, thanks to a short film called Ataque de Pánico (Panic Attack) from filmmakers Federico Álvarez and Mauro Rondán. It took six months of work to create (spread out over several years) and, reportedly, its budget cost them a mere £180 ($300 US). We're always a bit sceptical of those 'we filmed it for only £2.50 and a packet of crisps!' claims, but nonetheless, well done to the lads.

It might not be the most educational or edifying short film ever, but in the end, it's a video of giant robots smashing things up. It does what it says on the metal exoskeleton. In that sense, it's very much like the movie Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, except it's actually enjoyable to watch and doesn't leave you with a gaping sense of emptiness afterwards.

Uruguayan Federico Alvarez is responsible for the short "panic attacks" that has over 500,000 views and over 1,600 comments on the website YouTube.

 

So great was the success of this excellent film that Ghost House production by director Sam Raimi, decided to hire him to direct a feature film, reports the weekly search today.

 

In short, four minutes and ten seconds, Montevideo is attacked by giant robots and futuristic aircraft that did blow up landmark buildings as the Legislative Palace, the Tower of Telecommunications and Montevideo Palacio Salvo while desperate run for their lives.

 

The weekly reports that Alvarez will have a budget of between $ S 30 million and U $ S 40 million, four to five months to develop the script and pre-production.

 

Furthermore, and importantly, will have professional quality because the project has the direct backing of director Raimi.

Anyways, anyone here other than me thinks that what this guy did and how it turned out was kinda awesome? I mean, you dont make a cheap video with the objective to see if it maybe gets on a local newspaper or something like he wanted, but instead he starts attracting hollywood?

Makes me want to start doing some weird stuff and see how it comes out...

 

EDIT: And before you tell me to post it in the video topic, this is about how the situation came out at the end, not the video itself, but the guy, who did a freat video imo

That's pretty damned cool. A little sloppy in places, though. But the photography was excellent, and the animation was all pretty sweet.
