GTA IV Discs not working

I have a problem with GTA IV DVDs and I hope that someone could help me since I can't find any solution on the net.

I have been playing GTA IV PC for almost a year now with no serious problems. However, recently I installed Windows 7, then GTA IV of course.

It ran very well for the first few days. After that my DVD device somewhy started refusing to read both the GTA IV DVDs (other discs with different games/files reads well). The thing is that I can't access the DVD and it makes these short but frequent sounds, as though when it begins to read the DVD someone forcefully disrupts the process.. which is SecuROM, right? Well, after a little bit of waiting it provides a message "Please insert the original GTA IV dvd" or something like that.

First I tried to delete Daemon Tools - didn't work. Then I deleted SecuROM - no luck. I also tried to reinstall the dvdrom drivers - didn't help either.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you have any other software like Daemon Tools uninstall that too. Try the disc on some other PC and see if it works.

 

If it doesn't work, then check if you can see any scratches on the disc. Most probably, it is scratched and hence, unreadable. If you see scratches, try cleaning the disc. If that doesn't help, then I guess it's time to buy a new copy of the game.

My DVD burner had same problems when it started dying... You can always use official no dvd launcher from securom.... But its ilegal to tell you where to get it, cause its not allowed to use it anymore... (yes it works with patch 5)
