Jesus that was tough man.

But I went nice personoo's Nest. Why? One of the best ensembles you could ever hope to see in a movie, with great performances from everybody. And then you got 'ol Jack, the cream of the crop, icing on the top. Couple this with a beautiful, involving, human story that actually impacted the country, and you have one of the best films of all time. All time.

Really tough, but I had to go with Taxi Driver. Scorsese was really trying to figure out what role men played within society in the 1970s, and the film became a really good example of masculinity in crisis.

I voted for Aliens. This was tough, as I was really close to going for Taxi Driver, but my childhood love for Aliens prevailed. While it may not have the emotional and social impacts that Taxi Driver had, it featured many memorable moments and characters and at the same time changed the face of sci-fi movies as we know them. It also proved that some sequels can be just as good as the original. Alien was a claustrophobic horror film that had you wondering throughout the film what the f*ck these 7 people were dealing with as each got picked off one by one, and it was terrifying. Aliens took it up a notch by retaining the horror element and adding balls out action to the mix, and by bringing in a sh*tload of aliens, as opposed to the one in Alien.

I doubt it'll win, but in my opinion it's an all around classic and just stands out to me a little bit more than the other films listed.

Easily Taxi Driver for me, although nice personoo's Nest is a close second. It's Scorsese's best film as far as I'm concerned and it's my favorite DeNiro performance. I just wish they would get this film transfered to high-def ffs. I've been waiting for two years and have still heard nothing about when it'll get transfered which is making me a little itchy.

My cursor was on Aliens for a long time, but I went with nice personoo's Nest. R.P. McMurphy is in my opinion one of the greatest film characters of all time, and Jack Nicholson is f*cking amazing as him.

Pretty easily Taxi Driver for me. I love nice personoo's Nest but I don't place it anywhere near the same league as Scorsese's masterpiece. Same with Goodfellas (still have no clue how it got this far anyway) but Aliens is a bit different. Aliens is good for action and comedy but in the end Taxi Driver is much more deep and has more to the film. Brilliant character study.

edit: on the subject of favourite Scorsese/De Niro collaborations, I actually like Raging Bull the best.

Boy, that's a tough one. After much deliberation though I decided to go with Aliens. I can't really explain my choice. I guess it mostly comes down to just me figuring out, if I was to watch a movie right now out of those three, which would I pick?

Of course, Sigourney Weaver is the sh*t.

Goodfellas had more of an effect on me. The characters, the narration by Liotta, the overall theme was great.

Honestly I found Taxi Driver a bit boring, which was really weird, because I watch a lot of different types of movies and I rarely find movies boring. I'm not one of those gear-headed guys who likes "all action all the time." I love dramatic movies, but Taxi Driver specifically didn't do it for me.

You may have a different opinion, which is fabulous, I'm not gonna criticize you.

I can see what you mean, it can seem to drag on a bit but i think Travis is such an interesting character that i wanted it to drag on as i wanted to leanr more about him. I picked Goodfellas as well as I've always had a great interest in the Mafia and not only is this film true which makes it even more compelling and interesting, Martin Scorsese puts so much energy and excitment into the film. I was just on the edge on my seat and leaning into the screen closer and closer as the story goes on. I just loved it.

Also, according to Empire magazine, Goodfellas is the #6 movie of all time, ranking higher than nice personoo's Nest, Taxi Driver, or Aliens.

Then again its just one magazine. sarcasm.gif

Yeah and it also placed one flew at 105 So I wouldnt hold its judgment too highly.

Competition over, empirical proof discovered.

Goodfellas was at the bottom of this list for me. I went with Aliens because its loads of fun and probably a type and quality of movie we'll never see again (don't even think about Avatar). That said it doesn't seem like it would be the best film on this list in the classic sense.

I've never really understood all the fuss about Goodfellas. I've never managed to sit through the entire thing. Anyway, for me the competition was between Taxi Driver and nice personoo's Nest. One side, you've got a dark, gritty character study with De Niro giving one of his better performances. On the other side, you've got Jack Nicholson playing himself, supported by a great cast. With that said, I'll have to go with nice personoo, simply because I prefer it over TD. You've got the Chief, DeVito, Doc Brown as great supporting characters, and Nurse Ratched as the evil... Nurse. It's finely written, well-directed and all that jazz, but the cast takes it for me. Everyone gives a stellar performance, even though Nicholson just plays himself, as he usual, and that works great. As usual.

Empire placed Fight Club at #10, and Evil Dead 2 did better than Lawrence of Arabia. Come on.
